  • no fucking dislikes, good good

  • If all progressive death-metal bands would sound like that, this genre would go mainstream. Excellent work!

  • Man this is exactly what I'm looking for!! It's been forever since I heard new metal (to me) that is quality and I just found it.

  • ...there will be contradictions.. thum thum thum, thurum thum thum, thurum thum thum thummm 2:26

  • what a goddamn masterpiece

  • @danielova9000 its all crimson its one 40 minute masterpiece

  • whats this track called?

  • I remember here in north Texas, before you could get EVERYTHING on the internet there was a metal record store. We got little gems like this there.

    They were like $50 imports!

  • best part 5:38 to 6:29

  • I have been a huge fan of Edge of Sanity / Swano and Opeth / Akerfeldt for years but have only recently heard this - "Sorskogen - Mordet I Grottan" IF YOU LOVE SWANO + AKERFELDT CHECK IT OUT RIGHT NOW! Spread the word

  • This is exactly the sort of stuff that I like. It's what inspires me.

  • Best riff at 6:30.

  • crimson is one of the best metal albums ever made!

  • Nevermore shall they dream, NEVERMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Akerfeldt's line is this correct? 5:08 - 5:38

    WAR!

Messengers of hell... they fought for what would be

    a blood-stained crown.

    Utter chaos supreme.

The sand absorbs the colour of dawn.

    Nevermore shall they dream!

    Nevermore!

i always thought the "nevermore shall they dream" part said "nevermore set me free"

  • I have been a metal head for a long time and I’m in shock about the fact that I didn’t know this band or this album.

This is one of the best stuff I hear in a long time.

That’s the great thing about metal you always find something new and awesome.

  • @marlonmbcr This band is pretty unkown. I thought they don't even exists anymore. Sad, because Crimson and Crimson II are both epic songs. Almost movie like.

  • dan swanos awesome

  • calisse que c'est bon en HQ!

  • METAL4DEATH

  • Death never dies

  • lol thats funny

    METAL4LIFE :P

  • Wow...

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    i love this

    its great.

  • Agreed, people pissing about moaning about sub genres is ridiculous.

Just like when people pull out their REAL metal arguments concerning other bands.

Quite frankly I just call it Metal, nice and simple, shouldnt have to go further than that.

  • Exactly. I always think back to the 60's/70's with that (not that I was there). If you wanted to form a band, you merely had to advertise you wanted to make rock music. Then you'd see what sound comes out of that. There really was no such thing as sub genres back then.

The media would describe it with words like "progressive rock" etc, but that's really all it was. Describing

  • Reminds me of Miltons Paradise Lost. This is truly an epic adventure of a song. Everyone i'v played this to has found it equaly as amazing. Im just so fanatical about it right now, i don't understand how anyone couldn't appreciate this as a true musical masterpiece. Absolutely mind blowing.

  • I discovered this masterpiece about 3 months ago and purchased the cd. I have been a metal fan for about 12 years and have a wide range of taste as far as metal genres go. I also have, I would say, a vast knowledge on metal and its artists, but Crimson, could in fact be the best metal song I've ever heard!! Quite possibly the most amazing metal experience I've come across, I can't explain how brilliant I think this piece of art is. IMO any true metal fan would worship this. Hail EOS!!!!!!!

  • Agreed with you completely!

  • The Sadness Sings

    With Broken Winds.

    +1

  • i know this has already been said plenty of times, but why not add one more:

    this is PURE GENIUS

  • Perfection

  • that line "with broken wings"...... just the way he sings it can put a tear in even a metalhead's eye

  • it feels great to sing, try it out! hitting that tone feels f...... great.

  • i sing it out loud all the time, i don't care where i'm at. this is exactly what music itself is about

  • still one of the best metal albums ever recorded....it´s just an ocean of creativity..all hail to swanö!!!!!

  • you know that prior to this album Dan swano only sang in Edge of Sanity right? Yes Crimson II was all him, and yes he is a genius, but i think for Edge of Sanity, the credit should be given to the other members more then Swano.

  • @ovatsug345 Actually, judging by the output of the band after Swano left, and by the work of the bands where he was afterwards, this album is totally his creation....the other guys simply played what he wrote :)

  • simply mindblowing

  • Holy shit. This is just too good.

  • the reason opeth sounds like edge of sanity is because mikael akerfeldt does some of the growls(and lead guitar) on crimson

  • Yeah and both are Sweden. And I think EoS is more technical and melodic. In my _opinion_.

