It's a lot easier to do on a bike with front suspension, as the rebound will launch your front wheel off the ground. Harder for a bike with no suspension or with a stiff fork.
@ElectraZona It's mostly a matter of preference. I don't ride BMX, so I can't do a high BH on it. When I try, I lift the front way too much and have to bail off the bike, since I don't pull up the rear wheel in time to balance out. MTBs have a longer wheelbase and they're what I'm used to, so using my freeride HT I have no problem BH-ing over a 24" street bike.
@daleovdedead you don't need to get the front wheel up very high if you've just started, all that does is push the back wheel down. Just lift it up a little and simultaneously lean forward and push back on the pedals. Think about lifting the whole bike up at the same time rather than just the front wheel then the back wheel. You'll only be able to hop about an inch at the beginning but keep practicing.
It's really easy to lift your rear wheel off the ground, to start out go slow then bend your knees and pull your front Wheel up like you were to do a wheely, then simotaniously lean forward and push backwards on your pedals. Yu will flatten out when the gravity starts pulling down.
bunnyhoping to me is wierd i tried it on a bmx and then i went to my mtb after i got frustrated and it just came to me and i could do it then i coulncdt and now i cant
@faziwuzy138 Practice. That is the ONLY way you are going to get the motion engrained. Honestly, it's hard for me to even imagine the motion I go through to jump because it's so deep in my muscle memory that I don't ever think about it any more.
@imranbecks - I'm not a tremendous bunny hopper, but I can get the back wheel off the ground. Heres a tip that helped me: instead of thinking about "pushing" your front end down, think about "pulling" the back end up. Point your toes down, and press backwards against the petals and scoop upwards with your feet (at the same time) to lift the back end up off the ground. Hope that helps.

to do a bunny hop, pull your front wheel off the ground and while it is in the air jump on your rear wheel. once you start lifting up, just relax for the moment of airtime then brace for the drop. NO brakes required
to do a bunny hop, pull your front wheel off the ground and while it is in the air jump on your rear wheel. once you start lifting up, just relax for the moment of airtime then brace for the drop.
To get your back wheel up, the most important thing to remember is try to hook your toes around the pedals, push back, this will keep your feet on the pegs then all you got to do is lif up with you legs. you can practice stationary aswell
its easy, u just gotta pull ur bike back with ur butt, it means like pulling the bike back with your whole weight, then u gotta like jump up, the bike will follow, its a weird thing to think about but just do it, once u will get it right it will be a natural feeling, if u got the right technique down, ull be jumping everything after small practice
What sucks is i wish i could do them like this but i do my bunnyhops differently, well idk differently i just cant get my back tire AS high as these vids
I learned this in two days. Start of by going slow speed, then press the front brake and try to lift the rear wheels as high as you can. Once you can do this somehow, try doing it without the front brake. Once you got that done, combine pulling up the front, and liftimng the rear
it helps me lift the rear wheel by pointing my toes down as i jump and smearing/scooping my feet against the pedals as i tuck my legs up into my body. I practiced this technique to where i can raise the rear quickly while rolling, then combined both the lift of the front and the lift of rear into a bunny hop.
to get the rear wheel up just keep practicing with your front brake..Drive slowly then use front brake and it will help you to pull the rear wheel up.Now all you have to do is to push it harder so it will go higher..Keep practicing like that and you'll get it how it goes..One night I was bored and went on my bike and I did that..Now I can even do a bunny hop.
no! no frontbrake i mean yoú pull up the front first and after that pull up the back. allso, if you wanna go fast over something you can't use the frontbrake unless you are the master of brake bunnies...
@endrachwer well I said how to get rear wheel up for begginers. After u get it how it goes(pulling rear whell off the ground) ,u can easily pull it without brakes and jump over something
@masterfan2 i can read just fine. and i know enough about biking that you dont need a front brake to bunny hop. i learned how to bunny hop about a foot all on my own with a brakeless haro. once you get the motion, you will naturally improve where you feel the need.
point your toes to the ground after you front tire is off, and put your crotch to your handle bars,, it should even you out and hopefully get your back tire off
Use your back foot to pull up, angle your back foot facing down a little to give leverage. Look at the way the guy in the video uses his right foot to pull up.
@imranbecks that was my problem too but try, try, and try! perhaps if you pull your whole body in front while pushing up the front wheel it will work...
@imranbecks look at his feet, at 0:10 they are horizontal at 0:14 his feet compared to bike are angled. push your angled feet beck into pedals(not down, but oposite direction of your handles), and you will bind feet to pedals. then in air just crouch knees, and back wheel is in air. then it is just practice
@imranbecks i learned to bunny hop by acident when i was 10
one of these acidents also happend to me when i tryed out my friends skatebord(i suck at skating) and acidently did a kickflip somehow(never did it again
@imranbecks you need to push your feet backwards, towards the pedals and then up a little.. when you push your feet back, make sure the pedals are tilted forward.

Are you serious? I am a BMX rider and I got a BH about a wheel maaybe a lil more (BMX WHEEL)
But I tried wit hmy friends HT Bike DIdnt do more than 11" =\
I all most died! it was hard as hell! It is harder to lift the fornt wheel since you have to pull out the suspension out...
Maybe there is another technique for a MTB but For now I see as BMX as the best BIKE and the easiest Bike to do a BH on.

@masterfan2 Don't think that' the best way to learn a bunny hop,
you should learn pulling your reaar wheel up whitout touching your brakes
