Fed up with people talking negatively of Carrick. He's such a great footballer to people who understand football properly. However, to those who don't, he's not good enough simply because he doesnt score volleys like scholes or do tricks like Nani. Just a brilliant, composed, hard-working footballer.
Way out of hand, I agree. He's currently our best midfielder, including Scholes, and going by form, consistency and overall contribution in the middle of the park. He's been Utd most regular and consistent midfielder over the past 6 years which has been the most successful 6 years in the club's history.
He might not influence a game quite like Scholes, but he's a wonderful supporting midfielder. Complements all midfielders very well. Can't wait to see him with Cleverley.
His confidence was hit after the final in 2009. His form in 2009/10 season wasn't good, apart from a great spell during January and February. But last season once he recovered from an injury he was in good form. He was playing much more defensively, and as we've heard from Fergie, that's a role he has been specifically asked to carry out, and he did it very well. He of course didn't stand out in an attacking sense or score goals but his performances were not average.
I think there's a lot to his game that is taken for granted. Sure these things are more subtle and might not seem like much to some fans (most of which I believe don't really understand the fundamentals of the game or the tactical elements of it) but it's pretty clear from what I see that our midfield functions so much better wit him in the side. He might not dictate the game but he helps us control it and there's a big difference there.
Bro dont get me wrong. I understand the game a lot better than the average footy fan.I definitely get where you're coming from. I aint saying Carrick is crap or anything. But he does have a lot of drawbacks when he is NOT on form. He needs to have someone to do the running ard etc. On his day Carrick is as good as any CM.
Yeah I agree.. I mean let's face it he's not world class, he has flaws. He's not very mobile, and doesn't recover too well and although he rarely lets himself be put in that sort of situation, it sometimes happens. He's a confidence player really, and when things aren't going well and the game is frantic these weaknesses can really show.
He'd do very well in Spain or Italy, like you say he's tacticaly really good and he'd get that extra bit of time on the ball.
if it were rooney or berbaov, it would have been a goal

If that was Hernandez he would've put the ball on the net.

Mad pass!! Carrick let's us down sometimes but other times .... This ! Keep it up !

@dragonzxd he may let us down "sometimes" but I'd argue he does it less than any player in the squad. It is a myth that has gotten out of hand ...

Erm, hes back on form RECENTLY. But the past 2 or 3 seasons he has been average or below par if you ask me. He was never the same after Barca.

Stylistically and tactically he's very much like Busquets and David Pizzaro. They're essential to the midfield but most of their work goes unnoticed.

Definitely, it'd remind you of Kaka's pass to Crespo in Champions League final 2005.
