if these businees owners had gotten off their ass and work like sam walton did they would be wal mart. i worked for a small family business years ago, they were always complaining about being broke, theni found out they were leasing bmw's for family members. f small business. my boss cut my healt insurance then i found he was paying for flying lessons for his 16 yo grandson. what a prick.
am already boycotting Wal-Mart (good idea). Also, THERE IS a new direction we can move towards. Check out and join thezeitgeistmovement and check out and join thevenusproject. i work at a wal-mart store as an unloader and i'm damn proud to say that my crew destroys the times we're allotted for trucks. and we don't complain 'cause we're makin' more money than most people in the area since they're on welfare by choice 'cause they're all drug addicts/alcoholics. so where i live is perfect for wal-mart 'cause my social security taxes come back to the store on the first of the month and then i get a quarterly my$hare incentive that's massive 'cause we supermax everytime!
So shopping at Wal-mart and K-mart is hurting communities, employees and the economy. Can someone name some major grocers and retailers with honorable practices, please? Target? Marsh? Barnes and Noble? I'd need to persuade my family to shop somewhere else.
@mallard003: the US government has been borrowing money from foreign nations for years (Japan, Europe, CHINA), especially during the Bush administration when several tax cuts were put into effect-without an alternative source of money to fill in that gap. The tax cuts were put into effect when we started invading the Mideast, which was VERY costly. We had no choice but to borrow money, hence our +$12 trillion deficit.
PBS,org has a nice documentary on the debt. search "trillion dollars"
Just don't build walmart's in shit hick town with less than a 100,000 people. If everyone is working for local stores they are bound to be put out of business. Now of course this won't happen in large metro cities, large retail outlets on each corner cancels itself out. And don't give me this shit about mom and pop store being stripped of their earnings. Everything they sell comes from china too.
If Wal-Mart buys most of their products from China, and there's a working business relationship with China, how do we owe them all this money nationally? I've never heard of someone selling products to a debtor, something about that sounds a little off.
@salers2 Yeah but the money still goes into Chinas economy. I know it's really our fault as a community for doing it, but I really think the best course of action would be to default on the debt, and start military exercises around the Chinese mainland.

I don't know what fool you are following but they do say, who is the bigger fool, the fool or the fool that is following that fool, wise up the planet cannot sustain greed, you want to believe it can but it can't so start taking what you need and no more and live a healthier happier life!
"There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else."
@shawnstam, wrong. it was unfair competition. people are going to buy where things are cheaper as walmart hurts the entire community and they must still buy food etc......there is no govt regulation on what is almost a monopoly of cheap goods...no one small business can compete with walmart. yes, if no one went to walmart in a perfect world you would be correct. but it is not a perfect world and people are not that smart.
I have good friends who are teens that have gotten into Walmart. They tell me how difficult it is and I know their unhappier than they've been at other jobs. I just hope somethings done soon.
This documentary mostly answers your question. People get angry because Wal-Mart 'cheats.' They use outsourcing, overwork their associates, have bad health care, and have bad working environments. These are just a few things. However, not all of the blame should be put on Wal-Mart. It is part of the communities' faults for not knowing how to better 'use' Wal-Mart. Some places should have a Wal-Mart, and some places shouldn't.
@Animaznboy EXACTLY BIG CITIES SHOULD HAVE ONE WALMART OR TWO BUT A CITY LIKE MINE DALTON GA SHOULD NOT HAVE WALMART AT ALL IS TAKING ALL OUR PROFITS, IS A CHINSES COMPANY AND WORKS LIKE A CHINESE COMPANY
Wow....what a fictional movie . The union still is playing their games to try to get into Wal-Mart. Well, atleast they have quit the bomb threats they once pulled on Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is my employer and I love my job. I couldn't quit there and make what I make any place else where I live. Wake up world you just watched a fictional movie with paid actors.
Socialism, Capitalism, Communism, Fascism... any government is capable of failure. The perfect government is what is perfect for its people. For the government to be perfect for its people the people have to change before they change the government.
Wow, some of these comments prove just how niave people are. Times haven't changed, big corporations have been driving small businesses out of business for decades. The problem is that a WAL-MART isn't enough to sustain an economy, anywhere. Which hurts the very person who probably wrote the last comment.
I agree, but if you saw the whole thing the victims are the employees not any one else. I would still shop at Wal-Mart because if wal-mart screws there employees the employee should quit. as for these other small business owners its not like there gunna die. they probaly will still have customers.
i work for walmart...it sucks..theyve screwed me over plenty...but some of us just doesnt have a choice to quit...just finish college as fast as possible is the only solution to leave....no other jobs around cept the mines..
U are right that if thats the only place u work at u wont wanna loose that job, especially right now. I had a hard time getting a job at stater bros. (a market) , i think the employees need to speak out and get heard, many employees have been trying but they need government help cuz walmart isn't scared of anybody else.
yea...if we even mention Union...as a joke even...we're terminated for any reason rly....sucks =[ ...and i rly wish the gov. would help us...when i get outta college and get the real money going....ill do everythign in my path to bring walmart down (locally anyways)..wish me luck
thats horrible. at my store ill get fired if i don't join our union. i would like to help u take wal-mart down! and btw what are u studying at college.
The government would help you; if conservatives actually cared and didnt say things like socialism; then yeah the government would help you. Too bad for you.
K Mart was started in 1962 the same year wal mart started ..k mart built stores in the south left & right running mama & poppa outta business and nobody said shit. wal mart had a tough time building store's in the north the south hating bigots had a hissy fit!
Yo, Wal Mart and K Mart are owned by the same people, they are sister stores. Home Depot and Lowe's are also owned by the same people. They use this technique for everything. They control the competition and in politics they control the opposition. Age old technique but people are too stupid to understand the situation.
do you know why they havent ever sold the DVD or let the DVD of this bee shown? because they still fear the independent business. and they fear that which they cannot control. and to all you people that work at wal-mart. die.
several ma/pop store in my town who was around for over 30 years closed because of lowes and walmart. if people really cared for the store, they'll go to the little stores. but people actually don't give a crap when walmart super value is offered.
Probably all the money they make goes back to the Rothschilds!
