  • Loving these studies but bugs me LOTS that once more our church is represented by a looong parade of white males. Why??? 90% of YMs in my diocese are female, all ages. 80% of my active youth are female. What gives? Same when one seeks youth rally speakers. Do teens only come out to hear dudes? Are female YMs--many, busy working moms--"in the field" comforting/teaching/encouraging teens instead of lecturing about it?

  • OBridgee5- I absolutely agree with you. . . here's the challenge, however, who would you have invited??? Ethnic diversity was missing as well in the speakers. The invitees in the symposium were more gender and ethnically diverse, but... So, you're right. Who was missing?

  • In the absolutely essential discussion that is occuring around adolescent catechesis, where are the women's voices? I teach faith formation courses that are predominantly women preparing for parish ministry. How can we leave them out? To do so is to deprive Church of the fullness of what it can be...not to mention shortchanging the young people we so want to reach.
