  • this sounds nothing like the rem song you idiots. just because there's guitar fingerpicking and simple chords, really? you dudes are deaf

  • @moroso

Damn right. (And I'm a bigger Spacemen 3 fan then ANYONE ELSE HERE!!!)

  • Well, can you hear me?

  • tip top sound . . .

  • It's called vibrato assholes. Get the fuck over it. S3 owns

  • Making your own stuff is the main thing. But stealing combined with a different approach and own compositions is also allowed. As long as the end result is special and satisfyingly different.

Yet sadly in Dance and rap-music a lot of sounds were just flatly copied. Like the song 'Every breath you take' (original `The Police') and a very dull exercise by P.Daddy who did not succeed to do something special with it. Now that's a ripp off.

  • This song is not resembling in any way the track of REM. Only the guitar notes that are just very common gospel chords. If anyone was ripping off the work of others its the Spacemen3.

Just compare their stuff with garagebands of the 60ies. Look I dont mind I still it is great music.

Cause its still more than just copying this band does something with the found noises of the past.

  • i doubt r.e.m ripped em off. its just really simple arpeggiated guitar lines over basic chords, its just the same pattern and few similar chords. both serves good purpose in their own right

  • its not some fucking competition against whose the best, a cover is a cover dont disgrace a regeneration. Show me your remix fuckin dee

  • rem is cool man....

  • @musicisthewayout i completely agree : D

  • @turdface77 I feel that your comment may have been a bit more meaningful if your Youtube username wasn't "turdface77".

  • Beautiful. :)

  • iluminati

  • i love these guys...

  • nice one

  • Awesome, where is this song from? I mean the album!

  • @ManThatMovesAtoms it's on their album 'Playing With Fire'

  • @TheKob1977

Thanks, I found it yesterday, i just discovered this band last week, but now is one of my favourites

  • i love this song as a requiem...the atavic howl of the desperate junkie, make's me feel tender and really sad at the same time, in those moments when we see no hope but oblivion in pain...it's a pray to our mother, to our life, for resurrection.

And this awesome band catch this feeling very well...maybe 'cause they was sincere about their feeling...but really don't know...hi to all th people lovin' this band!

  • jergsjokoaklloanafully

  • Spacemen 3 put a whole generation of late 80's kids back to the early 70s. Two years after Revolution every teenager in Brighton looked like a member of The Stooges.

Do teenagers still take acid these days, it was very popular at that time.

  • @UWETHEGOAT sadly acid and shrooms popularity has fallen off greatly...for some stupid fucken reason meth is becoming huge.

  • @UWETHEGOAT i do ... :D

  • @UWETHEGOAT yes we do

  • Just Beautiful!

  • I like this much better than the Spiritualized version.

  • so good...

  • i got the same feeling when i tried heroin listening to this song its an amazing feeling but also a dark ere reminder

  • @grandmasify

Stay away from that shit man

  • @turdface77 that's very profound. I love how music can be associated with such a specific time, place, feeling. Bittersweet is a good word.

  • sounds quite a bit like some early Pink Floyd, right around the sound they had in 68

  • ...It all goes back to the blues :-)

  • @turdface77 I went though a similar situation but in the late 60's / early 70's . The bands I listened to were different but soothed my mindsoul as SM3 did for you in your youth . Universal & brilliant music that touches me so deeply now and forever . I wish I'd discovered SM3 earlier .

  • Why is their logo the illuminati symbol?

  • @Swordlight29 Was wondering the same thing.

  • It a song that keeps on playing in the backyard of my skull

and i think that is the place to look!

  • wow man!! i'm usually very much into psychedelick rock from the 60s, and i generally don't appreciate - or apparenlty am not educated on - later psychedelick rock, but this man!! it blew my gourd, this is fabulous

  • Great song, great band. This one's off my favourite album of theirs too, thanks for the upload.

  • How in the holly name of fuck could I live 31 years without it!??!?!!?

Glad to know there's still time. Thanx uploader!

  • amazing song! soul touching

  • @turdface77 I wish I could give you a beer.

  • So this is the song, which REM ripped off for their "Everybody Hurts" song !!!!! By the way the Spacemen 3 song is so much better than the REM drivel of "Everybody Hurts" !!!

  • @dee74raz it is just a d note appgeiotte(major sic) it been done since the 50s.

  • @dee74raz Just realised, never like the rem song so never really took interest in it. Spacemen 3 ... took interest...

  • @turdface77 lol thanks for sharing bro

  • A powerful song, written in the days when jason worked hard on his songwriting and the recording studio was not the the most important instrument at his disposal. He also had Sonic Boom to compete and compare with. This song could have been written for me and my own dark times. Blessed are the Spacemen 3

  • @turdface77 This song and this group have helped me get through some dark times. Keep rocking, be well.

  • The guitars are tuned sharp... is that because they were sped up, or was it because it was easier to sing in key?

  • Mighty Spacemen 3 is right..

  • I fed Will chillums at a festival, in Reading, I said I played this song and he wanted to hear it. I was too shy/wasted. Wish I'd had a go, though.

He said he felt self-conscious about all the depressed undertones of Spacemen 3. I told him not to be daft, who doesn't go through these things at some point?

This song sang itself to me through the thick of it. Thanks Spacemen 3.

  • do a search for "ode to space hassle"

    its will singing.

  • so i recently learned what droning is. would alot of the rolling stones songs like satisfaction be considered drone music?

  • @haydenjonesss yeah they were the pioneers of drone music

  • Beutifully simple. Such beautiful music.

  • who killed sgt pepper?

  • LETS GO FUCKING MENTAL!!!! see you in madchester

  • "Taking gospel back for the rest of us". There are few artists who really changed the way i feel about music and the world and this is one of them. I am honestly here today because I had songs like this, and this one in particular, to sober me up during the hard times. I am agnostic, but to me, this is a glimpse of who I think God would be.

  • @AgentOfTrueJustice

I hear you brother. Beautiful words. Me and a few friends have discussed your comment, it makes so much sense.

  • ohhhh boy, this song reminds me of all the good times i had back in highschool and middle school in a awkward way... all the things i've done, people i've met. Makes me want to go walk in the woods

  • This is beautifully hypnotic

  • This song is salvation. Thank you for uploading it.

  • beautiful...thanks for putting this up.

  • LOVE

  • those guys are geniuses.

  • This song just makes me want to close my eyes and smile. Nothing more. Nothing less.

  • Maybe the best compliment I've ever heard about Spacemen 3 was by my buddy Shaq. He's a massive black dude, 6'7" and around 325 lbs., and one day he came over and I was just jammin the 3 real loud that day. He asked me what I was playing. He said he never heard anything like it before. Then he said to me it reminded him of his dog he loved that died ten years before, and who was was this group? Needless to say, he became a big fan.

  • this is a great reply! wow! glad he appreciated

  • gr8 story. put a smile on my face....

  • @kevmob77 AMAZING.

  • @kevmob77 for reals?

  • @kevmob77 Your comment makes me happy with tears.

  • @kevmob77 I'd challenge anyone to put it better :)

  • @kevmob77 i dont get it

  • @kevmob77 i always come back to this video, read this comment, and i just love it. Thanks for sharing.

  • that's sad dude, we all sat around out our nut listening to spaceman 3.

J Spaceman can lift the spirits of the saddest of hearts with his songs.

  • Spacemen 3 still rock on 2 this day. Who would make a song as great and uncommercial as this today? Still my favorite group of all time.

  • Well put. There is only 1 spacemen 3.

  • Beautiful. Thank You.

  • Yes, brother!

  • Yes

  • Keeps me alive sometimes.
