I was a psychiatric nurse but left when I discovered that we weren't helping the patients just sweeping them under the rug with the help of drugs. I had attributed the nasty physical side effects that she describes to the psychiatric disorders from which the patients suffered and it wasn't until later that I realised that the drugs were causing the weird involuntary tongue and facial movements, the over-sensitivity to sunlight (turning the skin purple) and the lack of motivation etc.

I have used Humalog (not human) and Lantus. They both hit like hammers and had no duration. I import pork insulin from Canada and it works much better for me. I prefer the natural insulin. Look at the ingredients used to make Humalog and Lantus. I think it will surprise you. I've had type 1 diabetes for a long time. I will not go back to the sci-fi insulin again. It was dangerous for me. Most doctors follow the pharmaceutical companies advice and do not listen to their patients.
I just read that George H.W.Bush & Dan Quayle with ties to Eli Lilly encouraged the fast track of the rDNA synthetic insulin through the FDA & then the Bush administration tried to limit the public's ability to sue drug companies. The profits from rDNA synthetic insulin affords the powerful to purchase new cars for their children, while we parents of diabetic children are left to purchase coffins or worse for our children, because of the defective insulin that we are forced to buy in America.

My Dad taught statistics at the graduate level, and he told me how easily the same set of data can be skewed to fit whatever situation they needed it to fit—so don't put your faith in statistics. Did it take you that amount of time to realize what you were doing was more harm than good. Did you do any research into the history of prescription meds & its harmful effects during those yrs? The reality is that if you were able to get past these illnesses, like diptheria, measles, etc, then you were as likely to reach 70 and 80 as you are today. If you look at the Weston Price studies you will see that it is majorly dietary. The healthy tribes he studied were profoundly healthy.
This is why I do NOT take drugs, period. I understand that you have to take drugs if you have a truly lethal or debilitating disease/virus/condition, but if you are going to the doctor for something moderate or minor, which you are pretty sure you can beat on your own, if he prescribes you meds just don't take them.

I am a victim of psychiatric medication, and am now in the process of excruciating benzodiazepine withdrawal. I began going to a therapist to try and work things out by just talking, but after just a couple months of that, he referred me to a psychiatrist who promptly prescribed me an antidepressant. Once you are 80 years old and you belong to an HMO and you need to be admited in a Hospital for a costly treatment, then you do not get alive out of the rehab center. You die there from other causes, mostly diarrheas.
My father has been on medicine for as long as I can remember, and he said almost all my life, he has tried to leave this drugs but, he gets so bad when he does, the pills are ment to get him to sleep, to keep him calm and to reduce depression, when he does try to leave them he becomes a monster.. is it to late to try? after say...38 to 40 years of drugs?
@gilajeanne These sound like typical drug withdrawal symptoms. It is extremely difficult to come off and many people cannot take the withdrawal effects. There is good advice on "comingoff. com" There is a danger of a serious side effect from long-term use called tardive dyskinesia that might affect you father eventually. As an intelligent human being you have to advocate for yourself. Look up what they prescribe for you and find out if you even want to take it. If you do take it and it has bad side effects, speak up and demand that they give you something else. Everybody is different and needs to be treated as an individual, not as a protocol. No matter what a Dr. says it is your decision to even pick up the medicine let alone put it in your mouth.

This video is right on. I was told by a doctor to take antidepressant drugs when I wasn't even depressed. He told me I was "clinically depressed" and would not necessarily know that I was depressed. I asked how long I would need to take the drugs and he stated "forever". I declined. You have to be in charge of your life and not let a doctor control you.

I really admire Gwen for speaking out. I've had depression for more years than I can remember. I've tried to do what I can to make myself better with resources I have at hand. I've long suspected that big pharm is all about making money at the expense of patients who are desperately seeking help. I'm not totally dismissing medical doctors, but for the most part, their treatments have not helped. I wish I knew of a program I can trust and is affordable. I am almost ready to just give up.

same here. my ex-pharmawhore (psychiatrist) screwed me up with a drug called risperidone. i don't even know how to repair my life. and i've been off the drug for almost 2 years now.

so i see legal drug ads everywhere, and always...the last side effect is always "coma and death". but marijuana is still illegal, a drug you cant overdose or die from and has proven medical benefit (which is ironic because the government considers it a schedule 1 drug with no medical benefit.)

hi i knew this already i take antibiotics, steroids and have done iv's through the last 10 years. i nearly died in hospital and when i looked they hadn't reported the drug. if i had died it would have been reported as heart attack.

