@TheHEADonWHEELS Again I repeat. No where specially london , paris ,NY has the luxury and comfortable and great life as Dubai. So don't argue with me cause nothing absolutely nothing you can say to convince otherwise.
And I told you earlier, I am Iranian not Arab. An Iranian who had been almost all over the world and felt bored! and couldn't wait to get back to Dubai, U.A.E
@TheHEADonWHEELS HAHA, Believe me swear you made me laugh deeply, tnx. I think those people who think the love for a city or country is ridiculous are very wrong and they themselves are fool to have such an idea, hahaha. No problem you stick to your london and I stick to my Dubai. For your information you can not compare the economy of Dubai with london. If you had good economy your people wouldn't compete to come to Dubai! and if your economy was good then why you had the recent disaster?!
@TheHEADonWHEELS My friend, you made my day by making me laugh from the bottom of my heart. I haven't been laughing for a long time. tnx. Unfortunately I have to travel to your london next month for business purpose, I really don't want to go there as I feel sad the moment they gave me visa. I was hoping my visa to be rejected that at least have an excuse not to go. Meanwhile all five fingers are not the same; you love london and I love Dubai. So what?!!
@TheHEADonWHEELS That is your opinion. As I mentioned earlier , I had been in many places around the world specially the places which you have mentioned. That is why I said Dubai is the best comparing to other part of the world. The life style, the safety, the luxuries, kindness, humanity. If you see Dubai as a ghost town !!! then I really don't know what to say!. London specially recently with all the troubles inside+ cold city, jobless, boring. non-friendly and as well as 2 other places
This should not be debated on. History proved that Capitalism works great at the beginning, becomes even greater and better after some time, but then when any economical crisis strikes it, it fails badly, and in an ugly way. Capitalism does not work, end of story.
@arrowhead9000 turkey is in asia minor. it's not a european country, and it never will be. and if that's true, tell the turks in germany to go back there.
@karlsmith00 I said "fastest growing economy with territory in Europe" which includes Turkey, Russia, and even Kazakhstan. And you can tell the Turks over there whatever you want loser, I live in New England USA
@arrowhead9000 TURKEY ISN'T IN EUROPEAN TERRITORY, DUMB BITCH. IT'S IN ASIA MINOR. can you read?
and kazahkstan doesn't have any territory in europe either. it's in central asia. get a fucking map and pull your head out of your ass. you should go live in turkey if you think it's so great.
@arrowhead9000 My friend if Turkey is booming today please do not forget that the amount of 18.5 billion dollar were seized from Iranian government who stole from it's nation to pass it to terrorist (hassan nasrola). Turkey asked world monetory for 10billion dollar as a loan with interest and now they have 18.5 billion without interest. Pls don't get me wrong here I don't blame Turkey as this is their country and most of the government worldwide think of their people and country except IRAN!!
Madame Shahla shame on you. Definitely you are not originally Emarati. I am Iranian and have been living in U.A.E for the last 20 years. I have been traveling all over the world I should say Dubai is one of the best with a lot of safety. Rulers really truely are patriots and do their best for their country vice-versa to some other countries. Look to Iran. See how the rulers destroy such a beautiful country and make Iran and the whole world unsafe!! Lady, open your eyes.
SHAME ON YOU PEOPLE! Starting with the british man. If Dubai is finished, why british compete and raced to be in Dubai by all means?!! you as british are sucking people's blood and do what? Today the whole world knows about your policies. Now you lady. Don't you feel shame?
Dubai is open border; whoever don't like can leave. Why stay and criticise. I am Iranian hv been here for 20 years. You should live in Iran to understand the meaning of ruler's lies! cruelity, lack of freedom.
Don't worry Just like all great Civilizations this one too will Fall.... The Oil will run out and you'll all go Broke.... @MrGaySpartan I agree that Dubai lacks culture, it looks very reminiscent of the typical Western country. However your assertion that Arabs(as if they're all confined inDubai) have nol culture is just ridiculous and absurd.
Dubai before 2005 boom was HEAVEN. Post real-estate boom, it lost its soul to money and ego. It seems that they have learned this important lesson and will keep going.
As an American used to braindead puppet debates....I am SHOCKED to see a moderator ask hard questions and rail against EVERY guest. lol!!! In the states they coddle every one and act like no one is ever lying or incompetent.
@mrgimp420 Those of us that are used to listening to BBC World Service are familiar with this kind of questioning. Journalism here in the US is a shame
@ibenzawla Agreed. After living in the US for a year I've learned that the only thing that journalism over here is good at is making me want to repeatedly bang my head against a brick wall. US mainstream journalism is invariably biased and has been dumbed down to the point where it lacks any intellectual content.
There seems to be a serious lack of empathy in the world these days. Why can't we all agree on the basic premise that we protect at least the woman and children from the predators of the world? I'm tired of hearing about the abuse of woman in the world and yet nothing is ever done by those that could. This guy just talk right through this woman, very disrespectful. I think she held her composure well. The host comes off as very pompous and arrogant.
Lol...I love the stupid american bitch who calls UAE 'my country'.....all arab men over there must be lookin at each other goin...'Is this white bitch high??'....LMAO!
Awesome debate. Mishal Kanoo, had some good arguments, even though I disagreed with him on the issue of passing on the human rights responsibility to corporations. There were some good arguments raised by him, including the environmental issue 44:45, that was entertaining.
Financial economies are false economies, built on tricking people into believing in money, and then finding any way possible to invent more money for the few to squabble over. Dubai I am not impressed.
AT 36:00 she was refering to the eastern european hoes in and around the city not the locals, the questioner and the other arab guy are thinking that the locals are made into sex slaves which is completely untrue.
What is this how come i see the host questioning UAE's political system when Qatar has got an identical system and how is show airing, i mean how does the government allow such a show to run. W
The woman on the panel makes herself look kind of dumb here, by ranting and getting all worked up. People will never evolve socially as fast the economy, epically with the business boom that was/is present in Dubai. The idea that human rights laws would change as fast as the buildings being put up by western companies who exploit these laws is ridiculous.
dubai is gay, saudi arabia is better, we aint that abitious and we still have the biggest economy in the arab world and we get more tourist than egypt does and dubai combined thats funny considering how conserative saudi culture is.
@Almutairi999 well hajj is their isn't all muslim want to visit because of medina and mecca if it wasnt that i dont think you will get money people and egypt is growing very fast it will pass you soon cause it is huge population i dont know per capital but definitely gdp
@Almutairi999 yes it does but egypt is growing very fast and they are more higly educated phd than saudi egyptians are smarter than khaleji arabs but again it is not about egypt vs saudi they are all arab muslim

