Because we know a lot more now than we did 40 years ago. Science progresses. Climatologists no longer argue whether or not humans are altering the climate. That's been established. The unresolved questions now are how quickly, by how much, and possibly what we can do about it.

@GWfarce No it's not STUPID: "It was shown that all solar forcings of climate have declined since 1987", "The conclusions of our previous paper, that solar forcing has declined over the past 20 years while surface air temperatures have continued to rise, are shown to apply for the full range of potential time constants for the climate response to the variations in the solar forcings." Lockwood et al PRS-A journal (2008) i.e. the sun's is not the explanation for recent anomalous high temps.

Global warming is all just bullshit. Melting icecaps of the north pole doesnt have any influence in increasing sea levels at all. If the south pole's ice would melt we'd be in more trouble, but thats not happening, theres even more ice on the south pole than before. And even if a lot of ice on the south pole would melt, it wouldn't cause such an increase of the sea level... expanding water at higher temperatures would have a much bigger influence.. Disagree? Tell me why

@Lio1992 the melting of the north poles is melting at a higher rate than the increasing amount of ice at the south poles.Hence, they are worried.