My sister has schizoaffective disorder, and crashed after being tapered off her psych meds, while switching over to natural therapies. After stabilized on the meds, again, she went to a naturopath, and the natural therapies were then combined with the meds. Along with the new, non-gluten, dairy-free diet, her side-effects from the drugs are all but gone. She feels great, now. For those with metabolic imbalances, these combined methods seem to be the solution. For other causes, therapies differ.
For those with metabolic deficiencies, like my sister, who has schizoaffective disorder, as well as low thyroid, since birth, the only thing that may work is to combine naturopathics with the prescription drugs. Her naturopath just found that she is also gluten-intolerant as well as dairy-sensitive. My mom was on almost all the psych meds for my entire life, rotating from drug to drug with each new doctor. At one point she was on 5 meds at once, all psychiatrics. She got worse and worse over time with her mental illness, and it killed me inside to have a crazy unstable mom. WELL, 3 years ago she finally had enough and quit all her meds gradually. She is normal, very happy, and super productive!!! She now runs a christian based rehab program. I can't tell you how pissed off I am at the industry and negligent doctors. I feel like they robbed me of my childhood because my mom was in and out of hospitals. The whole 27 years never ONCE did a doctor say lets try and get you off medications and see if THAT helps. She only started with prozac as a young woman for feeling depressed. I can't believe how quick minded, smart and HAPPY she is now!

The past two years; Cymbalta and Effexor which caused Seratonin Syndrome.
Anyone with any doubts about medication need to look up Seratonin Syndrorme it's quite common and often fatal.

I work in a Treatment Facility for Sex Offenders, and they have many of them on these medications, and I can TOTALLY see all the side effects deteriorating them, and they DO get incredibly catatonic and times as well as very violent. I was a psychiatric nurse but left when I discovered that we weren't helping the patients just sweeping them under the rug with the help of drugs. I had attributed the nasty physical side effects that she describes to the psychiatric disorders from which the patients suffered and it wasn't until later that I realised that the drugs were causing the weird involuntary tongue and facial movements, the over-sensitivity to sunlight (turning the skin purple) and the lack of motivation etc.

Just curious, why isn't natural pork & beef insulin coved by the "Orphan Drug Act", since even Eli Lilly stated that rDNA synthetic human insulin wouldn't work for all diabetics. It seems unjust for American diabetics to have to import the natural pork & beef insulin from Europe & Canada. American diabetics are suffering unnecessarily, because of this situation. Why is profit more important than people's health & quality of life?

I have used Humalog (not human) and Lantus. They both hit like hammers and had no duration. I import pork insulin from Canada and it works much better for me. I prefer the natural insulin. Look at the ingredients used to make Humalog and Lantus. I think it will surprise you. I've had type 1 diabetes for a long time. I will not go back to the sci-fi insulin again. It was dangerous for me. Most doctors follow the pharmaceutical companies advice and do not listen to their patients.

I just read that George H.W.Bush & Dan Quayle with ties to Eli Lilly encouraged the fast track of the rDNA synthetic insulin through the FDA & then the Bush administration tried to limit the public's ability to sue drug companies. My Dad taught statistics at the graduate level, and he told me how easily the same set of data can be skewed to fit whatever situation they needed it to fit—so don't put your faith in statistics. Use them as a measuring tool only, but take them with a grain or five of salt.

Did it take you that amount of time to realize what you were doing was more harm than good. Did you do any research into the history of prescription meds & its harmful effects during those yrs? I have cptsd. complex post trumatic disorder. and was put on zolft and it fucked shit up more. for one i was on edge before i was on the meds, and once i was put on that drug it was 10x more. well needless to say i quit takeing it and thank god it was not a hard come down from it, than i moved from dfw to denver now got my pot card smokeing weed and i have never been so happyer in my life and now doing good in life just need to get my back fixed.

The reality is that if you were able to get past these illnesses, like diptheria, measles, etc, then you were as likely to reach 70 and 80 as you are today. This is why I do NOT take drugs, period. I understand that you have to take drugs if you have a truly lethal or debilitating disease/virus/condition, but if you are going to the doctor for something moderate or minor, which you are pretty sure you can beat on your own, if he prescribes you meds just don't take them.
I am also a certified personal trainer and can tell you from experience that a healthy lifestyle is the BEST medicine by far. I haven't had even a common cold in the last 9 years.

My father has been on medicine for as long as I can remember, and he said almost all my life, he has tried to leave this drugs but, he gets so bad when he does, the pills are ment to get him to sleep, to keep him calm and to reduce depression, when he does try to leave them he becomes a monster.. is it to late to try? after say...38 to 40 years of drugs?

There is good advice on "comingoff. com" There is a danger of a serious side effect from long-term use called tardive dyskinesia that might affect you father eventually. If you do take it and it has bad side effects, speak up and demand that they give you something else. Everybody is different and needs to be treated as an individual, not as a protocol. This video is right on. I was told by a doctor to take antidepressant drugs when I wasn't even depressed. He told me I was "clinically depressed" and would not necessarily know that I was depressed. I asked how long I would need to take the drugs and he stated "forever". I declined. You have to be in charge of your life and not let a doctor control you.

