I think the officer was right. It was either him, wrestle her to the ground and use force, (Possible injuring / breaking bones of a elderly lady) or taser her to get her to cooperate. After seeing this it is very very hard to empathize with this woman; she refused to cooperate with the officer at any point, walked away from him, disobeyed his order to stay at her car, cursed at him, and challenged him over and over again. A 72 year-old can be concealing a small gun or knife just as easily as anyone else can.

the taser was probably the safest option really. she was already fighting him when he tried to get the cuffs on her. plus that close to traffic makes it a bad place to have to grapple with anybody. plus if he would have taken her to the ground, she probably would have been hurt more by him having to fight with her. i would have pepper sprayed her, much better way to deliver the message, "stop being a stuck up bitch you old bag. you're not special"

The cop let himself get worked up. The fact that she didn't sustain injuries (according to the chief) is due to luck, not good judgment. She could have died of cardiac arrest.

Police need to be more patient, more respectful of their elders and more imaginative in dealing with uncooperative suspects. Do they tase their children when they don't listen?

I work in a nursing home and if she did that where I work she'd have been pinned down by 4 people and given a stick in the arm with a needle to calm her down. The arcticle where I read this story said she sued for over $130,000 for pain, suffering and medical costs. This video said she didn't require medical attention.

Yes, the old lady was feisty, but once she got out of the truck she clearly said TWICE "give me the ticket and I'll sign it."

That should have been the end of it. At that point, he should have handed her the ticket, she should have signed it, and that would be that.

But instead of doing this, the cop decides to pick a fight with a little old lady. The way he pushed her was way too harsh - he could have gently steered her away from traffic if he was really concerned about her safety.
