  • That's pretty sad..... How much money did they get for this?

  • Spider Man also tells me to wait 45 minutes after eating before swimming.

  • Haha the beats back then were so different compared to today's

  • meow

  • oh my gosh. you know.... I just realized, the host is the same guy who was blind on star trek isn't he?

    XD

Also, another thing I realized while watching this; if somebody spray-painted DMC on the side of my place, I'd be cool with it.

  • What a great channel! I can tell you spent some time on your video and really respect that. Hope you enjoy mine

  • whats the first video from?

  • they said all this to nas and biggie and them. they never did it so we get soulja boy and lil b and rick ross

  • 音楽番組か何かでせうか?メチヤ格好良いです!

(Posted by Youtube Stream for iPhone (yst.me) on behalf of asanoha_rec at twitter)

  • These guys were soooo cool. Rappers now a days can't even read let alone be advocates for literacy:(

  • @justlookin263 Sad but true.

  • This is so bad ass.

  • i LOVED THIS SHOW GROWING UP

  • Thanks to this song, I am now a published writer.

  • Ahhh! The beat from My Addias!

These guys were the real street legends, not those fake ass gun toting losers you see now. A real badass can be man enough to show up on childrens TV shows and uplift the poor folks they came up from, not shoot them and sell drugs to them, and promote gang life, and keep those they grew up from ever go anywhere. These guys were real. They were hardcore.

  • Reading Rainbow = Best show ever!

  • Im an artist tryna get my sound heard, id appreciate if u stopped on my channel, my music's gettin a name 4 itself n will not dissapoint . Hope u enjoy "its the kingpin"

  • im a rocker and this is the ONLY hiphop group I like

  • i have two questions: is that gangsta rap yet, or not?

and when begun the gangsta rap era? I mean, i have seen the film over Biggie smalls nad then all the guys in the were waring baggy pants in 1983, but i always thought that g-rap had its beginning in in the late not in the early 80's.

Please can someone give me really god answer to all of this?

and in the film they show a foto of kurtis blow wearing biker shorts and golden chains, there he looked like a real g.....

    i need defenetly an answer.

  • @DerAhlke9877 I wouldn't call it gangsta rap. For me I always thought gangsta rap was hardcore stuff like I am gonna beat you. My brother says Black Sheep was gangsta rap, but I think it was too nice. Good music, but not violent. For me, I think the first gangsta rapsong I heard was "Ghetto Boys-My Mind is Playing Tricks on Me" which is about 1991. I agree with you I think they started producing gangsta rap in the early 90's. Before then rap was real, honest, but not gangsta.

  • @FuLuShouXi well, actually they have had some artist whom were out around the early 80s such as Boogie Down Productions, Ice-T, to NWA , MC Eiht, Spice-1 & all them, but they were mainly kept underground until it became mainstream from '87 into the early 90s.

  • @DerAhlke9877 not sure if my reply showed, but I would say 1991 Ghetto Boys - "My Mind is Playing Tricks on Me". Maybe they were showing their lives before gangsta rap was produced. I don't think this is gangsta rap, too innocent, positive, good.

  • @DerAhlke9877 well, best thing i could tell you is it doesn't really matter what style clothes the rappers where yet it also dose. Run DMC started the whole "hip-hop" fashion look & style & made it noticed by fancy shoes, hats, rings, & chains like what you see today of many artists. Kurtis Blow on the other hand always had & kept swagger. You cant really picture him looking "plain", he had to be "flashy" you kno what i'm sayin

  • the host is so gay

  • WOOOOOOW!!!!!

  • RIP JAM MASTER J

    He was so fantastic! :-D

  • haha, now I see why hip hop is dead... It was about educating people, now it is about getting bitches and money.

  • 388-054-635 ;)

  • this is amazingggg

  • @lilideedee The one that raps second is rev run

  • which is rev run?

  • @lilideedee the next light-skinned dude with the mustash & red Kangol hat. DMC is the dude with the glasses, & Jam Master Jay is the dark-skinned thicker dude.

  • No skool like the old skool. RIP JMJ

  • i wish i was born in the 80's instead of the 90's

  • @SuperAngelo13 I wish I was born in the 70's instead of the 80's, lol :-)

  • Insane visual effects.

  • MUCH respect......

    i miss my childhood :(

  • Now this is Good Clean Rap, not that JAY Z crap.

  • I was born into the wrong decade.

  • @pmonkeys23 *lol* i be feeling the same way sometimes

  • real rap role models

  • 00:32 Thomas from Daft Punk as a kid

  • Wow, most hip hop artist's would not do something like this. Without having to talk about there street cred.

    DMC was so cool=]

  • @gunsnhalen & most of these suckers out here are fake as hell claiming to be from the streets but there not. & so they feel like they have to go & do something fuckin stupid & go to jail just so they can come out with an album claiming to be hard. *smh*

  • Run DMC é foda!

