@profnasty Jesus dude, get over yourself. The skit is funny because it contains elements of truth. Of course it's not 100% accurate, but since it's a comedy routine, it doesn't have to be. If you're so educated, why don't you know this?
@profnasty They got these things called books and mentors that do the job for a fraction of the cost...you can actually become a lawyer in Cali and other states by "reading law" -- no law school, but you have to take the bar and apprentice for a lawyer -- like abe lincoln used to do. Refusing to pay 50K/yr for college because your parents sent your older sister first and cant afford to send you isn't counter-intellectualism, is called pragmatism.
I guess I went to the Father's Grad School because I also remember "Donde es la biblioteca?" and "Donde es el cuatro de bano?" I'm on a roll..."Como se llama?" "Me llama Victoria." lol
@KyvannShrike My mistake was thinking computer science (CS) = software engineering (SE). It does not. A CS graduate does not know how to program because they are studying complexity of algorithms, optimization of routines, and other mathematics. CS should really stand for Computational Science, as it is more a specialty of math than computers. I think many CS majors who want to be admins would prefer going to business school in Information Systems.
Geometric demonstration and discovery of a " geometric sacred boss " used very presumably in the construction of The Great Pyramid of Gizéh's plateau and his chance? Relation with the number "pi" (with a simple rule and / or compass) 2300 years B. Arquimedes (4600 years B.J.C.) for the farón Jufu-Keops.
Struggling with your university application? want to get in? Come watch my guide, I guarenteee you will have a great personal statement by the end of the video. Definitely the easiest and fastest way to write your personal statement. FREE
For example, I've finally finished applying to colleges, so the funniest part for me is the "$20 may seem expensive, but..." because that's what every college says; "$30,000 a year may seem expensive, but..."
I took 12 years of french from 3rd grade to my second year of college. Then, years later I went to France and couldn't speak a word of it. Some 4 year old child in a Paris cafe spoke it perfectly but I couldn't. On the other hand, the little kid probably couldn't speak english as well as I do.
Its funny, but at the same time its also true. people dont remember $hit because the (american) educational system (at least in my experience) is set up so that you remember stuff for the test and then regurgutate the information when the test comes. and for this reason it is also sad.
I could agree with you on perhaps spanish, especially if you dont go to a spanish speaing country, but my point is that people really never learned anything in the first place. They were taught from a young age to be able to memorize information and be able to spit it back on a test for a number on a piece of paper. This is why the American education system is so lacking.
I think the real reason it's lacking is because there isn't enough competition because there isn't school choice from K-12 levels, and also because a lot of it is over information you never use. If people REALLY needed this information, they wouldn't forget it because they'd be using it. However if you don't use it, you tend to forget it as it gets overwritten in your brain by information you DO use.
You do present a good point. There is a lot of unnecessary information that is taught. In the Italian educational system, high schools are set up like American colleges. Which sucks on the one hand if you're undecided, but it also focuses your education on a couple of subjects, instead of taking all different subjects in high school, and then taking core courses in college, you learn about what you want.
@kevinb828 I think the problem is that the education isn't specific to the individual's practical need. Inevitably you have to learn a lot of crap you're never going to use ... just filling up your bean with stuff you're bound to forget. The brain DELETES irrelevant garbage after a certain period to keep you sane.
kevinb828. As a professor iin both English Lit and Advanced Calculus I had so many students such as you who expected that we spoonfeed you. How about a little effort on your part? Question authority. Tell your profs that you want to learn to think! You need to learn analysis and synergy but that does take a certain amt of energy on your part.
@calwillnol As a current university student studying majoring in both Physics and Computer Science I have to agree with you for the most part. I find that when I ask tough questions to the prof, it is perhaps the greatest learning experience. Unfortunately there are some professors out there who can either not answer the question well or seem to dodge the question entirely. Regardless when I have a prof who answers tough questions it really motivates me to learn.

Ninety percent of college grads know america is lost.
Ten percent of high school grads know same.
Folks go to college in hope for a better future, or in desperate fear of underemployment.
You stupid american trolls should join the military.
Here's a little advice....count your legs before you leave our shores.
