  • Whether you like it or not Lea, the essence of governance is each of Us has surrendered our power to our rulers to protect Us. The power held by our leaders has the backing of the coercive threat of the State which has the monopoly of legal violence. It is your obligation and responsibility as an artist and better educated and enlightened better of Philippine society and citizen of the world to reign on these power wielders and prevent their abuse of power.

  • You know the purpose of God to the earth is to become a paradise, that's why Eden and Eve put God in Paradise to live (Genesis 2:8,9) But when they disobey God , they lost Paradise ( Genesis 3:23 ) The time will come they return the original purpose of God the earth will become a paradise (Psalms 37:29)

  • favorite song po !!

  • the ideology of the composer is so great that it surpassed the comprehension of most people but if only people would interpret it simply, they would find love, peace, passion, and the urge to uplift the poor...I HOPE ALL MEN WOULD HELP EACH OTHER FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE WORLD..."ONE WORLD, IT IS ALL WE HAVE" and we must TREASURE IT...

  • If only all men would realize the meaning of this song, they would surely know how to love each other....I hope that the leaders of WORLD could listen to this song and realize their real DUTY as a LEADERS...also I hope that all people belonging to the upper class would take even just a glimpse on the situation of the poor...and by then they would realize how lucky they are and eventually make a move to help the "UNDER" and make them even just a bit "HIGHER" than they used to be,,,,

  • I just knew Lea Salonga make a rendition of this song! This is one of my favorite song from the Phillipines, sung by one of my favorite singers. Sadly, years after this song's first released by Smokey Mountain, there's still many places like Paraiso in Indonesia...

  • her voice suits the message really well. it was heart-warming and at the same time encouraging, :)

  • Poverty or Recycling? Germany needed 10 years, the US pobably 20 Years what Filipino People knew already long time a go, Recources and Money could save our World! You don't need Money, you get Recources for free? You know Filipino Pride?!? There are 92 Million Pinoys against a few Politicians who run the whole Country down.Everybody isn't against them - support them, and the Devil - it is your World - your Paradise - or your Hell! Pinoys abuse our Lord - and him Soil!

  • BRAVO LEA!!!

  • could you please upload a minus one of paraiso I need it for my daughters presentation on earth day please

  • i love it!!!

  • One of my favorite songs... Thanks for posting chapsbryan....

  • "We as a country can overcome whatever is ailing us... the power does not lie in the hands of those seated in the halls of government, but in the hands of the constituency... once we realize this, only then can we start to build from the ground up." -- Lea Salonga

  • at one CD when "I live in this land called Paraiso"comes up at the CD its a Boy singing until there and until the END!

  • What a beautiful rendition by Lea!

While the video presentation is ok, I'm still bothered with the American flag at the end of the clip. This song was a Filipino original.

  • dont generalize the muslims.. a little part of them have done bad to you and you blame all of them. dont be the bad guy. aryt?

  • wooh! slow down there haha.. almost all of the comments here are blaming the government for these problems haha..i must admit I too am not a law abiding citizen, yes i break some of the rules and guess what is it the fault of the government that i break these rules? NO! its my fault so quit blaming others yes some of our officials are corrupt but there are still people in the government trying their best to change our country but we just need to change ourselves first thats all folks! haha

  • in my own opinion of this, we should start the to doing it by ourselves first, be a good example to others. and to point this out its not that im against filipinos but we are also responsible on what is happening in our country now, especially those persons on the government whom are not doing there job, but the once who are also destroying mother nature.

  • Again, I am hoping to dream that Philippines is the real Paraiso for a Filipino like me and you. Last week I received my 13th month pay as a call center agent. I was so happy. I gave myself a gift. A cellphone, unfortunately, when I went to Divisoria, Tutuban Mall jsut to buy something for gifts to give and for my self needs too. When I went home, on an FX, 2 armed men "hold up" us. If and only if, the government gave education to Filipinos and jobs to jobless... NO like that will happen..

