HG Wells ... as irresponsible with his fiction as religions are with their superstitions? I think there's a case for it. If you're going to wonder about the unknown and then make things up, why spread fear? Is it possible he thought that it would end wars on Earth if we dreamt there might be a common enemy from Mars?
The music to Cosmos was done by Vangelis, a greek composer who was in the prog rock band 'Aphrodite's child'. If you like pink floyd, you should definitely check them out.
If Carl's body hasn't completely deteriorated by now, I'd dig up his coffin, open it up, and munch on what's left of his limp, lifeless and deliciously enlightening cock.
@zanzibartraveler09 We can remember and honor visionary men and women like Carl Segan by embracing in our hearts their curiosity, ask questions, respect for facts, be in awe of the mirical of life. Live intensively
@zanzibartraveler09 That would be awesome...having a GOOD science teacher makes all the difference, never met Carl but I had a science teacher in high school who was a PhD in physics and I LOVED his class, he was one of the only teachers I had that really ACTUALLY knew the subject he was teaching...
To alconaftika that is Carl Sagan but it is also Orson Wells doing the War of the Worlds. If you will listen closely you will recognize the voice from his reading of the script that scared everyone on Halloween so many years ago, People thought it was real hen!
@dannyboyfour No, i mean learning about the universe and letting people know what's out there. Just because he was an avid pot smoker doesn't change a thing, he was still a great man and was still able to do all the things he's known for regardless of the pot...
@mgduffman Yeah, it was a joke man. I agree with you that learning about the universe (and in Carl's case teaching about it) is an amazing thing, and that's what he should be remembered for, and it's something we should all set aside some time for. I'm just saying that a quick joint as well couldn't hurt ;)
I agree, we could all learn many a thing from Sagan. First that pot is ok, actually it's better than ok, it's hella good. Second the universe is a wonderful and mesmerising place. Most of all though, our planet needs to be treated with more respect, and mankind needs to get over itself and come to realise that we need to respect it.
@Moirera the planet can kiss my ass I have no respect for a biosphere where bacteria eats humans alive. it's humans who should be protected not the rest of the Earth. We have to preserve certain features of the Earth's environment simply because alternative scenarios would make life for humans even worse than it is already.

Cosmos with Van Gelis' music would be like Breakfast Club without Simple Minds. Just wouldn't work.

It is wonderful that people like Carl Sagan lived to discover many things about space and inspire other people.

Great music! Holst's The Planets, random baroque period pieces and Vangelis to top it all off!
