Famas is the most overused, lazy, and plain most boring gun to use. People only use the damn thing just because they think its the best gun.

Skill wise, you can own with any weapon. I annihilated a team using only an M14 with red dot and handle.

I use a Stakeout for close quarters, G11 for long range brain surgery, and a Commando with Masterkey attachment for close quarters/mid range assault.

Yes, I know, the Masterkey is the MANLIEST attachment in the game. Try it out yourself.

Use ninja bro, trust me in that competition everyone is using headsets. If you use ninja, you'll be even with everyone. Everyone else is going to be using ninja. And instead of running around like a bossman, try to cover one area. Probably the most trafficked area. And goodluck to your FFA match. And about the famas, RDS is the best choice, from that its EM or DM with steady aim.

I've found that i can do well with just about any gun in the game, and I've also got that "running around like a psycho" playing style. My favs being the Aug (specifically because it's NOT the Famas, as awesome as it is) and the Enfield (fast aim time). I also find ninja pro to be awesomely useful for pinpointing enemies. Of course, i don't have a headset, but still.
