The 3DO was awesome for its day!! I bought mine on November 15th 1994 along with every game available for it at the time! I continued to buy every game that came out it until I sold it on 12th of December 1996 when it died and I bought a shit hot PC that cost me over £2000 when most of the 3DO games where available for PC!

The racing games are impressive. Damn impressive! Far better looking than even later PSX racers, unless my eyes decieve me! Just a shame companies like Panasonic, and Phillips, made very bad choices when it came to manufacturing and pricing, or the technology, and gaming market may have been a lot different today.

In my point of view the 3DO seems to be the BEST of the "worst" consoles, 'cause it has great graphics, great games, a good third-party support and a great controller, the one and only bad thing about it was the price. Every collector should have this console in his collection.

I played Star Control and Return Fire with my brother a long time ago. Both were enjoyable. Also, I noticed you had Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller in your collection. I also remember that game. This was also the first time I played Gex as well, I played the 3DO & Playstation versions. Come to think of it, I never beat the secret channel yet.

wing commander 3, star control 2 and escape from monster manor were my favorite. Wing commander 3 was like 4-5 cd's I forgot as it's been a long time since I had this system. There's one other game that was my top favorite but I forgot what the name of it was. You are a taxi driver in the future and have to buy armor/weapons like set a Gatling gun on your car while getting customers. If you remember what the name of it was please tell me.

Shock Wave on the Panasonic 3DO was one of my favorites. Escape From Monster Manor was way fun too, loved the ambience. I only wish I had the original games / demo discs, that came with the console to share. Remember TWISTED. That was way fun for friends especially.

I spent many, MANY hours playing Star Control 2, the game is simply huge. Even to this day I sometimes play it.

And it's amazing the batter memoey in my 3DO still has all my saved games :O

I recall when this and the other cd-rom consols came out (Philips' and Amiga's) came out being amazed at the idea of cd-based games.

In many ways, these all failed because they were ahead of the curve a bit. Thhe public wasn't yet ready for cd-based games I think.

I found a boxed goldstar 3do for 25$ with only 5$ shipping costs, and thought this was a pretty good deal except it has no cables with it. since the system was a licensed product I thought they would use generic power and av cables. what kind of scart cable can I use on this system, or is it best to let this one skip?

you can download the games free in iso format and burn with programs like Nero, but if you are a collector it does get expensive. A guy I know at my college got an M2 development console,development software a prototype racing game for $50 bucks at a Fea Market.

3do2. It was an add on that was suppose to make the system 64 bit (ahh the bitwars of the

90s I miss u so) and it actually could have matched up with the power of the N64 and have the video and audio abilities of the sony playstation. It was to be released shortly after the playstation, but never did.

I bought a 3DO in 1997. Back then, most people did not have access to the internet and 3DO game reviews were hard to find. I had to base my buying decisions on box art and availability. Games were hard to find, and you would pretty much take what you could get.
