  • There is a reason why the Mark VIII was the last in its line. It was an ugly failure and it deterred a lot of Lincolns 2 door audience because it was to sporty and not enough Lincoln. It also didnt win over much of a sportier audience either. Lincoln either had to try and bring back the 2 door Lincoln audience or take an even greater risk of going further into the luxury sport theme. Neither was worth the risk and instead came the underdeveloped Lincoln LS, a 4 door sporty Lincoln with issues.

  • @RetroGamingGuide I got a 7 for my first car and about 2 years ago I got an 8, before I got my 8 I was saying the same thing you are with hating the 8s look... however after a week of having it I absolutely loved how it looks, it really does grow on you plus it turns 10x more heads than my 7 does, the 7 has lost its style to me now. I still love my 7 but the 8 is at least twice as nice basically in every way. I still split my driving between the two cars, but I honestly like the 8 more.

  • I agree that a Mark VII is slower, I own one. It is in very good condition and I would think it is better than average mechanically. As for low 16's yes but I honestly cannot think it would run in the high 15's, not in a stock unit. I have run 16.27 with 1/4 tank gas and no junk in the car and the air filter removed. About 2th's slower with air filter in, and no it's not plugged with dirt. I would like to buy a Mark VIII but they are fairly rare where I live.

  • my friend just got an 88 mark7 LSC for $2700, 70k miles decent paint pretty nice. he wants to resell it do you think he could get more? we were crusing 80 on freeway and he punched it, and it just wanted to break the needle and keep going, my civic could still beat it all day tho lol.

  • you hit 60 mph and it will hold it into second gear which you can then near redline againe and put it back into drive as a third gear. when your then redlining third, put it into overdrive and that will be the forth gear which isnt to great but still, you can do prob almost 140mph. I would recomend atleast exhaust and intake for this bacause why do it threw straws. struggling for air and made for fuel economy. Hot Rod Lincolns 3.23 8.8

  • I have an 88 Mark Vii Lsc and it will blow the wheels of that Lsc he was not Flowering it at all he had to be scared ive flowered mine and it gets up and goes and the speedometer has went under the dash and could only see half the needle. only modi

  • fication is straight pipes and in 88 is when the output was changed after that they did some restyling in the interior on the dash move the radio up and put the speedometer to show the right speed for a top output at 120 but can go faster.

  • @j109264 actually NO mark VIII ever came with a trac loc rearend. They came with traction control, but were simply one wheel wonders. only came in 2 gear ratios, which were 3.07 on the base model and 3.27 on the LSC that started mid year 1995. I never said a factory mark viii had a posi rear end. mine does because i built it. along with about 300 other rearends when i worked at a Ford dealership. and tell me how 225hp and 3600lbs equals a 15.2 1/4 mile. explain that, now shut your cocksucker.

  • For this day in time that's slow for a car. There are a lot of V6 cars that are faster than that. My Aurora would walk all over a Mark VII. A Mark VIII is a better race.

  • What year is your friends 5.0??? they changed the output mid way through production... Plus, I doubt your friend's 4.0 can keep up with my 5.0 based block

  • His lsc is a '91. My cousin has a '97 lsc and he beat my Aurora by a half a car length. I don't think the stock VII LSC is gonna keep up with a VIII LSC.

  • BULLSHIT. the Mark VII's are not faster then the Mark VIII's. Mark VII's weight just as much and made 55 less horsepower then the Mark VIII. The 1992 LSC mark VII's ran low 16's and the occasional high 15. The Mark VIII's all run low 15's/ high 14's. SO how are the mark VII's faster????

  • so since my 89 Mark Vii came out with 225-235 hp, do you seriously think they went from that to 55 plus hp, there is no way even if you look back at all the 5.0's and years they never came out with over 265 hp and that was the mustangs. the Lincoln Mark Vii's where like an exact replica of mustangs from all of the production years, the only difference was that the mark vii was like 400-500 lbs heavier and rear end was geared lower

  • your markVII was a 225hp 5.0. the Mark VIII had a 4.6 DOHC 280HP engine. that is 55 more HP. need a calculator??? now go look up the base curb weights. they are damn near identical. now go look through archives of sites like motor trend etc. and you'll find that the mark VII's were 16sec cars. Mark VIII's run very low 15's STOCK. So the DOHC 4.6 the cobra guys love.. debuted in a Lincoln. 1993 first year mark VIII had that very engine. I've run several of the VII's and it wasn't pretty 4 them.

  • that search bar at the top of the screen... you see it??? now type in 1993 Mark VIII ad, then you'll see the Ford advertisement for the 1993 Mark VIII, and in there it talks about the 4.6 DOHC rated at 280 Horsepower and 280 Torque.

  • hey svtlincoln what are trying say ya the mark 8 did come with the 285 hp and 285 torque but the mark 7 came with 225 hp and 300 torque but ford did make a wrong estiamte it had acaully 250hp and 325 torque. i know because i'm working with ford at the head quators they wanted not to increase the insurance rates and have the buyer not to pay more for it than 1987 model year.

  • @MegaFordpower NO. the mark viii from 1993-1996 was rated at 280hp and 280lb ft of torque. i have the actual brochure that came with my 95 model. the LSC introduced mid year 95 was rated at 290hp and 290lb ft. and also if a vehicle is 100lbs lighter that DOES increase acceleration times. rule of thumb: 100lbs = 10hp. now do i really believe you work at headquarters?? i believe some one working at the top of Ford would be able to spell the words actually and quarter. not acaully & quator. wtf?

  • @svtlincoln actually my friend the brochure did say it had 290 hp and 290lb of torque but they did a retesting on all models that came with the 4.6 dohc 32 valve engines. because the 96-99 cobras had loss of power when the owner order it from the dealer. so ford had settle down with NSTA to back up on all their 4.6 dohc 32 valve engines like that are prone of intake designs. and just to let you know fords 5.0 has 300 pounds of torque and the 4.6 had 290 pounds of torque so 10lb less of the 5.0 .

  • @dixitraditions77 It is just a name. Just like Triton on the truck engines. Some people think it was because of the revised intake on the 97-98's but the first intech badging showed up in 96 before the revised intake. Why ford decided to start calling them Intech, I don't know. Maybe they thought they needed a name, since caddy had "Northstar" which is also... just a name.

  • @svtlincoln mark vii is only faster than the base markviii 93-94 but when the 95 mkviii lsc is faster because it has a buffer engine and better exhaust flow than the base.

  • @MegaFordpower the mark vii is NOT faster than a "base" 93-94 Mark VIII. Actually there was no "base" 93-94 Mark VIII, since the LSC wasn't an option until late in the 95 production year. A 1993 Mark VIII is a low 15sec car all day long. Once again, how is a low 15sec 1/4 mile slower than a high 15sec 1/4 mile? The LSC had the same damn engine as all the other Mark VIII's the only diff was a true dual exhaust worth a whopping 10hp, and 3.27 rear gear and they were only a tenth of sec faster.