Why is dubai's econimic plan, value, and worth agruing? Are there not more important issues that convey themselves across the world? Is dubia a threatining country? Regardless of its sink or float i must be indifferent. None the less i find this debate interesting.
all things being equal, look at the panelists. A foreigner and an arab expatriate woman on one side, and two arab men on the other. Who would the arab audience vote for just on those attributes alone?
Yay lets praise capitalist dictatorships like China or Pinochet-era Chile I mean they "worked" as a free-market which is the only thing the moderator seems to care about.
I would prefer to live in an imaginative and 'can do' environment like Dubai. Than in this miserable open door to immigration and freeloading nonsense of a country I do now,
so dubei has some kinks to work out so what. so did America when it started out. we had civil right issues and labor problems but it still prospered. I think the real problem is that no one wants to see a MUSLIM COUNTRY develope instead wed all love to see the successful arab country just wither in the wind and die out. I for one hope they succeed and prosper but I would love to see these countries work on a lot of anti terrorist issues and human rights.
USA is not a country I'd like to live in anyways I don't call it prosper.
And we'd love to see all arab countries have awesome education, health, durable green economy for EVERYONE but certainly not the frantic capitalist jungle that Dubai is now where only the "fittest" can climb to the top and where the rest can only "dream" of it and shut up about it...
Moderator is an idiot. "Its wonderous" what a dick. What Dubai is is subsidized.the U.A.E had to bail it out in Feb 2009 at a cost of 10 billion. And just few months later (Dec. 2009) Abu Dhabi had again as it as done many times before prop up Dubai. They are even naming the new tower after the Abu Dhabi's leader as appreciation for saving their ass once again.
This guy needs an Oscar for being the most annoying moderator in the world. I have never wanted to shoot someone before, but this stupid pommy is making it hard for me.
Dubai simply demonstrates that markets never fail to weed out those acting on poor judgement and/or hubris. Albert Speer Jr. is cited as saying (Der Spiegel) that many of Dubai's buildings, post-2003, will have to be demolished within ten years because they are poorly constructed and have no purpose. As per George Gilder's 'The Israel Test', Dubai has concentrated on the wrong underpinnings to build up wealth in the UAE, for when the oil and gas run out.
Dubai is a bad idea. It is not a beacon of hope, it's just a city where the already wealthy in the world can get richer.
With all it's excesses, it is a place for the rich to be happy and the poor to work hard to meet ends meet. It hasn't contributed to the betterment of Emarati's as well, all the development and experience is made without much involvement from the Emaratis or the Arabs.
It has been debated countless times before in history. It is a historical fact that kapitalism run free, runs amock and crashes pitifully. It demands some form of market regulation because the system has the inherent problem of overextending itself. Dubai is a concept which works quite well, the problem is that they overextended themselves too fast and too much, add a crisis and ur boned.
Dubai is a bad idea for it was inevitable for Russian money laundering which found a hub in Dubai to drive in Russian mafia, with its obvious connections to Israel and Mossad, and eventually things like murder and assassination as well as fatal hits to the economy will take place so that Jewish bankers could then move in and buy that economy for cents on the dollar as history showed us in post Waterloo battle and the great depression in the united states.

