  • Felt like I was in a pub somewhere north of Maine with a lot of beer.

  • I think you need a comma there.

  • ``Chalk on a blackboard???

  • you know theres no descent chords of this anywhere

  • thanks for keeping stan alive, im sure he would have been proud and happy to hear this

  • Overall a hideous performance. That guitar guy needs to play better and never open his mouth to sing again. The fiddle playing was decent, however.

  • beautiful man, i like it ^^

  • youve got no reason to say sorry stan. you did him justice

  • I don't like cowboy clothes!!!

  • That was awesome

  • Good job mates

  • Sing melodically to improve this

  • Excellent rendition!

  • aside from the flat singing and the punchy unimaginative delivery, this is well above mediocre.

  • @poemsinger "Unimaginative delivery"?! it's a folk song, love. Not the high point of Handel's Messiah.

  • They should not quit their day jobs, for sure: but these chaps have the kind of heart that the late Stan would have liked and raised a glass to and with.

  • Aye, Mate, Bout the time this tune was new Rememer takeing runs, on company time, Night Shift, on company busness between buildings half mile apart...Then Boeing took us over.... I kinda' wonder what would have happenend if Stan was there, still alive, as a rallying point for workers in both our countrys

  • Great performance! Love the song! Stan doesn't need any apology.

  • Scotland, Ireland, England have all given the world some great music but Italy now thats where music comes from.

  • Sorry, the US gave us metal and Canada gave us songwriters like Stan Rogers and Gordon Lightfoot - North America ftw.

  • stan's smilin right now as i am !!thanks for keepin alive!!

  • Y'know what...? This REALLY works... I think Stan himself would have liked this version!

  • Thanks fella's a good manly rendition

    of a good mans song

  • Nailed it! Perfect. Well done, lads.

  • Well done!

  • Not to mention Gilbert and Sullivan and Shakespeare... for culture

  • That was absolutely great. You guys both nailed it, but that fiddlin' was particularly first class. For what are you sorry to Stan? He'd be damn proud.

  • Thanks for the music, guys. Nice accompaniment to my peeking at the fiddle player's muscles through his T-shirt.

    Are you on MySpace?

  • no myspace, maybe soon!! are you on myspace?

i will do a fiddle solo in speedo's very soon, just for you

    Slainte.

  • No, not me. I only just joined this. I don't have anything to show off.

Man, you Canadian people are awfully agreeable. But no need to put yourself out - don't want you catching a chill on my account. A good-fittin' pair of Levi's would be just fine.

  • However, unlike the 'English'...we Scots have a CULTURE....and musically people across the world love our music!! Although we are part of the UK...we are still a country with a separate identity and an unique culture....quite different from 'England'

  • ?

I like Celtic Music... but I hardly think that the people who gave us the Beatles and the Wesley Brothers have no musical tradition. It is not throwing stones at Scotland to suggest that Ireland has great music, nor is it throwing stones at Scotland to suggest that England also has given the world great music as well.

  • Unfortunately, you're just a jealous English tit!!

  • Hearing that in the bar would make the night. Good jobs fella's

  • Well you must be awful proud :). My family has been in Cape Breton since it was settled.

  • Wanna know what you can do with your degree? I'm FROM Cape Breton. "Nova Scotia" = "New Scotland". A Mongoloid idiot could figure that out. Nova Scotia has nothing to do with France really, and all their traditions are Scottish. The french they speak is mostly Acadian french. Cape Breton was SETTLED by Scotland, it didn't just have scottish settlers.

  • actually, you are mistreating this song

    shame

    shame

    shame on you!!!

  • the singer is from cape breton, the fiddler is from newfoundland.....elaborate with your comments they are appreciated, this last comment only stan rogers could qualify to make such a strong comment to a couple guys havin fun, geez buddy light'n up!!! i'd say shame on you!!!!! go out and find a drink somewhere

  • lets hear something from you, shame boy!....your probably a spoon player....arrggh!!! i hate spoon players...arrghh!!!and if i ever see you around i'm gonna kick your ass!!!

  • Well done. Also, you are aware that you can remove offensive comments from your page, right? There are some on this one that would qualify. Thanks for posting.

  • I love this song!

  • Dude, for fuck sakes. What is with you people associating Ireland with Cape Breton. Cape Breton was settled by SCOTLAND hence the name of our province "Nova Scotia" or "New Scotland". Other than that, good version.

  • it's because the group was composed of three people...one frome cape breton, one from ireland and one from newfoundland. odd mix i know, and yes we didn't get along!

  • The song was written by Stan Rogers, who is from none of those places. He's from Ontario.

  • lol....the guys playing this tune are from the places, .....i can see how you may have misconstrued the reply i sent....my head is pretty congested with a cold going around...but hey thanks for the kind words we're just amatuers...thanks

  • Ah no hard feelings man haha, it was a good job.

  • stan rojers is awesome but u really suck

  • thanks, we do suck!.....

  • and it's "rogers"

  • ha! owned!

  • The Idiot is one of my favorite Stan Roger songs, and it's great to hear it with a touch or Irish thrown in.

  • This is great, guys. I love to hear people doing Stan's music and The Idiot is one of my favorites. Thank you.

  • OMG Fife Whivlsen on spreads! he play spreads so whell i cant even thinck, SCHIT!

  • Very Well done, my applaud to you gentlemen

  • One of my favorite Stan Rogers songs, and to hear it done with the accent makes it even better.

  • I love The Idiot - Thanks!

  • I like it. That's some fine fiddlin'. I would love to visit Cape Breton, I've heard the fiddler's are like no other. Cheers from Eire!
