Ha, if I'd listened to this version earlier I wouldn't have spent the past year and a half trying to understand what Ezra's singing. It sounds much clearer here than in the recorded version. I saw Joanna down in the subway, she took an apartment in Washington Heights!
They were students at Columbia University in NYC when they formed Vampire Weekend. Their music has very strong Africian influences. Check out Johnny Clegg too...

This Generations Talking Heads.
The sweet mixtures of many styles with a loose feeling that has no boundaries.
Just poppy enough to break through to the mainstream.
Just strange enough to be fresh, just Indie enough to appeal to hipsters, & just intelligent & enough lyrically to appeal to Art rock heads.
Other Manhattan bands for example The Fiery Furnaces have tried but just don't have the perfect balance.

I like how they're the clean-cut version of indie

For me, the "eh eh eh eh" cheapens this song (especially the way the keyboardist does it) Otherwise it's brilliant.

Not sure about the vocals. Music sounds fantastic, though. I've heard him sing this one a lot better.

I hate the way he does the vocals in the live version but the rest was good for live.
