Settlers were white, people who lived there before Europeans arrived weren't white. I mean that they were other race. Most people are mixed now, but Cameron Díaz forefathers were Norse Europeans for sure, don't fool yourself. South American natives weren't white, but other race.

@lookagain77 but as I said Im not going to stay here forever with you, is not big deal this topic, at least for me is not big deal that you prefer to call yourself "mestizo" rather than "indio" and that some other ppl prefer to call themselves "moreno" rather than "black", the physical traits are what they are and you cant fight them.......but as Clark Gable said: "frankly my dear I dont give a damn".

@tatacynable I'm not talking about whether it is a right or wrong way of doing things, I'm simply stating HOW IT ACTUALLY IS IN THE MAJORITY OF LATIN AMERICA. PERIOD. There is NO getting around it, it is INDISPUTABLE for the MAJORITY of Latin America. PR, DR, and Cuba only account for LESS than 7% of the entire population of all of Latin America. What ppl call themselves, whether you or I agree with it being a 'good' thing or a 'bad' thing is irrelevant, by the way, we're only discussing FACTS.

Yes, but how actually is in L.american is WRONG from a linguistics point of view, is AS WRONG as only calling "americans" to ppl from the United States. But sometimes we tend to use terms the wrong way and believe they are being used the right way just because "this is how things are for the majority".

@MultiMarc300 where are you from, and where do you live. Spanish from Spain are white, if they have some jews or arab blood. But latin american people are not spanish, they are considered hispanics in America. And they grouped a lot of different ethnicities, white, black, mestizos, native american.
