If you aim the subs back towards the trunk, the sound bounces off the trunk towards the front of the car, making it slightly, albeit not always noticeably, louder. I metered this setup using a 45hz tone with the subs pointing up, then with the subs pointing towards the trunk. I metered .6 db higher when they were facing backwards. Hardly noticeable, but my numbers went up.

Take a car for instance if you face a box toward the trunk it's loading off The trunk, if you fire it towards the cabin, that changes what it loads off of lol. Dammit

I love that song for metal bass. I had the exact same setup as you had 2 12" JBL power series in a ported box. They are good but i have to say i just got a Image Dynamics IDQ v.3 and it is the best sounding metal sub i have ever heard...It is straight up a SQ sub...you should check them out