  • Positive hip-hop role models. Oh, how the times have changed. I feel sorry for the youth more than anyone.

  • NO One Believed me when I Said I saw these guys on Reading Rainbow. I'm Taking this back to my Grammar school ASAP!

    "I Told you Didn't I?! HA" :3

  • ohh and i meant a 45 RPM single not a fucking gun haha

  • I remember this !! RIP Jam Master Jay

  • everything they do was cool.they could probably rhyme about takin a dump and it would be fly

  • Awww! Now that's just too cute.

I was too old for Reading Rainbow but was watching MTV when Run DMC started putting out videos. I found it charming how they strived to be the good guys, such as giving their time to such projects.

That and I'm still fond of "Rock Box".

  • Powerfull!!

  • Geordi Laforge apparently is neglecting his duties on board the Enterprise. No matter, his promotion of reading is a good thing, and he is not blind in our universe and age.

  • "We are not thugs, we don't use drugs, but you assume on your own, they offer coke and lots of dope but we just leave it alone."

  • oh man, I remember this. This was back when music was acutally music.

  • HAPPY NATIONAL READING RAINBOW APPRECIATION DAY!

  • Rappers encouraging me to read? But dere ain't be no hos at de libary!

  • like how they drive away in a Cadillac lmao so black lol jk i actually own a deville

  • im like listenin to pac all time, the only song from dmc i recall was walk this way

this song is great and its so simple and it even gives a good example, now we have to face ridiculous satanic rappers like jay z and lil wayne BULLSHIT

run dmc was like the start of hip hop, pac was the end..

  • hip - hop!

  • gangster hahaha

  • 46 people obviously could give a rat's ass for hip hop at all! not even good rap or hip hop

  • None of what I'm saying matters, but the kids shouldn't be wearing Run D.M.C. shirts, if it's supposed to represent them as kids.

  • 2:41 B-boy stance, fucking geniusness!!!

  • i love the beats of Run DMC

  • Amongst the reasons to use mp3ify - the selection is bigger than anything else in Internet history

  • RIP Jam Master Jay.

  • This is the illest thing ever!

  • THE BEST OF THE BEST RUN D.M.C RUN D.M.C RUN D.M.C

  • I never knew Reading Rainbow could be so awesome, old school rappers actually had talent, and it wasn't about drugs, gang banging, or demeaning women, and auto tune didn't exist.

  • OLDSCHOOL IS THE BEST !!! THE NEW HIPHOP SONGS ARE BULLSHIT!!!

  • @geilo1995 you got that right

  • @geilo1995 Don't talk shit. Shure, mainstream sucks really bad, but hip hop is still living underground.

  • It's too bad Reading Rainbow doesn't show on PBS anymore. Kids these days are missing out!

  • wow, this is awesome, i wish i lived in that era, very smart men...

  • *sigh* rap used to have real issues, and the lyrics was about so much and it had a meaning. nowadays, the popular rap (mainstream rap) is all about drugs, money and sex

  • DMC has something in his hand, and then when Run starts rapping he takes it from his hand and throws it in the garbage can. And then DMC looks in the garbage can and throws his hands up like "What the hell?"

  • @borskyviolin A hotdog.....lol

  • anyone remember a show that had a typewriter that came out of a counter top.

  • @sentrand

Sesamee Street had a little cartoon skit (about a minute long) with a talking typewriter on wheels that they would somtimes show in an episode.

They also somtimes had a little skit with a talking animated man on a salt-shaker (or a glass) who somtimes came out of a counter-top or cubbard.

It was called "The Tiny Little Superguy".

    Does that help?

  • Thats real oldschool hip hop

  • hell yeah

  • nowa days they rap about killing kids

  • Joe Darryl & J write all of their own rhymes. Good observation Lavar but L.L. Cool J wrote some of their rhymes too.

  • @TheTerrorFromTexas i checked the internet and there is no mention of your statement...could you show proof from a reputable source or is this a rumor. Thanks

  • @ronmatthews Listen to the Commentary on Krush Groove. That's where I heard it at. It surprised me too.

  • @ronmatthews What I'll do is record the audio tonight and post if for ya.

  • @ronmatthews LL wrote "You You Rock It Like This?"

  • @groveboy336 forreal? i didnt know that.

  • @TheTerrorFromTexas Yes this is true however Run-DMC ghost written for the Beastie Boys as well. They were all on the same team... Rush Mgt. for Run-DMC who were with Profile Records and LL and the Beastie Boys were on Def Jam

  • lol. I watched these movies in 2nd grade at school.

  • This is awesome for two reasons:

    1. It sounds like a satire of current rap music.

    2. It was made in the 80's! Before such filthy rap existed!

  • The limo shot is in front of the huxstable house. WOW

  • I LOVE that DMZ encouraged kids, teens, and adults to have a bright future. Unlike most rap these days which teachers people to spread STDs, Love money more then people, join gangs, and be stupid >.>;
