  • Larry is one of the few people who can make P-90's sound good. I prefer Humbuckers or as we old folks call them Humbuckings. First time I ever heard him was when he was playing with the Jazz Crusaders...long time ago

  • any1, is it worth seeing larry caltson for free live?

  • @TheMainnj make your own decision?

  • Hella bad!!!

  • If only he was playing a Tele! :D

  • I know that sound. Did he play with Steely Dan?

  • @keesvangulik127 Yes...Kid Charlemagene

  • nice tone with those soap bars.

  • Whoa. Rock n roll?

  • this is fucking awesome

  • Comment removed

  • That tone is nasty!!

  • @Gothxha You mean good nasty?

  • @QUIZFILTER Awesome nasty!

  • @Gothxha HAHA cool :) Ya I know exactly what you're sayin', I totally agree! Damn this song would so hot to hear live & loud at some nice outdoor spot during a warm summer evening under the stars or somethin'... that would be so killer!

  • So weird to see him playing a Jr instead of the ES, but I like it. Good sound for this song!

  • I've just discovered Larry, and he's one of my favourites already! ..... I'M STUNNED!

  • the best all-around guitarist ever, fact! I've been working on his style for many years,, it is without a doubt the MOST DIFFICULT OF ALL GUITAR STYLES, BAR NONE! IF YOU'RE A GUITARIST, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN! BENDING THE STRINGS, SLIDING IN AND OUT OF NOTES, PRE-BENDING THE STRINGS, AND A WICKED VIBRATO, AND,,,, A PERFECT SENSE OF MELODY AND HARMONY,,, ALL THIS IS VERY VERY HARD TO DO! HE IS PROBABLY THE BEST GUITARIST EVER, ALL-AROUND!

  • @geetarnut You ever heard George Benson or Wes Montgomery? lol

  • @kahlfin1k OF COURSE! BUT EVEN GEORGE CAN NOT PLAY LIKE LARRY, I HAVE STUDIED JAZZ, AND WHAT LARRY DOES, IS SO HARD TO DO, BECAUSE UNLIKE GEORGE BENSON, AND WES MONTGOMERY, WHO BOTH NEVER BENT THEIR STRINGS, CHANGE VIBRATO TECHNIQUE, AND ALSO PRE-BEND AND SLIDE "INTO", AND "OUT OF" THE TARGET NOTES AND KEYS, SOMETHING THAT LARRY DOES, AND DOES FLAWLESSLY! LARRY HAS MORE THAN 100 GOLD RECORDS FOR GOOD REASON, THANKS FOR YOUR MESSAGE ! TAKE CARE!

  • Was the video done first and the song added to it?

  • he looks like mark knofler lol, i mean just like him, and they both can play guitar

  • Business in the front, the party's in the back!

  • Thank you thank you thank you!

  • nice song. larry is fantastic. if you get a chance, go see his current trio - it is a hundred times better than the type of thing in this vid - playing a rote arrangement. the trio is all about dynamics, interaction, stretching out, living in the moment and just being soooo musical. one of the best concerts i've ever seen.

  • fabulous guitarist... but this is soulless elevator jazz

  • @Wamz1978 true, that style was just a trend, and it got out of fashion fast. thank god.

  • @bluntobjct definitely. But, man, can he ever play? Flawless. His work with Steely Dan is amazing. Just a great guitarist. But this stuff, though obviously well-played, is weather channel fluff

  • Seeing him at the Cooper town guitar festival in Colorado in a few weeks!!!

  • This man is a genius!

  • Bárbaro.

    Jazz rock de alto nível.

  • @minpinful This video is 21 years old. His haircut was trendy those days.... I'm glad he is alive in this video. A few years before he got almost killed by a gunshot... Glad he is still with us. Hope he'll be at North Sea Jazz in 2012!

  • @minpinful wow,, not only were you born deaf, but you're blind too!! Geezzz!!!

  • Comment removed

  • He's playing that on a 50's student guitar! Imagine this on his 57 Goldtop?

  • LC's website has so much useful inside information as to his style, equipment, ect., I'm hoping some aspiring guitarists will try to emulate this incredible talent!

  • cool,,,

  • who the hell those 9 dis-liker ?

  • To be honest, Larry is very underrated. His playing approach is unique

  • @Rogeras32 underated by who, not by you or me

  • @Rogeras32 Underrated???? WTF dude...if you know anything about music and guitar players, which obviously you dont, Larry is regarded as the studio go to guy, and has been for 30+ years. Underrated? as what? a gardener? LOL

  • great jazz

  • @minpinful don't watch it then. Simple enough???

  • @minpinful fuck you this jazz is wonderin

  • Great Larry Carlton!!!

  • Smooth jammin, 90s jazz was bad.

  • この曲は大好き!そして楽しそうに弾くラリーは最高!

    4/1の名古屋を楽しみにしてます

  • This song is so soft and high-class... Its not rock... Its not jazz... Its not smooth garbage... Just Larry Carlton! It's so wonderful to see how every member is moving the ass with the rhythm and dancing excited...

