Anime/manga haves been on a dry spell lately with T.V. You can't hardly find any programs anymore to watch. I wonder if the big Hollywood releases of Astro Boy and Gatchaman will revive interest in America.

animeuserone.. They need to do these movies on a real setting not a computer anime setting. You do one or the other. You do the movie like they did Transformers and the Matrix or you do the cartoon... animation. They tried the computer way with Final Fantasy series and it was terrible.. Voltron, Gforce were great...stop computerizing it...KISS keep it simple stupid.. use real actors.. use computer graphics to make the film better. Bring the Anime to life using both. Matrix, Transformers,one.

Don't get me wrong I have watched a lot of anime, to many to list Evangelion, Speed Racer (the original), and Astro Boy (black and white original). I really like the idea of bringing anime to a wider audience in America as long as it isn't done in the complete ass way that DB Evolution was, that did make me want to kill someone. Speed Racer did a good job though, it kept the same story and characters, and it was accurae in that aspect most people don't lke it because of it's looks.

I thought Speed Racer was awesome for it's adaption into modern cinema. Sure it isn't purist, but it has to appeal to more than just the core fanbase. Not everyone in America knows about anime so it has to be changed and updated. I mean hell, I enjoyed the Speed Racer movie more than the newer animated series.

Yeah, I wish I had saw Speed Racer in thetheater now after watching it at home. It wasn't the visuals that bothered me in the trailer, it was the car physics that bugged me since I was expecting straight up racing. But 5 mins into it, I realized that it's intentionally has cartoon physics. Once I got that it's exaggerated racing, I loved it.

a good director that knows the original cartoon and can make this movie as close to the cartoon such as character wise and such yet keep it in the real life format.And finally they need good actors that can act (for starters) and can be as much like the characters they are playing as close as the can yet still act like real people.Then it won't likely be crap

What I find encouraging is how the "G" rated series frm our youth "Battlestar Galactica" and Gatchaman (BOTP) are being updated to a more realistic, dramatic PG-13 feel. They can both deal with REAL issues that a G cartoon couldn't touch. The sample audio and video both look good, but the real test will be the script/story line, especially in a post 9/11 world. IF you like me, appreciate this trend, then lets not be too critical, killing off something thats a good effort because its not perfect
