  • I have been listening 2 this group sinces the eighties. I have all there albums. Nice.

  • Piss off you pair of boring fucking drones.

Got to be students...or serial fucking killers.

  • great new wave song!!!

  • @boyxdance New Wave movement was about 1979, 'Regret' was made in about 1994 you fucking sponk-bag.

  • @Clarky1966 new wave-rock music began in 1978, and it continued during the 1980s, 1990s

an still 2000s as neo new wave

during 1980s new wave derived in techno wave (electronic new wave), new romantic (new wave soul/funk), dark wave and cold wave

new order is new wave but is also new wave disco/dance (bizarre love triangle)

  • @Clarky1966:New Order come directly out of the "new wave", they were Joy Division before Ian Curtis committed suicide in April 1980. The electronic elements were already partly there in their work with Joy Division - Bernie Sumner -who´s got lots of humor compared to you, admitted that"Blue Monday"was a cheeky rip-off from Sylvester´s"You make me feel mighty real"...only more"primitive".Some musical structures of Joy Division were never given up inside New Order.Regret was edited in 1993.

  • played on "coast To Coast" and woke up at 4:30 AM hearing it and lef me in that great surreal dreamy state. Bring it on! Thank you!

  • GOSTO DESSA MÚSICA! Me faz recordar momentos felizes do passado.

  • love this sooooo much

  • DEAR PETER HOOK, TUNE YOUR FUCKING GUITAR

  • 5filter, very astute and perceptive take on this song! I do so agree............love me some JD and NO

  • great somehow melancholic song

  • resumindo pra mim, relacionamentos são confusos e inexplicavelmente

necessários,e o que esta canção me passa...

    adoro new order!

  • I would like a place I could call my own

Have a conversation on the telephone

Wake up every day that would be a start

I would not complain about my wounded heart

  • What happened to Jillian Gilbert? Did they fire her?

  • @ausgang No, she was leaving the band at this time to take care of of her and Steve Morris's children.

  • @ausgang gillian my cousin mate no they did nt sack her she left for family reason

  • I have a techno remix oft his which is great.

  • cool song.....

  • The song really got better when the second guitar live was added, but it will always be Hook's show. Yes the singing was never too good and the lyrics often a bit embarrassing, but this track will survive

  • LOVE THIS SONG! LOVE NEW ORDER!!!!!!!

  • The reason New Order have lasted so long was because they are very talented musicians that enjoy what they do, it's more than clear in this footage that the whole group had a ball playing this show, great stuff.

  • He never needed that great voice to achieve success...for those who consider that he need more, please compose a song, make the arrangements, go to a studio, record that shit, put it in a format, sell it and wait to see if people will follow you as millions have made with him...

  • this song is beautiful, it reminds me of my beautiful ex gf who loves new order..

  • @piedrasverdes someone's not over their ex-girlfriend.....................

  • bin sur tu as raison sur toute la ligne, new order, tears for fears, sisters, joy, etc....

  • A MIXTURE OF NEW ORDER WITH ELVIS PRELEY

  • ELVIS ORDER____________youtube

  • ELVIS ORDER NEW ORDER____________youtube

  • His terrible singing voice has actually improved slightly in the last 20 years. Another 20 years, and he might be average.

  • @tonycatman Compared to some of these indie band singers nowadays, he actually quite good. But yeah he isn't that great a singer

  • @tonycatman I take it you are about 12, stage presence and delivery mean something, but then again I doubt you have been to a gig

  • @thewantonhussy I have seen New Order live several times, in fact. His stage presencerevolved mostly around the ability to do handstands. They were,. at one point, my favourite band. In retrospect, however:

    HE CAN'T SING !

    [ I'm well up for a fight, BTW, 8) ]

  • this is such a great song among many of their revolutionary compositions... yes, it's a very "up" song...

  • todas sus canciones son buenas y esta es una de las mejores!

  • One of my faves. Amongst all of their songs that I love.

  • You have that right!

  • beautiful music that fills the mind and soul! Long live the 80's music!

  • Maybe, the song that means more to me, than any other. Maybe.

  • I like this shorter 'cut down' version. Prob' my 3rd favorite N.O. song behind Crystal and the New Order version of Ceremony. I love the JD version with Ian's vocals just as much.

  • Its to bad his vocals are really of on this one..

  • bought it the day it came out.

Love that Hook bassline, as usual.

  • when i first heard this song in 1993 i became an addict to New Order, til today

  • This melody and arrangment is amazing. Never really heard anything quite like it.

  • @MrShane82 I liked this song ever since it came out. I always thought the bass parts were a guitar and, what I'm guessing is a synth, was the bass. You'll have to hear it on a stereo with a good low end response to hear/feel the synth or whatever it is.

  • es una canción maravillosa!

  • Lembra minha adolescência, cursinho, faculdade...

  • Tempo bom, com música boa

  • Amazing song... it`s been too long since i`ve listened it

  • I cannot listen to the music recently, long live the 80s music

  • Actually Regret is from the 1993 Album Rpublic

  • One of the BEST bands ever. Great Music. Ladies And Gentlemen this is MUSIC, not the trash that they want us to buy this days. GUAAAAAA.

