@blackrosewriter I dont think so.I can do it and it hasn't affected my voice at all, no pain and no change in my normal speaking.There are plenty of people on Youtube that can do it, and they all sound normal too.I think it's just that the Tuvans who can do it are mostly old and a bit gruff anyway.It is possible if they did it to excess throughout their lives it affected them, or maybe they deliberately damaged their vocal cords to get better sounds for throat singing.But in moderation it's fine

The high, clear part is a flute or whatever in the song. But if you listen carefully you'll hear that his overtones follow along the flute or whatever.

It's not humming, ikmijelf. It's controlled harmonics by shaping of the mouth and tongue. I thought the high notes were alright, by the way.
