In this case, the thermostop meant that the machine was heating and tumbling. As soon as the machine reaches the right temperature, the timer advances. My Miele W 720 does that, too, when I'm washing on a short wash.
In this case, the machine does tumble, but indeed, some machines don't tumble during the thermostop.
Oh right I now see what this means, that might be why my machine (when washing at 90C) stops tumbling when it gets to about 85C and then heats up to 90C, then after a few mins at 90C the machine switches the heater off and tumbling continues. Cool feature the thermostop.
I do prefer the AEG's shorter thumbles though as mine does not tumble at all.
of what year is this machine?

Is a thermostop when the machine does not tumble and only heats?

Hmm.. Well, the 'pause' might also be caused by the time it took to heat the water. If it takes too long, some machines also stop tumbling.

Ah right I see. it's better if it stops tumbling for the heating phase :)
Thanks again for your fast reply :D