  • New Order, I missed your music! Great song!

  • É MUITO FINO ESSE SOLO MESMO!!

  • Esse solo de guitarra é algo fenomenal !

    Sem comentários ! É lindo demais !

    Eduardo-Minas Gerais-Brasil

  • oh yeeeaaa

  • PS, I don't think you can begin to compare Metallica to New Order. That's like comparing an ultimate fighter and a runway model. Two totally different genres.

  • This song has the most memorable intros in the history of pop music in my humble opinion.

  • one of the best bassists around. Love the leads

  • Absolutely THE great pop song of the 90s. New Order's Last great Hurrah and laurel.

Nothing that came after was to rise to this level again.

  • i loved the get ready album, but that's just me i guess....this is certainly one of the best pop tunes ever.

  • Comment removed

  • Negativos! One of the best bands around, don't forget ;-)!

  • Hookie is awesome in the bass and Bernard dance like a freak, awful.

    My favourite New Order´s songs

  • Wow, I love this version. My favorite New Order single by far. Wish they were always this guitar oriented.

  • Esta música me lembro bem dela, em 1993, tinha apenas 14 anos, esta guitarra e os vocais, são perfeitos, isto tem um efeito maior quando se é um adolescente, dos anos 90...

  • I love New Order's songs (especially "Age of Consent" and "Bizarre Love Triangle") but they sure needed a more distinctive vocalist. This guy's voice is weak as water.

  • What legends!

Although, I disagree with the comment about this being the last fine song New Order ever wrote. I thought Get Ready was a pretty good album and it's from this century...

  • Regret was on their Republic album which was released in 1992. They were just playing this on Jools Holland while promoting the Get Ready album.

  • lembro muiiiitooo de minha juventude rsrrsr

  • I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT

  • In many ways I consider this song to be the last fine one New Order ever wrote. After this the string ran out for good.

But man, what a run. Joy Division/New Order was the best band of the last 30 years. Bar none. If you disagree, name a better one. You can't.

  • metallica.

  • METALLICA???!!!?

Please, let's all be serious here...

  • I´ll give you a better band: S Club 7. whoosh cacheeem!!!

  • Best laugh I've had in months. Thanks. S Club 7??!! My god.

  • No man, I´m dead serious!!! Aqua (of Barbie Girl fame) and Eiffel 65 (remember Blue dabadedabada?) round up the top 3. Such classics, why can´t music be like that anymore???

  • Simplismente os melhores!!!

  • parara pa pa

  • Love the bass lead for this song!!!

  • this song makes me very very happy. i dont know why

  • @nashistic BANDA MARAVILHOSA

  • @nashistic

    me too, brother

  • @nashistic

Possibly because it's a powerfully honest, sad song. And when you can't be any sadder than you already are - the only way is up. It presents the possibility, the option of being better, happier. The realisation that you are hurting makes it possible to heal.

    My 2 cents (:

  • @5filter Its talking about hope and faith even if they do not recognize it.

  • @nashistic Me to man!!

  • new orders finest moment no doubt

  • and i thought that the Smiths was they only great band in the 80's. guess i was a bit wrong. JD, the Smiths and New Order, u rock 20, 30 years after.

  • they're old and still kickin ass..briliant

  • new order rock went to c them at t in the park 06 and they stole the show great band better live xxx

  • love them

  • New Order , Depeche, Pet Shop, Information, The Cure, Tears for Fears. Amazing bands !!!

  • @pccip07

Please do not forget The Smiths! Short lived, yes, but this band will forever hold an influential spot in musical history.

  • @joliveoo You are right!! The Smiths!

  • @pccip07 Don't forget The Smiths!

  • @pccip07 HOW BOUT MEGADEATH

  • hooky plays the wrong note at 3.18 hahaha great song

  • a1mint, that's right - nothing else to say....

  • It's so nice on an afternoon, to put on one of their CD's and just let it play for an hour or so. You'll see that everyone nearby will just nicely and calmly listening. They create this nice flowy suave, yet upbeat, psychy...

They're not overly manic, or depressing, just nicely running along. If you were going or a long jog, you could play this music.

It's hard to explain, music is different things to different people.

I love it, in my own way.

  • lovely lovely lovely song.

  • New Order - Regret + Wild Swans - Bringing home the ashes ; one of my all time fave new wave songs... i love it!..

  • amazing song,,,,, i love it¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

    new order is the low

  • Cool song, cool haircut and a cool guy. One of my all time favorite New Order song.

  • Du grand roque !!!

  • WOOO NEW ORDER IS THE BEST

  • One of my favourite New Order tracks. They have come a long way since their gloomy Joy Division-like debut Movement. Sirens was one of their best albums. Too bad they split up!

  • the split up!? :( that sucks they would have more songs if the were togther

  • At 3:17-3:18, Hook goes out of tune or hits the wrong note.

  • haha yes, that's kind of funny.

  • Better hit some wrong notes than do a Ashlee Simpson performance.

  • nice lol :D:D

  • xD :p

  • That's the groovy thing about live music....

  • No wonder the way he plays the thing! Still sublime, though.

  • Are these guys gonna make another album?

