I could totally write an entire paper on this issue. It has to do with our perceptions of masculinity, and patriarchy, etc. Actually...I did write a paper on this at some point in college. @kazegara Wrong. Only four verses - one in Deuteronomy and three in 1st Kings - use the word SODOMITE. In each case it is associated with idolatry or prostitution. The Hebrew word which the KJV translates as "Sodomite", is "Kadesh". Kadesh refers to male prostitution in pagan religious rites. A Sodomite is the male equivalent of a female temple prostitute, used for sexual rituals and orgies to false gods, such as Dionysus, Bacchus, Baal, and Dagon. (cont)

@kazegara Because so many people incorrectly believe that Sodom was destroyed because of homosexuality, "homosexual" is assumed to be the definition of "Sodomite", and it is from this assumption that the newer term "Sodomy" was invented (referring to anal sex). However, the Hebrew word “Kadesh” does not refer to the nation of Sodom or the so-called act of “Sodomy”. I could go on about the New testament, but you can find the truth yourself if you're willing to stop accepted untruths on "faith".

The Greek word for “sodomite” (arsenokoites) literally means “male copulation” or “male sexual relations.” The Greek “arsen” means “male” and “koites” means “coitus” or “sexual relations.” Paul uses the same word in 1 Tim 1:10.

I could totally write an entire paper on this issue. It has to do with our perceptions of masculinity, and patriarchy, etc. Actually...I did write a paper on this at some point in college. Like Adam, my friends are all like whatever, but the average people are really attached to their nice safe ideas of what is male and what is female. When you start deviating from that people have issues.

@Sk8erg360 The bible never states that homosexuality is a sin. The book of Judges mentions but has very little to do with homosexuality. The more commonly cited 2 verses of Leviticus carry no weight unless you choose to ignore the New Testament and believe Mosaic law (eating shellfish would be a sin). God spells out the sins of Sodom in Ezekiel 16:48-49, and homosexuality is not on the list. In the first chapter of Romans (read the entire passage), Paul condemns people who condemn homosexuals.
