So this is a bit of a quandary. I'm seeing that this takes place in Holland Michigan, which is know to have the descendants of many Dutch transplants in the U.S. Then there are Dutch people from NL saying posting that this is not a reflection of Dutch culture. So where does it come from? Is it made up or simply a remnant of the way the people danced who immigrated to Michigan, but which no longer exists in the Real Holland?
But even in the 50's only the real countryside people dressed and danced this way. Before, it was more common.. say, 30's.
NOBODY now dresses this way here, and also, NOBODY wears wooden clogs (except very old people in very rural areas perhaps).
These people just want to cling to the Dutch culture as how it was when the first immigrants left, most immigrants regardless of descent have that mindset.

Yeah, it existed ~ 50 years ago, and earlier.
But even in the 50's only the real countryside people dressed and danced this way. Before, it was more common.. say, 30's.
