I heard the song before seing the video... now for the first time I wish I hadn't seen a video from Michael Flatley, the music deserves a better and more energetic dance.

I can sort of understand if Flately wants to branch out from the traditional Irish stuff and all, and by all means I respect his choice, but if he's going to do choreography/costumes/dancing like this, he needs to stop using the adjective "Celtic", in my opinion.
Well, about 97 of 100 of his dances in shows are all something showing something that happened to the Irish or that is about the Irish, therefore he calls them "Celtic", I think.
Ummm..... Tigers? Surely something like wolves or even horses would be better suited for a Celtic revival of dance? Irish horses are among the best in the world after all.
The term "Celtic Tiger" actually refers to the incredible economic upturn in Ireland of the 1990's. Thats the reference behind the name of the show, it's based off an actual (albeit economic) term. Just thought I'd clear that up! :)

In fact, really the last eight bars of choreography in the whole piece is what remains of Molly Molloy's choreography. All the crawling and posing, and up to the running and jumping in a circle, replaced the original choreography. The last eight bars the dancers pieced together themselves from Molly's original choreography, as the rehearsal directors did not know what to choreograph there...

I gotta say; I've been a fan of Flately's work since the mid-90's,and I don't see what's so bad about this. The second half of the show was all about incorporating dancing from around the world into the show. This dance just reminds me of the musical CATS. In fact, they do raunchier moves with their body and wear revealing bodysuits in that show. This is modern dance and jazz thrown into the Irish dancing, nothing more. I never realized how uptight and moralistic people could still be.
I have to say that I absolutely agree with you. Michael never intended to be a purist on irish dancing, at least not for this show. Even I think that this one may have to much of an american flavor, I think he still did quite a good job. The show is wonderful, it has rythm and colour and can make people dream (as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance also did).
His other shows from back then are way better. It's sad what he turned this show into. Why all the stripping and sexy dancing? I thought that this was supposed to be an Irish Dancing show (I'm not talking about this video).
The celtic dance must move beyond "hands at the sides, stiff form" before it dies!!! Celtic dancers take note: even if u don't like this one dance ... branch out!!! Meld, GO somewhere with your style... there is so much to explore in Irish dance!!

They are beautiful women very talented at their instruments. They are in no way being exploited. They take care of their bodies and are in now flaunting their sexuality here. Some folks read a little too far into things instead of just enjoying the presentation. It's not smutty or dirty in any way folks!!!!!!!!

As a jazz dance this is very well done. I dislike the focus on sex appeal in Flatley's recent shows but from a purely dance standpoint it's very good.

Why can't people just enjoy watching the performance. So what if it's not Irish Dance-the rest of the show is. I take my hat off to Flatley. I don't understand how the freedom of the children of Ireland can be represented by women in tiger-print leotards crawling and feeling around themselves. This is SO not a mixture of many dances, it's jazz jazz and more jazz. The music is great, but they're air fiddling (Sorry, Cora). Michael Flatley spoiled us with shows that showcased Irish Dancing ONLY. By adding in the other dances the fans of LOTD and FOF are just not satisfied.
ha sorry to break it to you, but there not. During the slow part, the violin continues. yet you can see the 4 violinists waving there bows in the air...not playing!!
I love this musical piece, but they could have done so much better with dance, a nice softshoe reel, into a hardshoe reel would have worked really well.
The girl's dance is not very good, but the boys got some very good dancing moves. Besides, it was NOT supposed to be irish, it is a mix of various kinds of dances.
