how long does it take to use up the fresh water in an rv with one person taking 2 five minute showers a day, cooking, flushing the toilet, etc.? How often do you need to refill the tank when boondocking?
@VidLeslie We have 105 gallons of fresh, 65 grey & 45 black. When boondocking, the 2 of us each take 1 VERY sparing navy shower every day & prepare all meals on board. The grey is *always* the limiting factor. One week is easy... 10 days if we're really careful. When the grey is full, there is always at least 1/4 tank of fresh left. Black takes about 2 weeks for us both to fill up. Tips: run shower into a pitcher until warm, turn off shower when soaping up, use paper plates.
Would it be better to use something like "star-san" it's a no rinse sanitizer, that's non toxic like bleach.. Costs a bit more, but might be a better sanitizer for you..
@poormancooking I had never heard of Star San before, so I Googled it. Primarily for cleaning brewery equipment, but might work for water tanks too. Why not try it out and let us know how it works.
