Let's review: The Kurogane has a massive drill for the front 1/4 of the ship. The next 1/4 after that is a gigantic buzzsaw. The next 1/4 is wings, guns, and bridge. The last 1/4 is a ton of engines. Finally, it's still painted in Ratsel's colors. This thing could as well have been called the EFS This-Will-Fuck-You-Up if you wanted to be crude but honest. Just going near it was already a tactical error on Lee's part...and then he decides to ram it and finally gets his ass handed to him, for now.

According to the ending of Gaiden, the EFA is putting together a force capable of going head to head with the L5/Enist veteran group. Best guess, they want to use him and the Shirogane as a mothership for this group.

Well, since the Hagane is basically a brown Shirogane, that means both of them are pretty much indestructible even if they get ripped to shreds. As such, they are obviously preparing for a FOUR BATTLESHIP COMBINATION ATTACK in which two Tronium Cannons, a Gravity Cannon, and to top it off a massive flying drill beat the living crap out of whatever they hit.