  • @chupioftheloom it's actually a smooth jazz ... lol

  • @fenixx213 Just a question, don't take it bad: Smooth jazz is bad music cause of the label name?

  • I really, really dislike the smooth jazz genre so I'm not a big Carlton fan. But the guy is certainly great at what he does.

  • Legendary Half-Mullet! I have the same cut butI cant play like him :D

  • do you know ifJohn Pena have some relatinship with the great bass player Raph Pena? Good music !

  • Isn't the sax player from Reading Rainbow? Or host it after playing music.. haha?

  • To be honest I could have taken at least five more minutes of that solo.

  • Bubble Shuffle is my favorite! Larry you're wonderful!

  • This is lovely...uplifting!! Makes me smile!!

  • I guess i just don't understand the point of jazz.

  • @bbm187 Go look up Pat Metheny's Unity Village. That's real jazz. This is a lot more pop jazz. I just love Larry's playing.

  • @bbm187 do you understand the point of rock then?

  • I first became aware of Larry when he played on the Jazz Crusaders Southern Comfort album.Todays crop of younger players although technically adept (see John Petrucci, Torcuato Mariano..etc) none are smooth, fluid players like Larry...plus his note selection is just outstanding!

  • he is soloing with his eyes closed...... woooh how cool is that ? ? ?

  • @Pipighnio Cause he is tapping into the source of his soul, baby! That is where this comes from.

  • Larry is coming to town, next month. His third time in Hong Kong.

  • Was it 1990 when Larry got shot?

  • @Gampaman nah mate 1988 outside his studio 'Room 335' - whoever did it was clearly a massive cock!

  • what else can you say about Larry,,,,, unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my favorite song of all time!

  • That's not a mullet, it's a skullet lol.

  • @mystinger72 rofl!!!!

  • One of the most amazing guitar performances ever, IMHO, was Carlton's work on the studio version of Joni Mitchel's Amelia. Believe it or not, it's not a pedal steel you are hearing, but Carlton on his 335 electric.

  • Alexyey, you keep posting Larry like this and I will fall in love with you, this is a fantastic song and an amazing sample of what we Larry fans have come to love, the man is genious on the guitar...wow

  • Music beautiful as this dont need any words to be sung :)

  • one of my favorite songs that he does.

  • nice playing. this song just has a really nice relaxing feel to it. it's awesome

  • Larry Carlton is a God

  • guys cmon...dont even think to compare Larry Carlton and his damn strats with their 21 frets with steve vai and others assholes...i mean that well...they are great guitarist especially steve vai but not like Larry and his damn strats with their 21 frets!!!! :)

  • @marinal0c0v steve vai is a differnet style and carlton and vai are gods from each genre

  • @hiladelphia yeah truly...they are both awesome!!!

  • the Joe Satriani of Jazz.

  • @corv989 AND WHO IS THE STEVE VAI?

  • @deapwavelio Lee Ritenour

  • Very sophistecated!

  • I had seen Larry live on stage in the past 30 years, I am looking forward to see him the third time in Hong Kong or in the States.

  • great great master

  • Great - thx ;-)

  • Truly a great song

  • Carlton! Carlton!! Carlton!!!

  • Carlton! Carlton!! Carlton!!!

  • I normally don't like the fusion vibe, but it's done well here with a bit of soul and passion.

  • Killer Carlton solo!!

  • So much style !

  • Eargasm!

  • Gotta love the chord progression on this...

    Carlton is terrific.

  • Let's here it for the mullet! lol.

Comes to all us aging hippies I suppose!

    Great guitarist.

  • technically, I think it's a 'skullet' :)

  • Mullet... But awesome player!!!

  • Ditto..But dood this is Lord Gawd of Gibson jazz...that is a phucked up mullet...dayum...still this is Lawrence...all props

  • @Kjutte1 It's not a mullet it's a Bullet a Bald Mullet :)

  • @Kjutte1 Skullet that is. And amazing player!!!

  • ive loads of larry on cd, shame all these old guys (like myself) that go bald on top, yet have to pretend they can grow hair elsewhere. .... funny pony tails......

  • Where's it legislated that you must cut off what's left of your hair once you start losing parts of it? I've got all mine so don't think this is personal, but why pick on the guy-it's not pretending-if he wanted to pretend, he'd get a wig and cover the bald part. He's just making the most of what he still has.

  • hair comes and goes, and shallow assholes seem to stay forever

  • i need tab of this song

  • I saw Larry and Four Play at Jazz Alley in Seattle Wa. Priceless!!!

  • Larry Carlton is a Jazz Crusader.

  • Talk about transcending boundaries here. I heard this song on a Disney radio show (MouseWorld Radio) and it's a track used in the Magic Kingdom and/or around some of the resorts. I searched for more info on some of the Disney sites and was able to obtain the name of the artist. After doing a search on YouTube it showed up as the first option and, voila, here I am. Another Larry Carlton fan has been made here. A truly wonderful song and a very talented musician.

  • This song gives me a powerful erection.

  • dose larry use roland amps thats the tone from rolands im sure

  • Larry use Dumble amplifier...