  • Philippine realities nowadays and even before the song was created is the exact portrayal of supposed to be paraiso. I could say, the pictures that is shown in the song is also the same picture that is happening and even worst. Who's to blame,of course, the government since the government allows it to happen, if and only if, the government is serious to cater the needs of every Filipinos and give appropriate actions to the very need I am pretty sure everything follows. RIGHT? Think of it...

  • sorry, but i have to disagree with you a little bit. just because something bad is happening to our country doesn't mean it's the government's fault. it's also the people living in that country. the government can't improve the country by themselves, they also need the people's help... i'm not siding with the government...just saying my point of view...

  • I think in my personal opinion, Philippines needs a revolution get rid of the bad people in the government and start a brand new start. I am filipino and I am proud but the government in that country is top 3 all over the universe. How sad, also there is no working class, upper middle class, either your super rich or dirt poor...I felt it's really hopeless country..Really!!!

  • sino ba ang makikinabang

    ng kagandahan ng pilipinas?

    dba tau din aman ?!

    sana naman pangalagaan natin ito

dahil bigai ito saten ng Diyos

sana ay mapangalagaan naten ang bigay saten....

  • The earth is supposed to be our paradise... But look what we did to our paradise!!! Very sad indeed!

  • Hey kid! go and finish your homework. You have a Loooongg time to spend in school. you can't fill your backpacks with books and all your shinanigans. Books are meant for the brain, experience is meant to be thought outside your box. explore the world! watch discovery channel or documentaries. damn!!! i can shout inside your brain and i hear Too much echoes and wonderful reverbs!!! go figure.... I address this to no one by the way. if You've been hit by this message. then it's for you. :-)

  • do not focus on pictures, just listen to the lyrics of the song u will understand what PARAISO must mean..

  • this is not a paraiso bcoz... the picture and video did not reflect as a paraiso... sorry that my opinion....for you video...

  • well i think you failed to dig deeper about the song's real meaning ;-)

  • i learned in school when we discussed about paradise..... paradise is where your home, your family is your home so whenever your with your family your in paradise=)

  • :-) maybe if u listen to the lyrics carefully. You'll understand.

Listen with your heart. same as what the tree told to Pocahontas.

    you will understand. :-)

  • It's so sad that people worry about brand names when other people would love just clothes and shoes. Also people take food and shelter forgranted but when u see this it breaks my heart.I'm half filipino and I wish I had money to help everyone not only the Pillipines but others in need.

ANywayz, yeah, stop complaining and start acting....

  • yey!

sana kung lahat ng tao ay disiplinado

    lahat ng mga pilipino

    nagkakaisa

    oO nga naman

---> stop complaining and start acting..

  • tama... well said.

  • yes, we must ark( action random kindness) to our nature.

  • i just love this song! this just sums up all the sufferings that some people are going through to survive. Reminds you that you're lucky, you're not one of them.

  • i just want to say that if we did not move as early as we can, its too late for us to take care of mother nature. the beauty of our earth when it was created by God was very wonderful, but now there wre jst only few places tht is wonderful but only "few". as a student or as a daughter of God i just want to say thank u to all the supporters of nature and i hope that we, all of us know how to take care of mother nature

  • LORD JESUS CHRIST said "man does not it on "bread" alone".So, who are the actual poor people in life1) The physically hungry (bread, water, etc)? or2) The spiritually hungry (not having LORD JESUS CHRIST in their life; that person who has the feeling of guilt! That person who cannot forgive! That person who has all the material position, but are not happy with their life! etc., That person who cannot sleep at night! etc "What benefit a man, when he gains the whole world and loses his own soul...

  • , max maigi paden kung yang mga sinaxaveh noih ay gagawin niuh tlaga!.. be an environmental friendly!,, action speaks louder than words!.. paggamit nioh lng ng mga plastics e mlaking sira na sa kalikasan!.. oh!.. dvah!.. hnd lng philippines kawawa dito.. ang buong mundo!.. global warming na kxeh!.. haizt!,, makiisa nmn kau!,, hmmm.. help our mother earth!,, kung aywa niong mag gas mask sa next generation!,, hmmmmmm.. plx lng!, cooperate ang kailangan!.. unity and brotherhood!..

