An arm literally cut off by live steam would not bleed. The heat of the steam would instantly cauterize blood vessels, making death by exsanguination impossible as hypovolemia could not occur. Either the report is false or the death was related to the compund effects of burn injuries and shock.
I stayed about the ship for 2 weeks, and had fire watch for the second week. I walked around the hangar and flight deck alone and nothing happened. It's all in your head.
Now he followed them through that other door on the other side if the room and they weren't there. But the thing that was the scariest for him is that his girlfriend didn't see them at all and she was about 10 feet away. Looking at them. But she didn't see anything.
My dad saw two women dressed in uniform there. In one of the display rooms on the 2 or 3 floor. So he didn't know what was going on so he was going to walk up to them and ask them if tonight was one of those nights. and has soon as he and his girlfriend stepped into the room, they turned and just left.
Just so everyone knows, this is a load of bullshit. I worked on the Hornet in the Ship Restoration Department for 5 years. Myself and no one I knew aboard ever reported seeing a ghost, and we were all in areas of the ship that the public is not allowed in. Also, if someone did lose an arm to the ship's super-heated steam, the steam would have cauterized the wound. Even if it hadn't, the sailor's buddies would have immediately rushed him to sickbay. No one works alone in an engine room.
Hmmm, according to the ship caretaker (someone that has been in charge of the care of that ship for the last 6 years) claims he and his crew do not use 15yr olds on the restoration crews. Is your age incorrect on your profile then?
No. Talk to Al Smith, head of Ship Restoration. I joined up with the Hornet for a high school project when I was a freshman and stayed on until 2007. You can also talk to Noel Barker and Chuck Gardener, who worked with me on the ship. I wasn't allowed to climb up to heights of 6 ft or above until I was 18, but I still did a lot of work on that ship, and I am very proud of that. I don't know why you are pursuing this, but if you want to PM me and discuss this further, go ahead.
my family and I were on the Hornet touring near the bow when we smelled cigar smoke??? nobody was around. Later something poked my wife's eye near the sickbay.. weird...
I did not take the picture of the sailor in the medical area, not even close and i did not hear someone say "help me" in the medical area, it was in the chapel. they edited what i said to make it sound like everything was happening in the medical area! Bullshit!!
No one had walked by them. The group had been standing in the room for about 10 minutes or so, then the pipes fell. Nobody was anywhere near the pipes at the time.
the narrator sounds like a baby GLaDOS...

Well, it's an honorary title. "Gigantic Panzy" didn't fit on the overlay.

Wasn't the Hornet sunk during WWII?
Zardoz99 3 years ago
Yes. That was CV-8 sunk in 1942. This was it's replacement.

Ummm, question, what years did you work on the restoration?
joefarthole 3 years ago
2002-2007. That's why I hate to see the old girl treated like this. She's a good ship, she doesn't deserve to be trivialized.
