Richard Prince is probably the world's most notorious 'appropriation artist' (i.e. blatant unauthorised copier of others' work) and here we all are watching an unauthorised video of the exhibition of his 'work'! If he has ANY sense of humour or appreciation of wicked irony at all then he would LOVE that you made this film.
I think his work is a load of old rubbish personally. But I do respect him for the fact the he's got everybody fooled.
@Mentocthemindtaker To be honest I'm not sure the Guggenheim is in the practice of stopping these sort of personal videos, but I'll admit I don't know. As far as Prince having everybody fooled though, I beg to differ... He's fallen completely off the list in the 2010 Power 100. The guy isn't much of an artist...he exploited the market for as long as he could (which was actually a pretty brief period). Serious collectors are moving on...
Yeah, great comment...cause Richard's all about love...and stealing other people's work...great generic comment...thanks for adding some witicism to the dialogue
Ridiculously bad. I was depressed for a week after seeing this show. A better show (and more honest) would have been to take 100 vintage Playboy magazines, cut them up, and display the framed pages on display. The show would have been better for lacking Prince's meaningless signature.
Prince also rips off other peoples photos for it, and takes credit. Look at the interview with National Geographic photographer Sam Abell about Prince.
I've just been getting into his art recently, and I heard about his show there. It looks like an absolutely incredible show, I really wish I could have gone. Oh well.
All just "mind masturbation".

Wow, just wow. Does NOBODY see the irony here??

If hapless transcendence is the American ethos,
Prince pummels it like a punching bag.
Wonderful show.
Thank you James.

James, good idea to sub-title, it was hard to focus with you in stealth mode, wanted posters, you crack me up. RS

Charlie Finch on Artnet was brutal when it came to this exhibition:
"Hey, did you hear the one about Frank Lloyd Wright modeling the Guggenheim after a toilet? It's about to overflow with crap."

asdffd,
I hadn't heard that one, good old Charlie. I'd love to get him to comment on one of the shows, thanks JK
Oh and don't forget to get outside and breath some fresh air.