  • this song made my heart cry..coz i've realised how lucky i am from others, with loving country philippines..im very satisfied with what i have now..

    Go philippines!..

    beat proverty and

    share love!

    peace!

  • very nice video....

  • touching` :">

  • Most people i believe think that this song is mainly about the environment. But if one listens to the lyrics carefully, it actually focuses on the political situation we are facing more than anything else - greed in the face of hunger (or perhaps greed resulting in hunger), curtailment of natural freedom, the consequences of narrowmindedness harboring selfishness, and how these systemic flaws affect the long term perspective of the general citizenry.

    Splendid performance.

    Good day everyone!

  • For as far as I am concerned the equation goes like this aping western materialistic values breeds greed, greed breeds envy, envy breeds convetousness irrespective of even the dire consequences to the weakest link in society's chain and dire consequences bring forth such places as "paraiso" . I think the whole thing is just a crying shame.

  • Paraiso (smokey mountain) like a lot of other things in the Philippines is a consequence of the Filipinos inability to shake off their "colonial mentality" -these almost desperate desire to ape anything and everything american. I am Pinoy and proud of my heritage but everytime I go home to the Phils. and see how a lot of pinoys try very hard to ape western (materialistic) and cultural values which are not innately anchored to our pre-colonial culture it saddens and angers me.

  • hey try to watch GAWAD KALINGA videos.. please do watch! PLAESE

  • tnx cause i enjoy the song

  • The beauty of the song lies in the irony of the title with the lyrics of Mr. C. Not to mention the haunting melody...

  • ganda nito...

    pati ung background

    nakakagising ng damdamin

  • wow!!!!!!

    Lea Salonga, ur d best!!

    haizt!

  • the background is very much related to the song. Paraiso, if im not mistaken, was composed by cayabyab to describe a child who lives in a place called smokey mountain, literally a mountain of garbage pile in tondo, manila way back in the 80s.

  • nice song,,,,,i think the background is somehow related...coz we are talking about our paraiso that experiencing a very dangerous "kalagayan"..wahahaha

  • superb rendition of paraiso!

  • bkit gnun ung background? wlang relation?

  • aren't you listening to the lyrics?

  • huh?! that's what the song is all about, it is very RELATED.

  • lets plant more trees... stop co2 emission and other toxic chemicals, conserve energy and recycle do it now before its too late

  • do u know where i could find the sheet music for song?

  • kakantahin namin to para sa nat'l yes camp.. ahaaiii...

  • Lea, you are one and only. Loved it.

  • plant a tree today

  • wow!!!! love it!!!! one of my most favorite songs! thanksss!! :)

  • Ang Ganda! ( It's so nice)

  • wow i ♥ it

  • There are some instances that we cannot control; no matter how we try are best still things will not fall on their expected places. The question here I guess until what you can give to yourself to achieve your aspirations.

  • kaya natin ot go pinoy....

  • mali ka.. MERONG alam ang mga squatters... hindi mo alam kung pano sila nagiisip kung saan sila kukuha ng pagkain which is pinagiisipan nilang mabuti...ehh ikaw..aminin mo..sa murang edad mo noon..asa ka parin sa magulang mo..samantalang sila..they struggle for living even they are still young..sino sa tingin mo ang walang alam..watch your words..i came from what you so called squatters..but im proud of it because i know how to live in my everyday life even without glamour things..!

  • nice answer! sabi pa... dont under estimate a person!

  • @lexiscute12 hmmp!! taAAAAaaaamAAaA!!

