you could advertise your program via people who just want to learn modern hits, via people who can't or don't want to afford lessons etc. (because of the time saving, the low price especially for young people) which would be a clearly less aggressive marketing and since then wouldn't attract as many people but it would be honest. thats just my 2 cents

of course is learning contemporary pieces by this program a good opportunity nowadays. but in the intro it clearly conveys the idea of very strict and boring classical --> real piano lessons. besides that real teacher could also teach modern music i personally think that advertising your video by this message is wrong because piano lessons are something wonderful to afford, a really good teacher can't be exchanged by nothing and everyone who had the pleasure of good lessons knows that.

im totally fine with the program, thats awesome for people who can't afford piano lessons for example, but the way you use chopins masterpiece is simply morally reprehensible and so i have a problem with that.

Hi there. Can I ask why is it morally reprehensible? We love piano and want to make the experience of playing and learning the instrument possible for as many people as possible. We hope people do listen, play, and learn Chopin, Mozart, Vivaldi, Bach, and al the classical greats. Playground is an opportunity to learn piano by playing what is familiar. Can you feel and understand it from that perspective? Sorry if you didn't like the video edit.

@pianomarius I too have a problem with what they did there, but like I said before David, the living legend himself, wouldnt hope to dream of playing such a musically and technically rich and rewarding piece of music, popularity does not mean youre automatically the best at piano in the world, sadly many people think like this when they see a pianist on youtube with so many hits and subscribers.

unfortunately this program will fail in many areas. Students must learn classical peiceis in order to understand the fundamentals and and overall structure of the instrument. For every fun peice I play I do two classical.

Good to see him trying to teach people, but if you really like the piano and don't want to spend money, just pick it up and play it for hours, for a couple of months, and playing well will come naturally. It happened that way for me, so should it for anyone else that likes the instrument.

Playground Sessions is based on the "Play to Learn" philosophy and we know that playing is simply more fun and better suited for this day and age. Don't get me wrong though, I love this idea of playing to learn instead of learning to play, because that is essentially what I have been doing by myself over the last 5 years (not just piano, also guitar and mostly drums). I just think you should not put it on some kind of general scale and create top100 lists and things like that, if you want it to have the most positive effect for everyone. I hope you that into consideration and make the best of it.

one thing: i dont like the ranking stuff... your motivation should be the great feeling you have when youre finished learning something, not an accuracy score that compares you to everyone else and makes your success seem so small and insignificant.

apart from that, its a great concept.

@schlafanzyk Some of the scoring shown was to compare against oneself to see their own progress.. they can CHOOSE if they want to share their honor badges... for some people it helps them stay motivated, others, maybe not.

@PlaygroundPiano - Still, I think because of the way kids are wired these days, they will try everything just because they can and it could end up being discouraging and counter-productive, even though that's not the intention. It seems to me just the option could be enough, because let's face it, making it seem like a videogame competition will be appealing.

But music is about creativity, inspiration, feeling, not just technical accuracy and scores. That should be the first lesson.

@27noobi Why should it be free? They've worked so hard on this. Alot of time and effort and drive went into the making of this software and the lessons. David should be rewarded for this. I'm sick of so many people just trying to get everything free out of life - how can you expect all those teaching hours, development hours and coding to come and no price. Be realistic. If something is worth it, if someone works hard, they should be compensated for it.
