  • I find the very start of the music to be perfect for a "spiraling" transition between field and battle scene.

  • Meh, I've heard better.

  • This is so epic that could totally be a boss battle music!

  • WTF WHY DOES ALENA LOOK SO SMALL???

  • because she is

  • @famas246 She's a child that's why.

  • In my opinion, this battle theme is a bit over the top.

Its not a bad composition, but just a little bit TOO hardcore.

  • @mirrorpiece What do you mean with "hardcore"? lol

  • @ThePogeymanzepic It was changed, because they bought the rights to it. The name Dragon Quest, was original owned by a table top RPG company.

  • Please, does someone know where I can download Dragon Quest IV soundtrack??

  • @jhenriquesm Galbadia Hotel should have it. Sorry if you already have the soundtrack.

  • @Krakolio Thanks. I already have it, but thanks for the answer. =)

  • You're wrong. Dragon Warrior is the first JRPG.

  • @MegaManStarForceFan Dragon Warrior is fucking american localize name of Draque.

    like rockman and fucking megaman

  • NEs version is better.

  • I love how the intro's spiraling sound fits the battle transition to a T.

  • Although if VI DS continues the way it is,it will probably take it's place.

    It's very addicting,I'm loving it =P

  • It's funny to see that a great part of western DQ fans were just FF whores before DQVIII and IX release =P

    Well,it's better than nothing,I think.

  • @faytlengod I'm still a FF Whore... as you say it, though I mainly play Pokemon and DQ now.

  • @NeoArashi Unn,I hope you don't think I was trying to offend someone.

I mean,by myself,I'm a FF whore too,and the same with DQ.But It's just too bad that DQ was barely knew here before VIII and IX,because a lot of story already happened with the franchise by the time those 2 hit our shores, while FF,even in their better(or worse) games, were, like, hyped by everyone.

It deserves more.Hopefully the number of fans will be getting bigger and bigger from now on.

  • @faytlengod While I was introduced by the main series thanks to VIII, I now own V(DS) VI (DS) VIII, IX, DQM:J and DQH: RS If Only I could get this game again (I sold it because I wasn't enough of a fan of the series :(

  • @NeoArashi IV DS is very good too,and it's short.I think I beat it 2x in 3 weeks.Currently I own DQVI DS,DQVII for psone,VIII and IX.

I already beat V on the DS too, although it was on a flashcard(and so was IV). I'll buy then eventually, probably on July/

Now I'm playing VI DS,still playing IX,and III for snes.

You should play VII,it's very good(particulary my favorite, with VIII)and very long. It has more than 2x times the amount of jobs IX has, your characters can even become monsters =p

  • @faytlengod I Rebought IV DS yesteday. Now I have all the DQ games released in NA... exept RS, that I sold.

Wait... am I missing any? I have DQ 4,5,6 and 9, and Dragon Quest Monster Joker... when I think about it, I'm sure I'm missing one >_>

  • @NeoArashi I finally got a DQ5.It was kinda expensive,but totally worth.

I don't think I'll buy IV anymore, because the other versions, except the japaneses, had all the Talk command dialogues cut.

I didn't know about that when I played it =/

  • @NeoArashi If you are referring to only DS games then yes, you have them all. DQ 3 was released on GB color, DQ monsters and monsters 2 was released on GB, and DQ7 and 8 were released on PS1 and 2.

  • Still a classic.

  • better than FF....

  • @DashJrEX of course. the old ff games were excellent, but after ff10, one garbage after another, but dragon quest was alw<ays good, till now

  • @Queklain666 they were all garbage to me....ffv was good...and so was IV....to some extent...and i enjoyed some of the spinoffs....

  • @Queklain666 LOL What are you talking about? Are you the only person in the history of gaming not to have a 200:00+ hr. DQIX save file?!? The new Dragon Quest games are AWESOMESAUCE!!!