  • They've split up...

  • Peter Hook left the band. Bernard and Stephen claim they are still carrying on as New Order.

  • best band in the world

  • Republic's their finest hour - Peter Hook is a master.

  • Yes I agree. He is a master-baiter. Arf,arf,arf arrrrf.

  • haha

  • stop arguing people,

    this is a fuckin tune.

  • fantastic stuff !!!!!!!

  • I enjoy the band, the music, whatever.. I don't care about musics, synths or my mother fucker playing the guitar.

I enjoy the music.... and new order was one of the first electro - techno prerformers remember?? using synths

  • What a band!! Hooky on bass best band i have seen live!!

  • Wonder how they pulled off the synth parts live?

  • this may be a stretch: A FUCKING SYNTHESIZER

  • LOL if you will notice, Cunningham was not playing the synth-he's on the guitar. Must be either connected to a guitar synth such as a Roland, or midi'd up someway to his keys. Interesting.

  • Most likely they have a sessions musician off stage someplace backing them up.

  • My memory is lost in past!!!

    Love to new order 4ever

  • Yes, you are correct. Well done.

  • One of the best Brit bands eva!!

  • Hooky! Please come back to the band!!!

  • Simply awesome!

  • Peter Hook plays bass as.........just he does!

  • A W E S O M E

  • I love that bass guitar sound they got for this song. So good for that melody

  • like your song.

  • Is that Marr on the 2nd guitar? Looks like him. Hard to tell.

  • Its Phil Cunningham on 2nd guitar. lol.

  • is marr playing the 2nd guitar?

  • Why is it the scratchy guitar and somber base lines make we want to fucking cry when I hear certain Now Order songs? (sic Temptation)

  • Probably one of the most brillant groups to have ever recorded.......their music is the soundstrack to my life.

  • i cry every time too

  • I've cried many times to this song. It makes me think about moving out on my own for the first time, and starting to live life.

When I was younger, I thought they were saying "have a coma session on the telephone", which actually might be an interesting vocal in an alternate universe.

  • if you type in keywords "trike gong show..."

you'll see a synth pop/irish tap dancing version of "my generation" ... like new order meets the who meets michael flatley.

  • THE BASS PLAYER IS MY FAVOURITE

  • they are still good, like depeche mode.

  • Depeche What ???

  • Absolute gold.

  • GREAT song! GREAT band! Why did I just state the obvious???

  • una muy chingona cancion.

  • new order is definitely the best band since joy division. er.. uh.. hohoho

  • just wait till tomorrow i guess thats what they aal say just before tey fall apart brilliant

  • this was last of the great pop chart hits, music rapidly went downhill after this if you ask me

  • To the person commenting on Bernard's haircut:

I have have the same haircut since I first saw his picture in 1981. Some haircuts stand the test of time.

  • I wish just Ian Curtis would had the chance to be with them...

  • Curtis would never have been a part of this type of sound, sad thing is they are better off without him.

  • Well. I havent heard so much of new order.. but I think curtis singing really would have fitted this sound. And I think this is where Joy Division was heading, really.

  • I really don't think he would have wanted to be a part of this sound. It's too much fun.

  • Joy Division was heading to the early New Order sound. I don't know if they would have gone this far with Ian though. I also don't think that Curtis' vocal goes well with this melodic sound, Bernard Sumner's vocal is so much more fitting.

  • Is there a vid for 1963? I'd love to see that...

  • fuck the term "pop" this is fucking rock and roll bitches! barney's a bad singer but a beautiful singer at the same time. new order lives in us.

  • Barney nicked my chord changes for this tune - and he knows it.

But its okay, as Ian knows, money long-term means nothing...

    :)

  • Wonderful song - best pop song of the 1990s.

  • I agree with you 100%.. Every time I hear this song it shoots me straight back to 1995 in the middle of the summer.. A total memory song.

  • this was released in 1993, had you discovered it in 95?

  • It may have been rereleased in 93; because New Order is an 80's band which was a tribute to former band member Ian Curtis (suicide 1980) & band Joy Division which was a mid/late 70's band, that had created the 80's synth sound.

  • HOLY CRAP... To see some of the JD/NO guys just playing and having what might even be called fun... Wow, that is so good to see. I was a Joy Div fan before anybody in my town knew who the hell they were and Ian's suicide always seemed to haunt the band.

Being that I'm American, I've not seen them in anyting like live in a very long time. Whenever this was, it was good to see.

  • wow Bernard, same haircut 20 years plus!

  • Bernard's haircut is a perfectly normal haircut. Ian McCulloch of Echo & the Bunnymen and Robert Smith of The Cure have the same haircut they had 20 years ago too and they now look pathetic for middle-aged men. New Order was never about fashion trend, they were about music and art.

  • Please, no hair discussions, fellows. Not here.

  • memoravel som, coisa de primeira, valeu ...

  • Besides the beatiful comments below, I always enjoyed New Order music, and this song, is just beatiful, one of my top "favoritas" New Order will live forever!!

  • special song!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this band so much!

  • New Order are an amazing band and they will never die, anyone who disagrees was clearly born out of a sheep's arse hole!