The city is responsible for the company, as the company has an obligation for the city, to maintain the city. Cities should be on top to make sure, that a better health and benefit of the people is required.
I thought the term "camel jockey" was just a figurative ignorant insult not an actual degrading practice.People,if you can call them that, with excessive power seem to be degenerate accross the board.
The dude making "the point" said himself that people in SUVs in Dubai are "the Europeans"... Which Europeans are you talking about?... Furthermore you could ask which "companies" which "workers" and on and on.
That was actually the same as saying "shut up, a foreigner woman has no say in this"
And yeah that woman was an idiot but his answer was just populist garbage made for people to applaud and agree...
A lot don't like slave labor but they go on vacation to places like Dubai and buy products made by exploited workers.
It is the CONSUMERS who are responsible for these unfortunate events in the market.
The State is people.
All they can do is attempt to regulate with force and intimidation to have people like you depend on them for market stability instead of teaching others about the importance of the democracy of the market and the real causes of exploitation.
All you've managed to do is explain why millions of people have to suffer, die, and be exploited for the Free Market to ever be the guiding light of the world.
You're essentially saying that people who run businesses have no responsibility for their actions, and that it's up to the people who are bombarded with propaganda to make decisions.
The Free Market doesn't account for it's victims.. It's a mindless expanding system with no moral restrictions or limitations.
You contradict yourself because you want democracy but want to put the regulation of a market in the hands of a central planning agency instead on the hands of everyone who regulate such market with the way they spend their money.
The State offers limited democracy, limited to the biggest percentage of voters and a group of politicians who are easy to bribe, under an institution like the State, that is easy to infiltrate and have a corporatist system take over like we have today.
I contradict myself? Let's say we strike away all regulations in the United States tomorrow. What do you think walmart workers would look like in a year? What do you illegal immigrant workers would look like? The evidence only leads anyone to believe that they'd be turned into cattle underneath competing enterprises.
The state offers barely any democracy, and has been historically terrible, but currently the alternative is the rule of private institutions.
I'm not saying remove all regulations within one day. That is an absurd misinterpretation by closeminded collectivists who fear the quasi-natural regulation of the market.
I propose a transition, not magic.
It is a sad thing that you need a monolithic entity with a monopoly on violence like the State to deal with people instead of people taking up some responsibility for their actions.
The problem with "transitioning" is you have to believe that those with power will be willing to let it go, and it's going quite in the opposite direction. The ironic thing is that if anyone wants to change our system, they'll have to take a collectivist stance.
You sound like an Anarcho-Capitalist with your disdain for the state, but love of the Free Market. Would that be an accurate description?
"Those with power" have power thanks to our ignorance and fear.
Yes, they're trying to centralize power but their reputation is decreasing and our collective knowledge is growing.
People are finding out that State intervention in the market causes the problems, not deregulation. With the economy getting worse people will realize this even more.
The transitioning is happening and I'm trying to speed it up.
(What is "our system"?)
Yes, your guess is correct about what I sound like.
The United States government is in bed with our private sector, and has been for a long time. This is not a Free Market economy, and regulations come and go with what we have.
But again, let's say you strike the regulations away; Then you simply have a private sector with enormous capital backed by the most powerful state on the planet that have no restrictions on them at all.
In reality, this will lead to disaster, and not democracy.
Private institutions are private, not of the State, what you are talking about is CORPORATIONS.
Big difference.
Corporations are companies that were given immunity and privileges over other companies, this is not private, this is the State forming market entities.
This is one of the major mistakes you people make and it causes you to blame Capitalism.
You say corporatism(State-private merging) is not free market. I agree!
Thanks for pointing it out, but that hardly absolves businesses of responsibility.
Also, do you really think the consumer desires exploited labor? Exploited labor seems more of a result of competing businesses for time, efficiency, and cost. They'd use outright slavery if they could.
Also, I think that was my initial point - Even with regulations in place, people are still trampled over. I doubt much good would change without them.
thats a pretty good video . Dubai buble will brust they jsut keep buying more and more. They just beat the world record for tallest building and they already started bulding a even taller one .
Stop being another mainstream sheep. The Iranian PEOPLE and the Arab PEOPLE have nothing against eachother. Just the governments. And since you are old enough to watch this you should also be old enough to know that NO government in the world represents people. Stop the hate.
dam now they trying to break down uae....just like they did to iraq...

all things being equal, look at the panelists. A foreigner and an arab expatriate woman on one side, and two arab men on the other. Who would the arab audience vote for just on those attributes alone?

so dubei has some kinks to work out so what. so did America when it started out. we had civil right issues and labor problems but it still prospered.

