That last part is Pascal's Wager (what if you picked the wrong religion?). The first part -- how can I disobey something I don't believe in? If Allah/Vishnu/Jhwh were to show himself to me as he "has" to others, I'd be willing -- within limits -- to follow their guidelines. If your god knows what will convert me and doesn't do it, why am I to blame?

If you don't take the time to find out, then you can only blame yourself. Our attitudes could change tomorrow or 20 years from now. I could die and on my death bed decide to reject Islam after a lifetime. I don't know.

The Quran speaks exactly this, even if Allah (God) shows himself you will not believe and you have already rejected Him. Only follow what you want to follow - "Within Limits".

But as I said before, if he is omniscient then he knows what evidence will convert me. I consider myself a fairly reasonable person, being a scientist and all. I don't follow what I want to -- I follow what my mind considers true. I am "compelled", in a way, to accept no religion (at least currently) because they all use precisely the same arguments to attempt to convert me. Were you a fundamentalist Christian, you would say the same of Jhwh.

In Islam, faith is not something devoid of reason or 'aql. Rather, it is through harnessing our rational, moral, and intuitive faculties, that we can come to faith. We can prove the validity of the Qur'an and the existence of God, upon which all other concepts in Islam rest (i.e. they are like branches stemming from a trunk firmly rooted in truth).
