  • Bless her..she was already fighting cancer at this time...and didn't live a lot longer after this...she was in Gigi..what ever happened to her son Sean..anyone know. Yes she was a Calvinist Christian and defined herself as a fundamentalist...great character actress...miss more like her.

  • Agnes Moorehead had a huge and very successful career - "Bewitched" was but a very small part. Agnes was a very religious/spiritual woman (given her family upbringing), but never wore it on her sleve like the all too many people (politicians/celebrities, among them) of today. Thanks dear lady!!

  • She still had the best vocal talent and also character actress in film...she was suffering from severe cancer at this time..Gigi was her last stage production..she became so gaunt she had to be carried to her taxi to get back to her hotel room..and never a whimper or complaint..she went from this to Mayo where she died...not long into the run of Gigi.

  • She was attempting to fool the panel...hence the "fake" accent. Aggie was probably the greatest character actress in recorded time. She was simply brilliant:)

  • Agnes spoke with a trained and practiced tone and accent. She was brilliant at showing the public how a mid westerner could morph in to the cultured and educated celebrity that she was.

  • Why is she affecting a clearly faked upper class English accent?

And please, all you "fans" of hers out there, before you bite my head off, realize I am asking a pertinent question, and that I am an ardent admirer of her work.

  • Strangely enough, she won her only Emmy award not for "Bewitched" but for guest starring on "The Night Of The Vicious Valentine" episode from "Wild, Wild West".

  • What a lovely speaking voice such a strong character amazing makes the talent we have today very weak .We are lacking the type of people like Agnes and her era .Thanks for posting the clip i found it very interesting .

  • she doesn't look well.

  • Poor Meredith died of brain tumor at on 56 yrs.

  • She collapsed after the Gigi production and was sent to Mayo for the cancer I think she knew had resurfaced. She never performed after this...she took major cancer treatments but couldn't beat it.....Agnes died at the age of 72..she was not a drinker, smoker or Lesbian (falsely had been claimed about her) and her mother lived to the ripe age of 106. But she had above the acting ability the wonderful speaking voice that is no longer existant in performers today. Miss that and her too.

  • She learned her craft in radio....

  • @1927Norma, and one of Orson Welles' Mercury players.

  • She was from MA....her dialect was great...had a masters degree and taught for years...wished we had more who talk properly. All resort to slang and actors today are boring...they all look alike or sound alike and still can't talk correctly.

  • Good God, totally different than her "Endora" character ... and sounds like she's from Britain, not Missouri. Just proves what a great actress she was.

  • Meredith MacRae was so hot! What a beauty!

  • Oh god...she would be gone just a few months later :( Still, that glorious spirit comes shinning thru :)

  • Agnes Moorehead was a great actress, she was a well trained actress in theater - even though she was glad to know that Bewitched was a critical and ratings success, she could not confess to complete satisfaction with the Endora role she played, because she stated there were so many things she wanted to do with the role that there wasn't enough time to do in television-

  • Yes she seems ill but trying to put on a happy face. Her humor was dry but what a treat to see this, I loved everything she did. Thanks for posting.

  • I've just finished reading (My Travels With) Agnes Moorehead - The Lavender Lady by Quint Benedetti published by Xlibris Press and wasn't previously aware of her long and distinguished career. Mostly remembered for her portrayal as the character Endora on Bewitched, Agnes Moorehead had a long and distinguished career as a film actress, but she was also outstanding in radio drama. I am thrilled to be able to see this. Thank you for posting this gem!

  • @marknorthwest93 I had read that book a bit earlier and I am only more in awe and dumbfounded of understanding her as a person...have a bit of insight but she is hard to peg....But I wish more of her abilities existed today..she was unique and very intersting....notice the actors of her era had awesome dialect in speaking...what a voice she had...radio was her platform for her career...can see why....made her stand out. Miss you Ms. Moorehead....

  • Larry died too young!

  • Obviously, Aggie's stellar gifts do not run in the family ;)

  • Agnes Morehead died soon after this appearance on WML? Her replacement in GIGI? Arlene Francis who closed out the run at the Uris now Gershwin Theatre.

  • She won a Golden Globe for Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte.

  • Above and beyond her latter-day fame on "Bewitched," she was one of the most talented, versatile actresses in the business, a five-time Oscar nominee (Astoundingly, she never won), and one of the casualties of the notorious John Wayne film "The Conqueror."

    Terrific actress and classy lady.

