@reginabach You ARE, of course, nothing but correct in what you say. I was just being lovably whimsical and attempting a bit a rhetorical humor...taking a shot at present-day "political correctness", you see.
This is the first "blockbuster" success for Fred and Ginger, and the whole creative team. TCM has it rated 4 0f 4 stars. Ginger doesn't tap in this film...and Fred was not fully satisfied with her dancing yet....but you can see in this film she was born, fully formed, as Fred's greatest ballroom partner. Hermes Pan said that before this film, they really didn't know what they had in Ginger. She was a mystery. But after they way she performed "Day and Night" with Fred, all doubts were dispelled.