  • This is probably my favorite part of Crimson.

  • WIIITH BROKENNN WIIIIIIIIIIIIINGS

  • there is, and will never be, such a "melodic" roaring voice , dan swanö has...he´s the best...for all times

  • this should have waaaay more views than it does

  • For some reason some of these people think that melodic death is an actual genre... i have never heard of the "melodic" genre... "melodic death metal" is mostly associated with bands like Children of Bodom or Wintersun anyway... not Opeth.... this is, like Opeth, just progressive death metal... nothing less than awesome

  • It is an actual genre!

But Opeth is more like progressive extreme metal.

  • that is only taking a step towards being even more vague than before.

  • What?.....no!

You can honestly say that you arent familiar with bands like In Flames, Dark tranqullity and At the Gates? And in what way they are similar!?

ts pretty obvious to me! And when I hear a melodeath band I can recognize it as such.

  • Im merely stating that melodeath is a misnomer...

  • Yeah but Ive always thought of melodic death metal an obvious subgenre.

  • LOL...

  • Edge of Sanity is not a melodic death metal band. Just because this part of Crimson starts melodic doesn't mean they are melodic. Listen other songs.

  • Absolute the best melodic death metal album ever!

  • No. Please don;t call it melodic death, like In Farts, or something. It's one of the best METAL albums in history at all! (imo)

  • ....in farts?...

Well there is a lot of melody in the album, which makes it like 30% melodic death metal. Cause, its death metal...and its melodic...know what i mean?

  • Yes but Death Metal which has a melody isn't always melodic death.

  • true, but it's easy to understand how someone could misinterpret this song as Melodic Death Metal. I agree, they aren't melodic death metal.

  • @chrismardyl Yeah

Progressive Death Metal isn't Melodic Death Metal

  • Do you people really need to be so anal about the sub genres?

Some people call it death metal, prog metal, prog death metal, melodic death metal.

it can be all these things. genres are just a way to describe music. Not categorise them. Just forget the genre and enjoy what you hear

  • @Greensmurf No. Just no.

  • No as in, no we don't have to be anal about sub-genres, or no to my point?

  • Sorry, that's not how I meant to sound. I agree with you tough =)

  • i wanna buy this album SOOOOO bad but I cant find it ANYWHERE!!! It breaks my heart. : (

  • two of the best song writers/guitarists/vocalists are in this song. this is by far, hands down, a MASTERPIECE

  • MASTERPIECE

  • i recogniced Akerfeldt's voice since the first time i heard this song. Those two gods, Dan Swano and Mikael Akerfeldt, they only make masterpieces, and they are together in this song. I can't say who is better

  • Thanks for uploading , Edge of Sanity is my favorite death metal band.

    Greetings from Greece ^

  • And mine too!

    Greetings from Ireland^

  • MINE TOO xD

    GReetings from denmark

  • I love how it paints the princess as hope for humanity throughout the story before this, then it gets to "The light of day is flowing

    into her virgin eyes.

Oh, the sun is stolen." with a mad upbeat riff and you think yay and take "the sun as stolen" as a metaphor for her innocnence. Then it kicks into the 'crimson' riff and, no, "Her soul's inhaling all the living light." she's some evil bitch.

Even though the whole album is basically ABAB lyrics, coupled with the music it's brilliant shit.

  • incredible song! full of emotions, awesome riffs and great lyrics! Dan Swanö is god!

  • this band was around before opeth. don't be a noob

  • soudning like opeth doesnt mean that they are influenced by opeth just have a similair sound dickhead

  • how sad is that

OT: Edge of Sanity is just awesome, no questioning.

  • Opeth was directly influenced by Edge of Sanity, in fact Dan Swano produced Opeth's debut album. Opeth sounds like Edge of Sanity, not the other way around.

  • They don't sounds all that alike though, the similarities are pretty subtle.

Both have unique and almost beyond original sounds.

  • @GodinSDXTguitars Agreed..Opeth focuses even more on odd stuff, but not in a technical way.Besides the vocals are really different and the guitars are totally unique. But this band totally kicks ass, just found it.

  • @RIP302 I have to disagree. The first 2 albums Swano produced are the ones who sound less like EoS and if you listen and pay attention you will note that they are totally different.

  • yeah, i agree lol. I was nieve, that was a fairly ignorant comment, I had hardly heard Opeth at the time. My mistake =)

  • @RIP302 No prob lol
