Petsmart visits these places and checks that they are getting the care and veterinary care they need. This video was made in 2009, Raindow has since then been under investigation. But sadly we can't always reasure that everyone is doing their job correctly. So you have to report it to the proper authorities. I can stress it enough, you have to turn them in!!!

What they are doing is wrong and cruel, no doubt about it. But you can't just say you want petsmart out of business. There are other companies that take these animals as well. It is the large supplying company that needs to be fixed, not petsmart. For all we know, petsmart doesn't even know this is happening.

This is terribly unfortunate and consumers do need to be educated. the unfortunate reality is that consumerism has led to this. I have worked for both PetSmart and a privately owned local full line pet shop. Becasue we as consumers have demanded that we get things cheap, most local pet shops have gone out of business becasue they are unable to compete with the low prices offered by PetSmart, PetCo, and formerly PetStuff (purchased by PetSmart), DoctorRx, and PetLand (used to be a chain).

There are precious locally owned full line pet shops left or they are mega-stores with an internet component. The few that are left many times have worse conditions than at a PetSmart. The reality is most Americans don't think about it or care when they want the animal for little Johnny.

I cried at the part where they are cutting the parrots nail. I have a parrot (Got mine from a breeder tho) and when we cut his nails, he freaks even when we cut the wry end so they don't over-grow. I don't think you realize, but when animals die, the companies that sell them lose money. Since the whole point of business is to make money, the treatment of th animals would be important. Killing them would be counterproductive. Paying the extra money for proper care costs less than letting their sales die. This is terribly unfortunate and consumers do need to be educated. the unfortunate reality is that consumerism has led to this. I have worked for both PetSmart and a privately owned local full line pet shop. Becasue we as consumers have demanded that we get things cheap, most local pet shops have gone out of business becasue they are unable to compete with the low prices offered by PetSmart, PetCo, and formerly PetStuff (purchased by PetSmart), DoctorRx, and PetLand (used to be a chain).
