SUV's aren't useless they are pretty nice. The crossovers and car based van/SUV's do suck. I have a nice SUV that can be thrashed back and forth at 65mph and not roll, it also has 11.1 inches of ground clearance. Although I'm sure you drive a Kia...
This is why you ALWAYS look with your eyes (not only your mirrors) before you change lanes.
Too many people just don't care. Not to mention how many people are "too cool" to signal before/during a lane change. I can understand not signaling when you're alone on the road, ok, but really... you might as well always use your signal. It's easy. Make it a habit.
@Seasue Of course not, his only options were to either chase the asshole, or stop and help the potentially severely injured victim on the side of the road. You can't just leave them there...
She did really good for getting pushed off the road she did not swerve back as I thought she would the lip of the road got here...It is amazing to go and watch the police in training loose control of their cars and have to regain control on the skid pad my mom had to do that amazing!!!
Wait, she didn't swerve - she got sideswiped by the car on her right who was moving out of the way of the merging car.... Not her fault at all. Sad. Glad she survived.
I normally rail against SUVs on the public roads, but this woman did nothing wrong! The muppet in the central lane practically rammed her off the road and made her lose control, not much of a 'swerve' from her point of view!!
I got side swiped by some 15 year old and her "daddy" in their business car a few years ago in this exact scenario. She took off and I chased them down and got their plates. They finally stopped like a mile down the road and gave me their info, but the dad was barking orderings and telling me how to file my claim and put the blame on the merging car (it was a 3 lane highway anyway). He also low balled me $500 for my damages out of pocket. Instead, I filed a claim against him and got $4k.
@MrHeyfuckoff Yea that is GM's Australian brand. We have a few Holdens/Vauxhauls/Opels as other brands. In example your Holden Commodore is our Pontiac G8. The Insignia is the Buick Regal here, etc etc.
This is a good video for drivers ed, extreme swerving should never be used to prevent an accident. Just hit the brakes and if a collision must happen, then it happens. It would have been a simple side swipe had they not swerved, not saying it's their fault though. The entire accident would have been prevented had the at fault driver simply checked their blind spot.
@UnblockedOne It does make sense especially for trucks because of jack-knifing.
Unfortunately, there was an instance today where a serious accident happened because of swerving. A man swerved to avoid deer on a rural state route. He hit the deer and then went into oncoming traffic, side-swiping a pickup truck and then smashing head-on into another car. He's still listed in serious condition :( The 3 people in the other car only received minor injuries luckily.

SUVs are useless, the waste gas, roll over easily, and waste space. And the ones who drive them think its safer or they can run people over... -.-

@goober239 i guess you americans are just too large physically to drive anything smaller even if you wanted to.

@otoakki I guess my physical size of 165 lbs is apparently very large; but remember: my ego is much bigger yet. : )

that car didn't have to swerve over that early, they began to panic & used bad judgement.

True, in truck-driving school/drivers ed, they teach do not swerve & always maintain lane, always maintain lane, always maintain lane!
It protects you from law suits too.
