i work at a wal-mart store as an unloader and i'm damn proud to say that my crew destroys the times we're allotted for trucks. and we don't complain 'cause we're makin' more money than most people in the area since they're on welfare by choice 'cause they're all drug addicts/alcoholics. so where i live is perfect for wal-mart 'cause my social security taxes come back to the store on the first of the month and then i get a quarterly my$hare incentive that's massive 'cause we supermax everytime!

@mallard003: the US government has been borrowing money from foreign nations for years (Japan, Europe, CHINA), especially during the Bush administration when several tax cuts were put into effect-without an alternative source of money to fill in that gap. The tax cuts were put into effect when we started invading the Mideast, which was VERY costly. We had no choice but to borrow money, hence our +$12 trillion deficit.

Just don't build walmart's in shit hick town with less than a 100,000 people. If everyone is working for local stores they are bound to be put out of business. Now of course this won't happen in large metro cities, large retail outlets on each corner cancels itself out. And don't give me this shit about mom and pop store being stripped of their earnings. If Wal-Mart buys most of their products from China, and there's a working business relationship with China, how do we owe them all this money nationally? I've never heard of someone selling products to a debtor, something about that sounds a little off.

@shawnstam, wrong. it was unfair competition. people are going to buy where things are cheaper as walmart hurts the entire community and they must still buy food etc......there is no govt regulation on what is almost a monopoly of cheap goods...no one small business can compete with walmart. yes, if no one went to walmart in a perfect world you would be correct. but it is not a perfect world and people are not that smart.

I have good friends who are teens that have gotten into Walmart. They tell me how difficult it is and I know their unhappier than they've been at other jobs. I just hope somethings done soon.

This documentary mostly answers your question. People get angry because Wal-Mart 'cheats.' They use outsourcing, overwork their associates, have bad health care, and have bad working environments. These are just a few things. However, not all of the blame should be put on Wal-Mart. It is part of the communities' faults for not knowing how to better 'use' Wal-Mart. Some places should have a Wal-Mart, and some places shouldn't.