  • @librarybob1958 I agree. Agnes Moorehead is my idol! I love her!! Sometimes, I wish that she hadn't had done "The Conqueror" because I feel as if that could have been a reason on why she died. Can't change the past now though....

  • yeah well shes my 2nd caousn so back off!

  • @1960galBSAM I agree completely. I genuinely believe that none of those people...Dick Powell, John Wayne, Susan Hayward, Pedro Armendariz, and Agnes Moorehead, among all those involved in the production, would have gotten cancer the way they did.if not for the production location of that movie. Such a pity that they had to die for such a genuinely mediocre film. John Wayne was laughable as Genghis Khan, as was Hayward as a Tartar princess. Moorehead was brilliant, as always. So truly sad.

  • @librarybob1958 Hey LBob, please tell me you know she did win an Emmy for her role on Wild Wild West... I have never been able to catch the whole thing but have seen clips. What did you think of her performance on that show?

  • @librarybob1958

Love Aggie. What a talent we lost. According to her bio, she was suffering from cancer at this time and died shortly later. How sad. Still miss her as a person and a Christian......will see here again.

  • She just did not seem particularly engaging here. She could have been friendlier, no?

  • @wmlfan9 I guess so, but since she wan't feeling to good, I don't blame her for not being very happy! When I'm sick, I'm grumpy. Maybe she acts the same way!

  • @1960galBSAM True, true. She was a fine actress - let's give her that.

  • @wmlfan9 I i wholeheartedly agree!!! :)

  • @1960galBSAM I don't see her appearance as grumpy. It seems to me that she was just being funny.

  • @torchkit Well, I just felt she wasn't like herself that day. She was as perky. You know what I mean?

  • @wmlfan9 Hey there, didn't Agnes pass away not too long after she was starring in Gigi? She filmed a movie with John Wayne near a nuclear testing site ("The Conqueror" I think, I could be wrong) and developed cancer later on as a result. I am truly sorry she had to pass on from a disease so vile!

  • @Maelohna You seem to know more about Ms. Moorehead than I do. I'm sure you're right.

  • Thanks for posting this! Interesting to note that Arlene Francis replaced AM when she had to leave GIGI...

  • @jackdnoe Did she replace Moorehead or Maria Karnilova when she left?

  • @cremeofthereich LET ME CORRECT MYSELF. "JACKNOE' IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. Karnilova played a different role. My bad.

  • @jackdnoe Please disregard my previous comment. You are correct.

  • I just wanted to mention that this comes directly from Agnes' blog. It's a great place for Agnes fans. PTourist does a great job. :-)

  • @EDH1712 That's were I got it from!! I've been following Agnes' blog for a long time! I LOVE IT! :D

  • Thank you a million times over for posting this clip of this legendary actress's WML appearance. I was there and that voice you hear at the beginning, with the "ohhh" is me. This would have been either the Tuesday show or more likely the Friday show because I saw Ms. M as she was walking away from the studio toward the elevators and noted that she had to pause briefly and grab a wall for support. Indeed, she did pass a few months later but she left a great legacy of perfs. Didn't she everyone?

  • @spagandtuna I agree!!!! As I said earlier, she had had been on WML before the new one.....she was on the classic one. I wish I could have been alive then to meet her. :)

  • @1960galBSAM Actually, I think the other MG appearance was on the syndicated WML? Maybe a year or two prior. I don't recall an appearance by AM on the classic version of the show.

  • @EDH1712 Okay! I was pretty much assuming that when she said that she fooled them the time before, she meant the classic one. Thanks for letting me know!

  • @1960galBSAM @EDH1712 It was indeed on the syndicated WML? I have an episode where she is the Mystery Guest, and the panel is Soupy, Lucie Arnez, Gene Rayburn, and Arlene.

  • @Abacab1982 Whoops, it's ARNAZ!!

  • @Abacab1982 I found the video on another channel, that is no longer avaliable. So I have posted it though my channel.

  • @Abacab1982 can you post it on youtube, if you haven't already! I would love to see it!!! :D

  • @spagandtuna gee your fortunate to have seen her peronally... i wasn't even born when she left us... and my location even if o was born on that years would make it impossible...

  • Better than not seeing her at all, but I've been hoping to see her as a mystery guest on the classic WML ...

  • @63utuber She said that she fooled them before, she she obviously was on the classic WML. I haven't found it yet, but if I do, I will definatly will post it.

  • Arlene should know her == as I recall, their paths crossed in the 1930s in radio work . Both had associations with Orson Welles in that period.
