  • Economics was not always about the family. It used to be that an entire family could be raised on a single income. Due to the erosion of middle class wages, it now takes two incomes. If the wage erosion was not taking place, a single parent could still raise children in relative comfort. The only reason why it takes a married couple to "make it" these days is because of the massive wealth/income disparity in this country.

  • Santorum is right. He made a bold statement, because no one really wants to hear about that kind of stuff. Not really sure what the government can do about that, though.

  • Did he say that we have a president that doesn't know how to create wealth? I thought that according to right wingers, the government doesn't create jobs, the private sector does. They should at least try to be self-consistent.

  • did you record this with a toaster?

  • I LIKE HOT MOMS.

  • The real problem is, there are far too many poor uneducated people popping out babies.

They are also being pressurised by religious groups from having an abortion. So you end up with unwanted babies born into uneducate unstable families. Its no wonder the country is in a mess.

We need to encourage birth control. By lowering the population we will create a more happier society

  • @Nuron666

You're wrong to say dat educated parents make good successful children, there r so many uneducated parents whose children make it to university, but stable family with children under drugs rehab or drop out frm school.

Financial stability does not create happier society, responsible parents is enough to make a different.

  • @srkb001 yes I accept that there are uneducated parents whose kids make it to universities and make a success of their lives. But the problem is, there is a greater percentage of uneducated types who dont make a success of their lives, and these people end up filling up the prison systems. They create ghetto areas where crime, gangs, prostitution, murder, rapes, racial and religious conflicts takes root within that community. These communities become overcrowded and out of control

  • @srkb001 overcrowding is bad news for society. Like I said earlier it brings about all sorts of social conflict.

Look at countries that have a big population like India, and many these Muslim countries. What you have is high unemployment, crime and a bad quailty of life.

So a lot of people from these countries start migrating to western countries like the UK, USA and Europe. Then eventually western countries are going to be overpopulated which then will lead to inter ethnic conflict.

  • @Nuron666

My point is dat educated people harms our society too, they cheat, lie, and rob under table. If we want a world with less crimes, we need to get rid of them too..

We don't hv to look so far and take drastic actions which will be against our nature. Soon we will face problem of decreasing in manpower.

If the educated influential people do the right thing and give good examples, we can surely see the change in our society. Just my opinion.

  • @srkb001 yes educated wealthy people are also capable of crime. But the reality is, the majority of crime, murders etc.. take place in the overpopulated poor areas. You cannot ignore the basic facts of life.

Rich areas have lower crime rate, they also tend to have a small population size, people have fewer kids. The quality of life is much higher.

As long as we carry one as we are now with our high breeding rate, we are in danger of creating a global catostrophe.

  • @srkb001 think about it, we are producing billions and billions of kids every minute of the day, and each one of them will produce tons of human waist everytime they go to the toilet. And that human waist then ends up in the local rivers, oceans and in our beautiful natural landscape. Also these children will grow up and buy cars and then go onto pollute the earths atmosphere. Human beings are like a walking time bomb. We need to stop this selfish act and start sacrifising the way we breed.

  • @srkb001 we cannot blame all the problems on rich people and politicians.

We are all to blame. We all need to look at the greater picture. The greater picture is to make sure planet earth is in good shape. We need to sacrifice ourselves in the way of limiting our birth rate in order to save nature and all the other creatures that live in it.

We need to change the whole economic system. Put a stop to global migration and concentrate on being self sufficient. Stay in your own country.

  • @srkb001 so its in our interest to control the birth rate.

By controlling the birth rate, we improve the living standard as well as saving the planet from GLOBAL WARMING.

  • @Nuron666

Without foreigners working in ur country, you wouldn't be where you are today.

We need one another and both get benefits, it always work that way..

If the educated people act like idiots, destroying the earth, killing innocents, corrupt from the poor, why do we need children to be born from them??

All the things you mentioned.. 'gangs, prostitution, murder, rapes, racial and religious conflicts' happen to the well educated people too, no exception at all

  • @srkb001 foreign workers are fine as long as you dont give them a citizenship passport.

The problem with western countries has been the equal rights way of thinking. This has allowed many immigrants to settle in the west and as a result of this, these immigrants have bought in families and their children into the country. And now they have become a burden on the society. Large families, unemployment have become a drain on the welfare system.

  • @Nuron666

Foreign workers r not robots, you can't use em n then forget abt eir needs, ey're human who need family to be close with too.

We do have a lot of resources today, but we are lack of compassion and we tend to give excuses.. 'Govt cannot help' or start blaming others..

  • @Nuron666

The only way to make a happy society is to educate people, funds should be spent more on educating the poor, not on cigarettes, entertainments or casinos.

We will never know a successful person comes from which background..

we shouldn't be worry abt birth rates in poor countries if we can contribute ideas and channel them to make a better future, unfortunately, most of educated wealthy people are unwilling... we always want an easy way out.. 'Destroy Humanity'.

  • @srkb001 education is fine as long as you have a small manageable society.

But as soon as the population becomes too big and unmanageable, education becomes useless. It becomes survival of the fittest. If your strong you will survive, but if your weak then you end up in the slums facing a life of hardship.

Governments cannot help you when the population becomes too big. Look around the world, countries that have a big population are struggling to cope. Population size is a major problem

  • That was one frothy response, for sure! The GOP war on women continues!

  • Conservatives contradict themselves all the time and they don't seem to even be cognizant of the fact that they are doing this. The center piece of conservative ideology is the notion that government should be limited. So why are Rick Santorum, and other conservative politicians, talking about "governmental" policies that are conducive to family stability? If you want government to be limited, then they shouldn't be involved with families. This is not something government can fix.

  • @alphacause you don't have to be activist in order to support the family at the federal level. Simply dismantling the welfare state would go a long way. Dismantling the Roe v. Wade activist decision, and handing that decision back to the states as Constitutionally intended, would also help.

  • Santorum is correct which is why he will not be elected because people just don't like being told how wrong they are!

  • Stay out of our bedrooms and relationships, Mr. Santorum!!!!!!!

  • So Bush didn't do anything wrong in 8 years in office, Mr. Santorum? What a disingenous jackass. Ron Paul, all the way!

  • "The family is the basis of economic growth. Without strong families, there is no strong economy"

Bill Gates was 40 when he got married and 42 when he had his first child. This is well after he built a massive company that did wonders for the economy. You may want to rethink your broad statement.

  • @sweatytoothmadman

That's inverse logic there sweatytoothmadman, "bill Gates" did not build his massive empire by himself , Just as conductors of classical orchestras don't perform musical symphonies solo, They need a band to play the instruments.

Microsoft exists because of the 99% of the general populous who work the offices & manufacturing plants at the direction of Mr Gates.