This debate is pointless.

That was actually the same as saying "shut up, a foreigner woman has no say in this"
And yeah that woman was an idiot but his answer was just populist garbage made for people to applaud and agree...

It is absurd to have a monolithic institution like the State regulating such a complex network like the market.
What greater democracy than a free market, where everyone has a vote. Everyone chooses where to work and buy.
Does the State promotes responsibility or dependence?
The answer is clear.
If Dubai's private sector fails it would have to reform itself.
asperin 2 years ago
Did you miss the part about human trafficking and human rights abuses that can't even be kept up with regulations?
Market economies encourage growth, but the idea of an unregulated Free Market is pretty sadistic.

@eternallord
A lot don't like slave labor but they go on vacation to places like Dubai and buy products made by exploited workers.
It is the CONSUMERS who are responsible for these unfortunate events in the market.
The State is people.
All they can do is attempt to regulate with force and intimidation to have people like you depend on them for market stability instead of teaching others about the importance of the democracy of the market and the real causes of exploitation.
asperin 2 years ago
All you've managed to do is explain why millions of people have to suffer, die, and be exploited for the Free Market to ever be the guiding light of the world.
You're essentially saying that people who run businesses have no responsibility for their actions, and that it's up to the people who are bombarded with propaganda to make decisions.
The Free Market doesn't account for it's victims.. It's a mindless expanding system with no moral restrictions or limitations.
eternallord 2 years ago 9
@eternallord
No. All I did is say where does the problem originates, what causes it.
People who run business seek to address the demand and if the demand is to provide exploited labor they will do it.
The providers cares as much as the consumer does, both are human.
A free market is a market without central regulation.
Central regulation is composed of people who can be the same who exploit people, and this is what happens today.
The market is regulated and people are exploited.
asperin 2 years ago
@eternallord
You contradict yourself because you want democracy but want to put the regulation of a market in the hands of a central planning agency instead on the hands of everyone who regulate such market with the way they spend their money.
The State offers limited democracy, limited to the biggest percentage of voters and a group of politicians who are easy to bribe, under an institution like the State, that is easy to infiltrate and have a corporatist system take over like we have today.
asperin 2 years ago
I contradict myself? Let's say we strike away all regulations in the United States tomorrow. What do you think walmart workers would look like in a year? What do you illegal immigrant workers would look like? The evidence only leads anyone to believe that they'd be turned into cattle underneath competing enterprises.
The state offers barely any democracy, and has been historically terrible, but currently the alternative is the rule of private institutions.
eternallord 2 years ago 4
@eternallord
-Cont-
asperin 2 years ago
The problem with "transitioning" is you have to believe that those with power will be willing to let it go, and it's going quite in the opposite direction. The ironic thing is that if anyone wants to change our system, they'll have to take a collectivist stance.
You sound like an Anarcho-Capitalist with your disdain for the state, but love of the Free Market. Would that be an accurate description?
eternallord 2 years ago
@eternallord
Yes, your guess is correct about what I sound like.
asperin 2 years ago
The United States government is in bed with our private sector, and has been for a long time. This is not a Free Market economy, and regulations come and go with what we have.
But again, let's say you strike the regulations away; Then you simply have a private sector with enormous capital backed by the most powerful state on the planet that have no restrictions on them at all.
In reality, this will lead to disaster, and not democracy.
eternallord 2 years ago 6
@eternallord
I agree!
This is not what I propose.
-Cont-
asperin 2 years ago
Thanks for pointing it out, but that hardly absolves businesses of responsibility.
Also, do you really think the consumer desires exploited labor? Exploited labor seems more of a result of competing businesses for time, efficiency, and cost. They'd use outright slavery if they could.
Also, I think that was my initial point - Even with regulations in place, people are still trampled over. I doubt much good would change without them.
eternallord 2 years ago 3
@eternallord
If you remove regulations you remove ANY involvement of the State in the market, if not there is not deregulation.
So there can't be any private sector being backed by the State.
Again, I do not propose this.
Observe your words.
"Also, do you really think the consumer desires exploited labor?"
If this is the case and DEMAND is NOT a result of exploited labor then WHY in the heck would you fear that DEMAND will cause exploitation.
-Cont-
asperin 2 years ago
@eternallord
If you do not understand Supply and Demand, confuse "Capitalism" with "Corporatism", what I say will always sound weird to you.
You are opposing something you do not understand. If you did understand you will be on my side.
