In the musical, the song was performed by Ray Bolger and Eileen Herlie, and their version appears on the Broadway Cast recording. It has been sung by Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como and Tony Bennett among others.

Maybe someone could post from Alley McBiel (pygmies episode I think) where Orson Bean sings this at piano. Quite stunning. If anyone can play it like that again at piano I will also try. Professor Howdy, where do I find this version? I would place the twins head to head-so they would sleep and wait to hear this song play on my cheap radio. What a treat it would be to hear this verson live, especially since 1990, Dec.8 my boy twin age 17, was killed by a drunk driver. His sister wants to know why I wasn't there for her (brothers, too). Their Dad is now dead. Divorced (violence) I took Care of Him to die at home. I'm lost, lonely when I find me, I'll be THERE for them again.

The song is from the Straus/Adams broadway musical of 1962 called All American. Apparantly it was a huge flop but did have this great song in it. Check out the Bobby Darin version here.
