If i recall correctly, Brooks DOES appear briefly in Young Frankenstein as the father of the little girl.
To Be or Not To Be is a very good remake of a very good film, with Brooks a good choice in the lead. He would later steal the famous "heil myself" for the stage version of Producers. I think it's a movie that deserves more discussion.
@TrekBeatTK >> No, that's not him. The only performance that Brooks did for Young Frankenstein is the "Cat Scream" when Frankenstein and the Inspector are playing darts.
hey guys, love your show. why not do an episode on the films of japanese auteur Takeshi Kitano? i dunno if you are familiar with his work, but he is fantastic, my favourite filmmaker aside from Sam Peckinpah :)
The only thing I hated about the musical version is they changed the plot and used the director instead of LSD. I understand it's outdated, but I just loved that character.
the sad thing, the retards who make the "MOVIE" movies (scary movie, teen movie, date movie et al) cite Mel Brooks as one of their biggest influences. fucking retards
The basic idea behind the Producers (making a flop broadway play to make money and it becomes a hit). Was going to be a Marxs Brothers film. but when Duck Soup lost money at the box office and the Marxs Brothers lost thier contract they droped the idea.
What exactly is wrong with "Airplane!" or "The Naked Gun" (the first two at least) which I find to be some of the funniest films ever made? Even the third Naked Gun movie while not being as good had it moments. These films are far better than "Space Balls," which to me suffers from being made too late and just not being very funny.
Nuthin's wrong with AIRPLANE or NAKED GUN (in fact, Airplane is one of my favorite comedies and the Naked Gun tv series was absolute genius in my humble opinion). I was just making a comment on Brooks films seem to lose what seemed to be a very unique voice over time.
What!!! No way. I firmly disagree with you that History of the World, Spaceballs and Dracula; Dead and Loving It, were weak films and less funny. I can see what you mean when you point out that there is obviously less of his (Brook's) style incorporated into them, but they certainly do not lose any momentum in terms of comedy. I might be bias because I love Zucker films, but I gotta' tell you those three films are definitely my favorite of the Mel Brook's filmography.
I always loved Korman. Even in Americathon

@van8ryan Ah, you're right. Hadn't watched it in awhile. But isn't it funny how that guy ends up looking an awful lot like an older Brooks?

@TrekBeatTK >> True, but in real life, fake mustache not included.

Edgar Wright to me is the new the Mel Brooks. The only man who can make a really funny parody today.

Do a show about old sci-fi classics, like SILENT RUNNING, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL and THE TIME MACHINE.

"Blücher" as in "Frau Blücher" actually means glue...making the gag even more brilliant. Anyways, love the show, keep it up.

I stand corrected.

"Blücher" totally doesn't mean glue. That's an urban legend for the ages, and you've fallen for it!