  • The earliest RPGs were pen and paper (Dungeons & Dragons) in the early 70's. The first videogame RPGs were games like pedit5 and Dungeon (after D&D) in 1974. Ultima, one of the best RPG series of all time, began in 1981. Western RPGs predated their Japanese counterparts by about a decade or so. The first all-Japanese RPG was Dragon Lair, released in 1982 by Fugen Denshi for the FM7. Dragon Quest was the first Famicom RPG (1986). Although Deadly Towers (Mashou) predates it, it's not a "true" RPG.

  • Does anyone know if theres a log in this game? I lost my copy and decided to just buy DQ5 (which was PURE epic) until I found it. like 5 months later I finally found DQ4 but since theres no party chat I don't know where i'm supposed to go now or where I left off....was it really that hard to keep party chat in....-_-

  • why i cant play dragon quest.. it sunddenly turn black when i play it

  • @iqbalafiq Do you play the game on emulator? If so, I suggest you play the actual game.

  • In My Ds The song is The Same of That!

    Great And Fantastic Battle Theme!!

but i did listen that song in the fabulous Animê called Day Adventures!

  • Dragon Quest is the best!!!!

  • The only problem I ever had with this theme is that it takes way too long to hit the best part of the melody. Most of my battles are over by then. :(

  • Not so for me; if your battles are all over in 40 seconds then you're probably overleveled :P

  • 0:39

i love melody line of this part

  • One of the battle themes which never gonna be boring. Sugiyama really knows how to compose catchy battle themes.

  • This song is amazing.

Never before have a battle theme in a game sound so dangerous, even for the weakest of enemies.

  • @KyohakuTenshi: The one word to describe this song: Intensity

  • ドラクエの曲ってネ申だよ

  • DQ came first then ff

  • @scapegoat999 Made by the same Company :3

  • @Oblivion23roblox

Nope. They merged companies. Enix and Square was once a seperate force.

  • @scapegoat999 True, True.

  • It sounds slightly different from what I hear on my DS.

  • It sounds exactly the same on mine O.o

  • wtf ?? de music is the same of dai no daibouken wow pretty amazing

  • This music gets me so pumped up for war lol!!!

  • love this theme both in the nes version and DS lol when my parents weren't home i'd sing along to it

  • WHAT?! I'm telling them.

  • Me too! You cant sing along without tellin your parents?!

  • I have yet to play dragonquest 4 to my knwlodge it is a cliched RPG Is that true?

  • What you have to bear in mind is that Dragon Quest INVENTED most of what we now consider Japanese RPG cliches. If you pick up the series for the first time now, it'll seem EXTREMELY cliched, but for its time it was absolutely revolutionary.

Personally, given that so many new JRPGs have some arbritary, shovelled-in mechanic or other, I find the cliche simplicity of old Dragon Quest games kind of refreshing.

  • What came first? DQ or FF? I remember playing DQ back in the day but never touched FF.

  • DQ is the first JRPG.

  • @Yorukage No it isn't...? I know this comment was made a long time ago, but I feel the need to correct you on that. There have been multiple JRPGs created before Dragon Quest.

  • @ModelOz like what?

  • @supersmash27 Nihon Falcom created the RPG series 'Dragon Slayer' in 1984, and released the second game in the series, 'Xanadu', in 1985. Dragon Warrior, the first game in the DQ series, was released in 1986.

There are probably other JRPGs that were created even earlier than that, but I don't know of them.

  • @Yorukage

The Dragon Slayer series from Falcom came out 2 years before DQ.

  • @Nintega

Isn't DS an "action" RPG? And not for console. DQ is distinguished as being the original console j-rpg.

  • @9stale uh. no. Console based RPGs are like this Turn based combat. Not the Action Style combat that FF went to after 3.

  • @MarioNavi i thought action RPG described things like Castlevania and Secret of Mana. fuck terminology and enjoy the games though, right?

  • @Yorukage Technically speaking it isnt the first JRPG but rather the first JRPG on the Famicom

  • @InsaneVisionary still, its 1 of the best JRPG's

    if not the best :p

  • @OnionKnight13 and I agree with you on that point 100%

  • dragon quest is final fantasy's uncle

  • Its like a dance made just for sword battles.

  • I love this song it's Like your getting ready for your next battle war

  • This is one of the best battle themes I've ever heard.

  • I Know your right it is
