  • yamaha digital pianos are best

  • I bought this digital piano too. Great price, great feel. As for the thumping key noise, I did some research and found that if you were to disable the sound of a real grand piano or acoustic piano, you will hear the same noise too...

  • @rippasama I agree m8. As another poster said, does anyone worry about the noise on their mobile, laptop keyboard etc.. if you plan to record after you've practiced.. the MIDI in/out or Line Out ain't going to pick up any key noise or you coughing, or the phone ringing or a dog barking etc etc..

Storm in a tea cup me thinks :)

  • does entry level means the proffessionals can't use it.

  • what is entry level keyboard anyway? its just a keyboard right.

  • @mroldschoolhiphop1 "Entry Level" (in my use contextually) was just to mean .. it's a 'Starting Point' or the entrance level of use for keyboard players wanting a fully weighted keyboard at the budget end of the price scale. Beginners and professionals 'could' use it. As stated by TheMega12121 below, at this price, it's value for money and certainly not that bad at all.

And yes, I can confirm it's just a keyboard. Not a guitar or xylophone etc. Keyboard. Hope that helps. M

  • who the hell cares about the sounds the keys make........its a 300 dollar keyboard people.........be glad that there's one out there that cheap and not that bad.

  • No probs, we scots stick together!!!

Although me being a weegie may not please you!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If you listen then it's there, but barely.

We should be paying attention to the talent and not the noise of the keys...

Don't hear anyone moaning bout laptop or mobile phone keys clanking

They are plastic.....what do you expect.!!

Please post another vid of your music

  • @jackbauer24ist Thanks jack, your comments are much appreciated. I've unlisted a recent practice video which I hadn't deemed fit for public consumption, but hope some of the Piano Man stuff is a start. I'll do more over the coming months, Cheers! Mike

  • I have a PX100 that had the noisy key problem. I don't remember it being loud when I got it, but after I had it for about 5 yrs, it was almost unplayable. The "thump" sounds when you released the keys were so loud they threw off my rhythm. Anyway, I took off the plate on the bottom of the keyboard to expose the underside of the keys. I could see the felt strip that is supposed to dampen the noise of the hammers. I cut up a towel and glued 2 strips of towel over the felt. Almost silent now

  • @slapshot303 Thanks for the info. Have you got any images/video of how you did this. Although time consuming, if anyone has a little more free time than hard cash, it could be useful. Cheers

  • I saw complaints about the clanking sound when I was considering buying one of these, so I went to Guitar Center to try it out, and sure enough, I found that the keyboards kick back was noticeably louder than the other models. However it wasn't worth an extra $100 for a quieter keyboard, so I bought it anyway. When I got home, what I pulled out of the box was actually MUCH quieter than the display model. So maybe it only becomes present after much use? Or maybe they fixed it in newer models?

  • @gtzpower That's a well made point. I suspect that the majority of this topic is 'about looking for perceived flaws' in this ultra cheap keyboard. Bottom line is:

Playback thru even mediocre headphones (No kickback)

Record it through Midi (No kickback)

Record it though audio out (No kickback)

Play it live in a band (kickback would be quieter than the drummers sticks or the singers ego - lol)

It's a made up problem - that you only hear if you want to find a tiny fault.

    Thanks :)

  • Just bought one of these as my first full-sized digital piano. This review was a great help in making my decision :)

  • @clausewitzianwar I appreciate your comments and for taking the time to watch my follow up review. This topic has come up so frequently, I felt it was relevant to post a second video. I genuinely think there's a misconception about any perceived noise (listen to my chair... far less the metronome!) The fact this is an entry level keyboard suggests a 'home' user on a budget (as I am). If it was a $99K+ Steinway, would we be discussing the woody kickback!? Thanks again :)
