kenfo0 if its too high they don't do it, watch a few videos of the competition, you will see plenty of mules that just flat refuse to go and then are out of competition. Heck I've seen one that pushed the top half of the jump down with his nose and then jumped the bottom part because he didn't want to jump the big one lol. The mules love what they do, otherwise there is no way you would get them to do it at all.
that's super. so, tell me: what happens when it's JUST too high and the animal is seriously injured for your amusement? I know, I know, there's something wrong with ME! Got it. I'm sure you'd spend thousands and thousands on medication and medical treatment for it. Actually, pretty sure you'd sell it for glue. NICE!
@kenfo0 Unlike horses (who with serious wiping could jump too high and hurt its self) mules and donkeys are "stuborn" because they asses the danger of situations. Horses do what insinct tells them, they react.
A wip hits them they will leave the area, even if it means jumping and getting hurt. However a donkey or mule you could hit all you want but they would say no the fence is to high, I will get injured, I am better of her getting wipped.
Mules are just amazing!! I grew up riding quarter horses I took QH's where most people wouldnt go, but they dont have anything over a mule. Mules are just so smart anyone that knows animals can see that a mule is much smarter than a horse or a donkey. They are just calm where a horse is always easily excitable. A spooked horse will kill you. A mule will never harm himself so therefore you are safer on a mule. Mules are more powerful they dont get sick like a horse. and they dont need shoes
I just bought me a Mammoth Jack and Im going to raise me some nice big mules. I dont really care about the mule jumpin competetion, but I will probably start coon huntin again. I need mules to do it now because I will have to go to some big country just to get away from the idiots. Plus im getting older and fatter and these ozark hills seem alot bigger than they used to. Plus having some good mules will open up some deer and turkey huntin opertunities also.
There used to be alot of coon hunters in Pea Ridge They used to have their own Coon hunting club as did alot of towns around. There are very few still coon huntin. It got to the point where People were shooting at us. Callin the cops on us all the time. City Slickers move in and dont know whats going on they would freak when they seen people with flashlights in the woods at night. And when yolu are huntin with dogs they are very unpredictable about where they will wind up.
Im live in Pea Ridge and I grew up coon hunting, but I didnt use mules. I went with some of the guys when I was kid coon huntin on mules. A guy broke his leg that night. Wich is really rare for someone to get injured. Thats the only injury I ever heard of. I knew all the old timers that started the mule jump in Pea Ridge. I was still in High school at the time. They used the have the mule jumps where the old high school used to be
TBsPlease. They have VERY different muscle structures that allow them to have more power in their haunches and neck and chest. Its actually pretty cool. They get it from the donkey, much stronger then horses, and they get the elegance from the horse. There are some awesome publications about it. Check out Meredith Hodges at Lucky Three Ranch has some awesome publications to educate you on the mule. (also there's a cool book called "Natural Superiority of the Mule" thats pretty amazing)
my gosh..u dont have to be so know it all about it... and from horse prospective ts not nice to make a "horse" jump from a stand still...k sry i did not know..happy?
If the mule didn't want to jump, it wouldn't have. Let me tell you, it's very hard to get an equine to jump or do something that it doesn't want to do. It certainly could have refused.
Don't feel sorry the mule. Mule's have an amazing ability to jump...from a stand still. A guy I knew raised Walking Mules, and I've seen plenty of them just pop over the gate just to see what was on the other side. The gate was 4.5 feet tall. As for showjumping...check regs...not all shows allow mules to compete...just because of their ability.
So cool, amazing!
Jag visste inte att det fanns så många mulåsnor,
eller att de kunde hoppa så högt!

MiniMe0120 3 years ago
Unlike horses, mules are well known for their ability to jump from a standstill, like deer.
ThirdCultureKidTCK 3 years ago 37
*Sigh* It's called coon jumping. Mules/donkeys jump extremely well from a stand still. Research before you say something is "sooo mean".
