I miss playing my contra so much T.T Mine's name was Alexandria, and it was the best functioning instrument in the whole school. Most of the school's instruments were in some state of disrepair, but I guess because people forgot we owned a contra alto until I found it, it stayed in pristine shape. You know how most clarinets (of all pitches) have those crappy sounding upper notes? Alex played them beautifully. Sadly I am graduated now, but I've contemplated trying to convince them to sell it, :)
@ahnisea Its diffrent its more like the Eflat clarinet so the fingerings is different, you will notice if you are told to play scales but its really easy went from Bflat Bass Clarinet to Contra Alto clarinet...Its super fun and Im like the Big daddy of all the clarinets lol
That's awesome! I play that kind of clarinet too! Mine's name is Octavius and he's the most beast member of the band! Our bass line (me, two tubas, two baritones, and two trombones) isn't the best in the world, so in other words...it's me all by my self! Keep rockin out on that thing!
omg i love that clarinet.!! i went from Bb clarinet to bass now im on bass lol i loveee my bass to and ive only had it 4 3 day's!!! (its the school's) do u knoow what grade i have to be in to try for that one.?? im in 8th
I'd love if you found a way to show me some of your music. I play the BBb (Double B flat for those who can't read it) Contrabass clarinet. I loves it cause of how deep it is, and what you played sounded cool.
Just to say... That is a Contra-Alto Clarinet. You should be playing in the key of F# and that's how you would know... I have been waiting for my teacher to get the Contra-Bass... Oh well. You're good though...
okay soooo I've been playing the contra bass, for a few years now and I'm planing on playing it for Solo and Ensemble. Any Suggestions for Solos? I'm a little stuck.
MY band teacher says that for concert band i can try the contra alto and if i like it then i can play it for band sense our contra player moved. but do you have contra alto music or do you use tuba music?
I played this same thing last year for my Symphony Band. I usually had to play a BariSax part, which was HIGH on a Contra Bass FYI, but anyway, It was fun, but then it got kinda boring.... because you got from Bb Soprano Clarinet to Eb Contra Bass and it's like you're in Beginner band all over again. So i'm going back to normal clarinet this year. xD

I can imagine how you are now :3 ((Nice job, once again n.n))
Your school has a Contra Alto? Lucky! I've been on the bass clarinet for 5 years now, love it this is actually my first time hearing one, you're pretty good.
Your play really nice. Thanks for introducing us to this instrument, never saw one before.
Let me give you a hint: Never say, "I'm not very good," It will be evident to those who can tell the difference and the rest of them won't notice. No need to apologize.
Wait is this a contrabass or a contra alto? Because the title says "Contra alto" but the description says "contrabass"...I'm sooooo confused haha but it was realllyy good. I play bass clarinet.
yes it is true that bach never used a metronome and i play contra alto the one your playing and i love it to ive played it for about 3 years now i love it
I love this song i played this in a quartet on my saprano(regular B flat) clarinet. and this year im playing the bass clarinet. THE low e flat ROCKS.nice playing, plz keep ur fingers closer to the horn
It sounds good all you need to do is keep the corners of your mouth tighter because then you can get the higher notes a little easier. Also when you takes breaths space them out. The easy way to see where to breath is by practicing.