I work with doctors everyday the doctors have went to college for years they know side-effects of these pills more than I do. I really admire Gwen for speaking out. I've had depression for more years than I can remember. I've tried to do what I can to make myself better with resources I have at hand. I've long suspected that big pharm is all about making money at the expense of patients who are desperately seeking help. I'm not totally dismissing medical doctors, but for the most part, their treatments have not helped. I wish I knew of a program I can trust and is affordable. I am almost ready to just give up.

so i see legal drug ads everywhere, and always...the last side effect is always "coma and death". but marijuana is still illegal, a drug you cant overdose or die from and has proven medical benefit (which is ironic because the government considers it a schedule 1 drug with no medical benefit.)

most of medicine is bogus. it is founded on and sustained by lies. it is primarily occupied with covering up the manifestations of illness, not correcting the cause. it does this while causing more disease. i had a patient who quit his job as a drug rep. after after a crisis of conscience and having learned firsthand how people can get well naturally and didn't need drugs for most problems.

hi i knew this already i take antibiotics, steroids and have done iv's through the last 10 years. i nearly died in hospital and when i looked they hadn't reported the drug. if i had died it would have been reported as heart attack.
you are on your own and you have to make your own decision with these things.

My sister has schizoaffective disorder, and crashed after being tapered off her psych meds, while switching over to natural therapies. After stabilized on the meds, again, she went to a naturopath, and the natural therapies were then combined with the meds. Along with the new, non-gluten, dairy-free diet, her side-effects from the drugs are all but gone. She feels great, now. For those with metabolic imbalances, these combined methods seem to be the solution. For other causes, therapies differ.

For those with metabolic deficiencies, like my sister, who has schizoaffective disorder, as well as low thyroid, since birth, the only thing that may work is to combine naturopathics with the prescription drugs. Her naturopath just found that she is also gluten-intolerant as well as dairy-sensitive. Now that she has changed her diet, combined with the natural therapies and her anti-psych meds, she is feeling great, and no more side-effects. Consult a naturopath!

My mom was on almost all the psych meds for my entire life, rotating from drug to drug with each new doctor. At one point she was on 5 meds at once, all psychiatrics. She got worse and worse over time with her mental illness, and it killed me inside to have a crazy unstable mom. WELL, 3 years ago she finally had enough and quit all her meds gradually. I also encouraged her to do so because I suspected even as a young adult that they were more of a problem than a solution. Guess what..read below

She is normal, very happy, and super productive!!! She now runs a christian based rehab program. I can't tell you how pissed off I am at the industry and negligent doctors. I feel like they robbed me of my childhood because my mom was in and out of hospitals. The whole 27 years never ONCE did a doctor say lets try and get you off medications and see if THAT helps. She only started with prozac as a young woman for feeling depressed. I can't believe how quick minded, smart and HAPPY she is now!

Gwen, I heard you speak on Dr Stan Monteith's show recently. My sister was a drug rep for a large Big Pharma company for about ten years too. She now has a degree in holistic nutrition....I learned more about vaccines and what was in them in 2005 after my twins were born and already had a years worth of vaccines and AFTER I was diagnosed with M.S. in 2006 as to what caused this disease in me..God Bless you Gwen...

Ten years in my bedroom because of these meds. I've been off of all medication now for 13 months. I imprisoned myself in my house because of these medications.
The past two years; Cymbalta and Effexor which caused Seratonin Syndrome.
Anyone with any doubts about medication need to look up Seratonin Syndrorme it's quite common and often fatal.
google it and see if you have the symptoms; Seratonin syndrome.

This is so sad! I work in a Treatment Facility for Sex Offenders, and they have many of them on these medications, and I can TOTALLY see all the side effects deteriorating them, and they DO get incredibly catatonic and times as well as very violent. Where do you start to protest? Where does it end? This is just such a vicious cycle!

Americans are also being unethically mass medicated via two-thirds of the public water supply. FLUORIDE (different to the naturally occurring type) is waste product of the aluminium, fertiliser and nuclear industries. Look at research of female toxicologists in Surrey (UK) and also USA. Not natural to our biology, it's assaulting the CNS - memory, learning, behaviour, lethargy, etc. Calcifies the pineal gland. Sleep disorders, thyroid & obesity, ageing, bones and teeth, cancer immunity.

Unfortunately, for someone to stop earning crap tones of money doing something that they know is wrong, either they have to feel guilty for a situation that could have been handled correctly to save a life, or something has to happen to them personally involving a family member or themselves before he/she realized that they need to quit their horrible careers.
