we all learn from our first fights. I am doing the same dropping weight and more passionate than ever. Honestly I'm surprised you lostit could have gone either way. Like someone else mentioned the only thing I saw was your telegraphing when you threw techniques especially the kick. Also get loose man I did the same thing I was too tense :)
Good job. Stay relaxed, thats where your standup will excel, when your relaxed. More head movement would also help with your standup. Personally if I was fighting someone with a longer reach advantage I would have attacked with leg kicks and go for take downs. But really good for your first time.
u change stance everytime before doing ur left kick if i can suggest someting il work on the skip if i were u .. other that it was an entertaining fight =)
yeah this was so long ago lol. and i had just started training mma 2 months prior lol. but thanks for the advice. i have deff worked on that since this fight lol.
Hey thanks a bunch man. I appreciate it. yeah this fight was at 155 but i walk around at like 152 if that lol. ive had two other fights at 145. but still i need to fight at 135
Good fight. I just started MMA as well and sadly I lost my first match as well. Your strikes and your ground skills seems more refined than mine was.... tho I only had 2 weeks to train... Anyways if my two cents counts try getting in and using leverage for your strikes. Fedor often does that and it works for him. Trying to strike the guy from that distance just wasn't working out for you.
hey thanks man.I appreciate it. this fight has been quite some time ago. i weighed 152 at the time. i weigh 142 now. so i will be competing at 135 from now on unless i gain all that weight back in muscle haha.
yeah i just have to keep training hard and as often as i can
Hey bud. Good fight. You can't win them all. I'm getting into MMA myself. I am mostly just a wrestler but in time that will change. Anyway, the best advice I can give is don't give up. In time you will become more well rounded and more dangerous. Work on your cardio and show up to practice as often as your body can hold up. Keep swinging buddy.
Overall, Excellent for a 1st fight! Here are somethings u can work on. Dont pull ur head back when u punch. Start with kicks to body to loosten the fighter up and then go for head kick and cover ur face while kicking. When a bigger opponent shoots you, always try to go for a guillateen. Get you hook under the neck and let his momentum do the work for you. When mounted, always keep you knees on ground unless going for BJJ moves. Very good take down defence. Almost got him to tap at the end!
hey thanks guys, yeah I am deff focusing on my striking a lot more now. my next fight will be in May sometime. I plan on dominating and being the aggressor, but fighting smart at the same time. my striking sucked i know lol but i didnt have that good of training before hten, but now its a different story. I will deff post the next fight next month. Thank everyone =]
Good fight man! The only thing I can say is loosen up a little. Other than that, with time, comes experience and skill. Keep working as hard as you did before this fight. I'm sure you're doing that now though.
i´ve been boxing for three years and i really got into mma but in mexico theres no good mma at all!
i have a litle advice for you..
work more on your striking, you have a good ground work but work hard on your striking, also on your conditionig.=)because with a better condition you'll be very dangerous..
Your ground game is ok, but you're obviously not very comfortable striking. Try not relying so much on the big high kicks and strong right hands. Just relax and fight, just like you would on the ground.
hey thanks man. yeah i should have gotten in on the inside. but i wasnt to dissapointed with my fight lol. its just a good way to learn from mistakes and now i know what to do next time. =]
not bad..just work on your stand and defense.his reach had nothing to do with his win.i have been doing mma for since i was 6 and boxing since i was 10.if they have a longer reach use your short game, by getting inside.u went with to many face shots.work the body more and you will be just fine.body = knockouts.but over all good fight

by the way, what weight class is this? At 5'7 you may want to tighten up and drop a lower weight class.

forced action and good conditioning from both fighters. More entertaining than a UFC fight.
