  • Thanks Val, this is very nicely and well played!

  • ;-) Thank you Ernst

I will look at other versions (Thomas Robinson, Anthoine Farncisque)

    V.

  • The guitar version of this song is much better , I think.

    You're good at playing!:P

  • This is the original version from the fac-simile. Guitar version is only a transcription of this one (or a transcription of another version like the one by Robinson perhaps ?, but it is also a lute version)

    Thanks anyway for the comment.

    Val ;-)

  • Cher Valeri,

I can listen to your brilliant playing all day and night. And I enjoy this type of music more and more.Spasibo,ie merci in Rusian.

  • Bonjour mon ami! Ahhh... Monsieur Vallet! Tres belle! Such a nice piece played by a nice man on a good lute... what can we more need? Merci!! I really enjoyed this!

    Salut,

    Per

  • Merci beaucoup cher ami ;-)

    Amitiés

    Valéry

  • Beautifully played, Monsieur. You must have decent recording hardware as well; the sound quality is very good. I'm curious about your right hand technique, though. Is it "normal" to have the angle of your right hand fingers parallel with the strings when playing the lute?

  • Thanks for your comment. Sound is recorded with a Zoom H2 in CD quality rate. (but compressed by Youtube)

About right hand technic, it is the technic used for the renaissance lute, from period methods, the angle change at the baroque period with more bass strings. And modern guitar technic is recent (for example, Fernando Sor in the middle of the XIX century was playing with no nails and recommend to put sometimes the little finger on the soundboard of the instrument.)

    ;-)

  • Thanks for the information. I have a Zoom H2, but I can't get as good a recording as you have. (Of course, you're a better musician.) Would you mind telling me where you place the H2 and which "mic gain" setting you use?

  • About 1 meter, high gain.

    ;-)

    Val

  • Thank you. I'll give that a try.

  • Hi Val! Thanks for all your videos and nice playing. Vallet is a very good composer.

I will soon do some videos myself of his music.

    Tommy

  • I'm waiting for your videos of Vallet. I'm also preparing some more, but an ambitious piece and I'm not ready yet (Fortune Hélas Pourquoy)

    Friendly,

    Valéry

    Liran

  • Thanks ;-)

    Val

  • That was wonderful. It really is a delight seeing you evolve from one piece to the next.

  • This one was not easy and I had worked hard to put it... But the music is so nice...

    V. ;-)

  • I love the sound of this lute ... perfectly balanced with a sweet and colourful tone. The lute, however, does nothing on its' own. It is you Val who brings the lute and the music to life!

    Beautiful!

    5*

  • Hello Micky. Thanks for your kind words. But it is easyer to play on such a good instrument, and a pleasure too...

    Val

  • Perhaps you misunderstand me ... I was paying tribute to the fact that the lute sleeps until you pick it up and play it!

    Encore ...

it was a good chance to come back and listen to it again!
