Close to 1200 residents were still out of their apartments yesterday afternoon, nearly a day after this fire. Officials are checking structural integrity.

The residents were "packrats" and the volume of combustibles contributed to the intensity of the fire.

Most Aerial ladders won't reach above 10 stories...there is no aerial ladder in the world that will reach the 24th floor.

Average Aerial is 100ft, some go to 125ft of elevated reach. If the truck cannot get close enough to building, the aerial has to reach sideways farther, reducing the vertical reach.

Some bucket style trucks are capable of a bit more at 135ft but they do not have a ladder to allow climbing down easily or safely.
