I was out on the water when this came in, it came in very fast, we where just about to pull into the yawt club in pet to get gas when the power went out and the wind hit, we had to stay out because I work with the OPP as a student on the boat, I was surprised we did not get any calls for stranded boats out on the river.
@kings114 depends on the situation, i am just the student working with the opp, but if people where in danger we would of most likely have got the persons to come upon our boat if they felt theirs was unsafe in the weather.
Hey! Thanks for the comments ... the storm actually got a little worse after the taking of the video. Part of that back canopy broke off, so we had to hang on to it or it would be lost in the wind and, a 14 ft aluminium boat with a 25 HP motor on it drifted past us with no one in it. We saw it later near shore when we headed back down river. Some other people were towing it in ...
We have learned to respect the river and watch for storms!
i work at the marina in petawawa, and i was filling up this very boat while your mom told me about how scary this storm was, and she was so thankful to make it alive. in the bakc of my mind i was thinking, she cant be serious, it couldnt have been that bad. so i promised her i would check out the video and now i can see why she was so frightened. in all my 16 years of living with te ottawa river i have never seen anything that severe. glad you guys made it back safe!

that was the craziest storm I have ever seen in my 31 years here in west ottawa. Lucky you made it out, 2 died on the water yesterday from the storm.