  • The biggest crime here is this. Something should be done to the parents. These children did no ask to be brought to this world in dire poverty. Yet their parents knew of this and despite of this they decided to reproduce IRRESPONSIBLY. Worst, they keep doing it every 9 months. What kind of people are these? Monsters! nothing less really

  • gahd. get a life! stop judging people you dont even know. you're worse than them. cant you understand? its the result of being uneducated of the cons of reproduction. you're seriously getting on my nerves!

  • When will these women stop having children after children? doesn't she know this is how she keeps getting poor? dividing the wealth many folds to her children is making it worst for her. The father and the mother is to blame for their poverty situation, not the government. Its so simple. STOP FUCKING HAVING BABIES. YOU ARE POOR AND WILL GET MORE POOR IF YOU KEEP HAVING MORE BABIES YOU CAN ILL AFFORD.

  • Lea's voice is so soothing and evocative! She was fab in "Miss Saigon"!!

  • Love Lea!

Check out the new Miss Teasa music video "Sidecar" shot in the Philippines

    aihihihi!!!

    baklita

  • how i wish i can do something for all the people like this. the video and the song is beautiful. i am not a Filipino but i will show it to my son to let him learn about life when he grows up. God Bless this peole. i can't help but cry when i see this. from Houston, Texas

  • good idea! i think a lot of parent's should start teaching their kids about reality of life. with that, at least they would realize what they have and that they are far luckier and quit fretting about silly things. I hope they'd learn about compassion and humility.

  • tulong?... don't wait for help... we can help ourselves... we just need to stand...! we are not hopeless...

  • i rily loved this song.....!!!

  • kwawa namn ung mga bata noh.. it's good na may mga tao pa na nkakarealize sa needs ng country natin.. sana nga lang dumating ung tym na magkaroon tau ng means para mkatulong... at least ung concrete dba.. on my part, i'll begin by finishing my studies muna.. everytime na npapanood ko video na to parang kinukurot ung puso ko.. mdami din kasi sa atin ung para bang bulag tapos may iba din na nagbubulag-bulagan.

  • hay..

pati ba naman dito sa simpleng bagay.. nagkaka-away2 ang mga tao..

well, to the person who did not appreciate this song..just mind your own property alright??

instead of making some fight that has no point...!!

makunsensya ka nalang sa sinabi mo!! and just realized your mistakes...

and watch also to your words before you say it..

  • hey guyz i had a dream dat a plane was going 2 crush in our home being stuck in a building dats going 2 explode we only had like a 1min to get out even if its just a dream it like already know da feeling of being in tragedy

by: janeena castro 11 years old

  • mas tanga ka! kesa sa anak ko,hindi mo man lang naisip na pananaw yun ng isang 8 yrs old na bata???you're such a looser para patulan ang comment ng isang bata, no wonder kaya naghihirap ang pinas dahil sa mga taong katulad mo ang mentalidad! hayyy sana lang hwag mamana ng anak o magiging anak mo ang masama mong paguugali...paano kaba pinalaki ng nanay mo?????bastos!

  • ...

  • WE CAN DO SOMETHING FOR THIS!!! guys, instead of feeling pity for awhile let us do something, i know that you already know what to do! then do it! waste segregation, proper way of throwing your trash, we knew this for years! then why can't we do it properly? let us not wait until the total deterioration of the earth!!

  • nice song

  • A little modification to the posted lyrics:

No birds "dare" (not there) fly over Paraiso

And if empty cans were all I "had," what a joy

"I'd" never fight to take someone else's coins

This song is beautiful, and Lea Salonga makes it even more so.

  • this song is so great...

makes me cry when i hear it...

  • i remember this song when i was in the 4 walls of the seminary, ths is song was prformed by the seminarians during our family day,i really apprciate wat is the content nd mssges given by the song,,,to all, we lve nd protct our mother earth

  • We should all start caring for our mother nature before its too late, the effects of global warming are now felt all around the globe, if we dont act know our child will live in a world of severe calamities, and hunger. Stop smoking, decrease gas consumption, learn to recycle, and help plant trees,

  • i really love this song.. do you know where i can download this for free?
